caramelcutiepie
Teams don't come to Memphis to play and go home winners. boys or girls. Try the other way and everyone comes back home winners. Strong in the east. Some are but not many. Know what you are talking about, not what you think is true. Girl's hoops is good all over Tennessee. It is not a geographic thing. It is specific to individual schools. Some are great, most of the rest are pretty darn good. YOOOOHOOOO!! TrojanBob, you hit the nail on the head!! You said what I have been thinking or wanting to say but with more truth, reason and provoked thought! (haha) Good for you... Email me when you get a chance...I have something to tell you... caramelcutiepie@yahoo.com

gthgirl
Trojanbob You seem to be pretty high on Memphis basketball !!!! When was the last time that a girls AAA team won the state championship? I'll save you the trouble of having to think back that far. It was Memphis Melrose 19 years ago in 1985. caramelcutiepie
Trojanbob You seem to be pretty high on Memphis basketball !!!! When was the last time that a girls AAA team won the state championship? I'll save you the trouble of having to think back that far. It was Memphis Melrose 19 years ago in 1985. That's all I hear...that's your only claim to fame!!! I mean, you and your cronies are always saying that same old tired line and its getting a bit redundant, isn't it?? There's a first time for everything, change is essential, and records are made to be broken (not trying to be too cliche-ish). We get blasted because a lot of you feel our teams out West don't compete well...I think that the trend has been better in the last few years. Only one team can win it and there are 7 losers in the process...Memphis East beat an awesome Oak Ridge team who they weren't supposed to even be on the floor with in 2002, according to you experts. Haven't gotten one in a while, So What!? Are you going to change your opinion if there is a champ from Memphis this year or next?? HECK NO! You're still going to have that biased stereotype engraved into your little pea head. But, it doesn't matter... Girls basketball in Tennessee has been around for a few decades and out of all that we know there are more teams that haven't won the whole thing than there are who have (Shelbyville has 9 or so, so they have gotten a lot that other people should have...they should share some...just kidding). You can't assign that entire State Title won by Melrose to West Tennessee or even to the City of Memphis...I believe that Melrose won and earned that title, and even if that is the only one they've won, and even if it was a long time ago, its ONE more State Title than some schools have won. And you guys keep saying its "weak" over here...how do you know, how do you explain why we send so many girls to D-1 programs every year and how do you explain our success in AAU? Those girls have to be playing against someone and most of them play AAA ball. Answer...they are playing against each other, knocking each other out. I can't remember who said it, but whoever said that Memphis has some great individual talent, but lack coaching was correct and I am pretty honest and reasonable, so I can agree to that...but people like yourself have no clue what you're talking about and it really doesn't matter, so I shouldn't even respond...Where's Showtime when you need him?? Anyone?? Sometimes the best teams don't make it to State (like you have seen on your side this year)...it happens. Just shut up, sit back, watch, and let the girls play ball...then have your say...I'm not judging any team until I see them play tomorrow night (except Shelbyville who I know will be great and who I have a lot of respect for because I have seen them every year and they take care of business at the end of the season). Good luck to all the teams and I hope that every team arrives safely and that there are no injuries during the tournament. Go Chiefs!! ZakATTAK07
trojanbob your about crazy if you think the Memphis teams are as good as the East TN teams. NO WAY. Greeneville, Powell, Heritage, Oak Ridge, and Sevier Co. all could beat every team in Memphis without a doubt. It seems to me that Memphis girls hoops isnt so good if the last time somebody from Memphis won the title was in 1985 lol. East TN has girls hoops sorry Memphis doesn't. trojanbob
Individual programs not as a whole. go to school. get an education. shirleymurphy
i agree that memphis sends great players to division one schools, guys and girls. but just about every memphis school dooesnt play as a team and play organized, its like the and 1 mixed tape tour. and thats why yall get beat when yall play teams that actually play the game of basketball, this holds true in guys and girls basketball
caramelcutiepie
i agree that memphis sends great players to division one schools, guys and girls. but just about every memphis school dooesnt play as a team and play organized, its like the and 1 mixed tape tour. and thats why yall get beat when yall play teams that actually play the game of basketball, this holds true in guys and girls basketball Now you've just shown how crazy you really are...You're crazy...how does it hold true in the guys and girls when the boys from, you guessed it, this side of the state have won several of the last state titles (including 2 back to back for White Station) in both AAA and AA. I hate when people use words that insinuate "all" and "every" to get their points across, then I doubly hate it when they are stereotypical and wrong and try to turn their point from an opinion to a FACT. This shows a complete lack of knowledge and rationality...but why am I surprised. Whoever said that ignorance was bliss never came to this message board and dealt with some of the clueless ones I've encountered. Have you seen "every" Memphis team ever play, boys or girls? Even if you had seen them, and one team played fundamentally enough to your liking (ooooh!) your theory would still be disproved and you would be wrong about "every" team playing like And 1 (which I have yet to see this year or in years past) and not playing team ball. There are several teams that play pretty fundamentally sound although it is drastically different at times from what you may see across the state. I would be wrong to say that all teams from East Tennessee slow the game down, aren't athletic, and play a boring style of basketball. Whether that's my opinion or not (and that's NOT my opinion) wouldn't matter because I would have shown how dumb I was to say "all" or "every" when referring to those teams. fish5
Caramelcutiepie, I know it's tough on coacht to defend west TN girls basketball with a majority of posters from other parts of the state on here; but I think you made some pretty good points. It's probably a moot point this year because of Shelbyville, but next year could be west TN's year. I think west TN girls basketball deserves a bit more respect than it gets on these posts. shirleymurphy
yeah i said 'just about every school' which doesnt mean every school. and White Station is the reason why i didnt say every school plays like that. im not stupid. and yeah ive seen most memphis schools play and they do play street ball.
