Laugh if you want -- but Lake County will make noise in the playoffs this year.  They might not make it past the third round, but they will make a serious run at Murfreesboro next year -- especially with most of the privates gone. They only lose 2 starters from a team that should finish no worse than 7-3 this season.

I believe you have to say Boyd is the big favorite until something happens to prove different. They have virtually the same team as last year (all a year older and more experienced), and they steamrolled through the playoffs in 2003. In terms of teams not mentioned a lot, having seen Friendship Christian, I'd like to say they could advance well into the playoffs. They have an awesome passing attack when it's clicking. They have a problem, though. They will have to play Boyd, probably in the third round, and I don't see the Commanders beating BB. I'm not saying it'll be a cakewalk for BB, but I think they'll take it all.

Boyd Buc from the east with several teams with a chance in the west. DCA, CPA, USJ, Mt. Pleasant and Wayne County all with a chance from the west. Boyd Buc the beast of the east will be hard for anyone in 1A to beat this year.

Unaka?? Monterey?? Not to take anything away from their 5-0 starts, but they have not played anybody?? Kings Academy? Sunbright?? Come On!!! Mt. Pleasnt has the best chance for a public school, but once again, Boyd will win.

Of course being a BBS fan I am partial to Boyd being the best 1A team in the state. I did see DCA play JCS earlier this year, and to be honest Boyd would have put a stomp on either team. I know that Boyd took it to DCA last year and DCA looked down to me, while Boyd looks equal or better. BBS is a small team but JCS was smaller and the speed on Boyd's defensive side of the ball would cause trouble for DCA. I havent seen CPA play but with their schedule and their ability to score like they did on Riverdale I think it will be a rematch of the 2002 state championship BBS vs. CPA. Good luck to the Bucs!

It looks like Boyd B is the favorite in the East but the the West is up for grabs. Whoever is the healthiest and clicking in the playoffs. Could be CPA, DCA, MP, USJ. Would prefer a CPA/Boyd 3rd game.

Friendship doesn't have a chance either. They won't go very far.
