basketballisbest
1. Riverdale (6-0) -- The state's best team 2. Dobyns Bennett (6-0) -- Looking real strong, and maybe the only real threat to Riverdale 3. Ooltewah (6-0) -- Many believe they are overrated, but they just might be the real thing 4. Franklin (6-0) -- Also, many have felt they don't belong here, but they keep on winning 5. Oak Ridge (5-1) -- Best one-loss team in state and may be better than all the other undefeated teams, except Riverdale and Dobyns Bennett 6. Smyrna (5-1) -- Very strong team, who lost to Riverdale bad, but have looked very good ever since 7. Soddy Daisy (6-0) -- Weak wins against Hixson and Heritage makes them drop a few notches 8. Bolton (5-1) -- Looks like they might be the best team in the west 9. White Station (5-1) -- they look stronger every week 10. Farragut (6-0) -- Many questions but they keep winning; the next few weeks will tell Honorable Mention: Gallatin (5-1); Antioch (5-1); Houston (5-1); Cookeville (5-1); Hunters Lane (5-1); Lebanon (4-2); Ravenwood (4-2); Science Hill (4-2); Whitehaven (5-2)
basketballisbest
A little more analysis... Riverdale was just their usual selves, blowing out Siegel. Explosive and dominating is all you can say. Dobyns Bennett proved themselves against Oak Ridge; they will likely run the table until the playoffs Ooltewah used their starter for about 14-15 minutes and then played everyone. Didn't even try to score after that. Most don't give this well-rounded team the credit they are due. For those of you who question the Franklin ranking; how can you deny them when they keep on winning every week. Games against Ravenwood and Brentwood will tell us all alot. Oak Ridge is simply tough. Their only loss keeps them from being ranked higher. I like Smyrna. I know they got blown out against Riverdale, but after that they simply have looked great. Sorry Soddy. You guys have not looked as strong the last few weeks. Still up there because you keep winning. The last three weeks are going to be wild for the leaders in 2-5A. There's your chance to prove the naysayers, you really have something.
basketballisbest
Either no on really cares; no one has an argument with this suggested poll; or I'm talking to myself. Maybe all three.
GradfromtheNest
I'll comment on your poll! I think it's pretty good. I agree with you that Oak Ridge is probably up there above Ooltewah right now...but that loss hurts them. Of course it was to #2 DB. Like you said, time will only tell...in a few weeks, Soddy, Ooltewah, or Oak Ridge could be at #2 or 3.....can't wait!
GWAVE1
The last 3 in your poll and the first 3 on your honerable mention list should probably flip/flop. But overall, very well thought out.
cav43
seems pretty acurate as of right now. will be interesting to see how much it changes come week 9 and 10.
matt912
I would agree with GWave. The Houston Mustangs should be at least 10th, they did beat Bolton, and they lost to white station by 7, although there were a few questionable calls, and the Mustangs spotted the Spartans 21 points in the first half. No one gives West Tennessee Teams any credit. I think also at this time last year, Germantown wasnt all hyped up, and they won it all. It should be an interesting next couple of weeks. dback33
I know i sound stupid by asking this..but how exactly do you pronounce...Ooltewah...?? anyone??
GradfromtheNest
Ok, if you're from Ooltewah, then you say "ooooh - te - wah" If you're not from Ooltewah and you say it like it's spelled, then "oooo - L - te - wah" Does that makes sense? bounder
years ago I dated a girl from Ooltewah and she said you couldn't say Ooltewah without puckering up your lips to kiss. Boy, was she right. I know nobody wanted to know that but it was still true.
