tackle
I knew Bary Gaither. I worked with Bary Gaither. Bary Gaither was a friend of mine. Gopher15, you are no Bary Gaither. He has forgotten more about kickball than you will ever know.

pantherfanatic
All I know is if there was a traveling junior league in team in football, i would take my team to Canton in a heart beat and show gopher how to play football. We are good because I have LOTS of assistants that I let coach. See gopher, give your assistants some ownership and they will be loyal to you. That is something you will never understand. Do you wear wing tiips on Saturday morning also?
gopher15
p-fan - You bring your kickball rejects to me anytime. I'll show you that all the assistant coaches in the world won't make a difference against our team!! You can't stop the jettjuice when it's rolling!!! beethoven
This might be the most disgusting thread on all of the coachT boards. I'm ashamed that I posted on it. The JR PRO TEAM with the fastest kid is the one that will win. Don't let any of that coaching stuff get in your way when you're involved in JR Pro. I want to vomit
paper
The team with the fastest kid is the one that will win. THANK YOU beethoven for helping I and gopher prove our point. You get a good head coach with a fast kid then assistants are not really needed (except on equipment day and picture day, that is when they shine, they assist)

I want to vomit Look buddy- you don't need to put others down to make yourself feel better. Jr Pro coaches work really hard. I personally put in a lot of hours everyday studying film of our opponents and putting in new plays. Now my wife and my kids don't get to see me much and I don't go into the office much during football season, but those are the kind of sacrifices that have to be made during football season! It's people like us that make the stars of the future!!

A good head coach makes sure all of his most inept assistants have something which is "supposedly" real important. Like everybody knows that the guy who is "in charge" of equipment just can't be trusted with something more important. And the guy who is supposed to bring the head phones to the away games just needs a title. And the defensive coordinator is usually nothing more than the meanest coach who the head coach(usually the offensive coodinator) wants to stay as far away from as possible. Yes, a good assistant is one who takes orders and follows them obediently and doesn't question the man in charge!
beethoven
I'm praying to the football gods that you make to the high school level so I can coach against you, in any capacity.
ELA
Gopher... the "better football programs" have assistant coaches who have been HEAD COACHES! You can't begin to compare even the best youth or middle school program to the best HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS in the state. We are talking the difference between "NIGHT and DAY!" A QUALITY VARSITY PROGRAM will have 5-8 or more assistant coaches and at least two of them will be former head coaches who have 15-30 years of football experience EACH! If you look at programs like Hillsboro, or Maryville... they each have at least two or three assistants who will all be future head football coaches among their assistants. Riverdale has produced many head football coaches through the years! A quality football program will produce more head football and assistant football coaches through the years than they will DI players. Give me a break!
