I can tell you some and if I leave off somebody will post it. WB will have Andrew Clabough soph. Brian Crosby sr. trey Burstrom sr. Cory Churchill sr. Daniel Holden sr. Mark Mcgill so. Jake snyder sr. Coy Best jr. all quality players. Maryville will have Cade Thompson sr Shawn Blair sr. Andrew Clement sr. Tyler King jr. Chad Berrong jr. Aaron Gaylor jr. Heritage has a lot of people comming back that played a lot of varisty this year. Same for Alcoa. I would look for Maryville, WB and Heritage playing for the 3 seed behind Farragut and South Doyle. Everybody has a opinion and they are free, that's why we play the games!!!!!

I think I said this before, but.. There are some pretty good baseball players in Blount County who do not play for their HS teams, due to the current try-out systems and other factors. Maybe if more of these over looked players were on the teams, the county to include MHS could get by the Knoxville teams during the post season someday.

There are a few players mentioned who may go on and do well at the next level but not many. Mainly in my view because the schools in the county have no real commitment to baseball, in my view.

I think that you should look a little closer at the record. MHS made it to sub-state last year. They didn't get to that level with players that should not have been there. William Blount and Heritage also have fine baseball programs and have good players that will do well. Alcoa is playing in the championship game in there district tonight and might just win it. They also have some good players. It souunds like that you have a problem with one of more coaches that failed to see the same thing that you saw.

Three former players off the top of my head are Brad Hitch, WB at Milligan Batted .213 last year, Barry Cunningham. MHS, still a Fr Year haven’t heard how he is developing, and Josh Sing from WB at Hiawassee has been doing some good pitching early. Jason Phillips was at CN but did not do too well but in his defense I think he was injured while there or maybe into his second year. I think there was a kid from Maryville who made it to the minors who played for Coach Hawkins in the early 90’s from MHS.

Blount County has not produced many top notch Baseball players. Being a fan and former top prep player in my day, I wish the community had a real commitment to baseball because there are athletes here who could develop given more opportunity to do so. Most cannot afford these so called “Travel Teams” who really mainly made up of parents who have the cash and time for that kind of life. I am glad Maryville College has a camp; it will help the local players.

    • I have no issues with the Karns Middle School program.   Good coaches and he's with the kids he goes to school with.  He's a rising 6th grader who had to play with 6th grade kids last year because Karns didn't have enough kids for a 5th grade age team.  He's in a good place at this point.   My daughter is a single mom with 4 kids under 11 years old.  We help her out with logistics, so staying in our own area right now is important.  Once he gets to high school age, who knows what happens?  That bridge will be crossed when we get there.
    • I know he was a backup but I thought he filled in well when the starter went down. Never a bad thing to have a change of pace back
    • That would be a good get for them. Lowe always finds a way. Pretty sure they have their Rb from last year returning but not that line of beef
    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
