This is... I can't believe this happened tonight. What are all of your reactions to this? STUPID PLAYERS. STUPID FANS. Period.

Personally, I have thought the NBA game has deteriorated to oblivion and this just proves my suspicions. Take the Shaq and Kobe story, Kobe's indescressions, Alan Iverson and the rest of the shameless acts going on in a sport that's supposed to be about team and you have what the NBA deserves. A bunch of spoiled rich thugs. In this case, the fans are ultimately to blame. When the players tried to chill, the fans set it ablaze by throwing things at the players. Ugly, ugly, ugly. The fans will get the blame but I think the GAME has deteriorated so bad and with so many thugs that the attitude has spilled over into the fans. That's not an excuse but what do they expect. It looked just like a WWF night on TV.

I hope the game dies and goes away, far, far away from the US. When the Olympic team went overseas and got their tails handed to them by a bunch of wannabe's with less than half of the US talent. Their teamwork and dedication, sharing the ball and passing for the open shot showed just how bad things are in this sport. I hope the NBA is sued and it winds up in courts for years until their busted. Long live college basketball where team and hard work still holds on. ;)

Players being spoiled punks happens from high school all the way up to the pros, in all sports. And there's thugs throughout too. For every Ron Artest or Kobe Bryant, there's a Shane Battier, Adonal Foyle, or Brian Cardinal. And everybody gets hung up on the bad examples, ignoring the good ones.

Yeah, because there's *NEVER* been any punks in college basketball. And, um, there's a lot of hard work in the NBA. Those guys work and play a lot harder than you give them credit for.

Ron Artest is a trouble maker...you're talking about someone who wanted to sit out a portion of the season to rest cus he's tired from the publicity from his rap album. It's a shameful act and I feel sorry for the kids that were left crying after witnessesing grown men fight...did anyone see derrick tinsley come out of the tunnel with one of those metal brooms?

Well I disagree with ya opperman. Of all the professional sports, the NBA is the worst when it comes to the amount of "thugs." There may be some in all the others but they're definitely not as bad. Just watch the post-game celebration from a championship-winning game in all the sports. I can't stand the NBA because of this... and I think this had a lot to do with last night's events.

I was disgusted but not surprised by the incident.

First of all, don't blame the players that this incident escalated. If it was not for the fans, the incident would have been over quickly.

The reason I say I was not surprised was that some fans don't go to games any more to just to watch the game. Some fans - a small minority - just look to get drunk, heckle the players, and maybe if they get lucky, throw something on the field/court and get in a fight.

Remember the September incident in Oakland. The fan involved admitted that he liked to sit close to the bullpen so that he could heckle the opposing players while getting drunk I am sure.

At Detroit guy who threw a cup of beer on Artest while Artest was lying on the scorer's table, had no reason to do so. Then when Artest went in the stands, fans threw more beer on Artest and Stephen Jackson while they ran like scared girls. Then there was the fat guy who came in from the left and cheap shots either Artest or Jackson from behind. After Artest got out of the stands, some guy rushes him on the court and Artest punches him - I hope he broke the guy's jaw. Then, you have the punks who poured beer and liquid on Artest and the people escorting him between the stands. Not to mention the guy who threw the chair at Jermaine O'Neil.

My point is that when you buy a ticket it does not give you the right to throw beer on the players, run on the court, attack the players, etc. At almost every professional (Titans, Grizzlies, Braves, etc.) event I have attended lately, I have seen behavior that had the potential of becoming violent.

OPPY,

The pro season is TOO long. Anyone with eyes sees the lack of hustle in this game. Wide open shots after shots after shots. Lanes wide open for the players to run to the basket only to be slammed on the layup. They lurk and lay traps so they have opportunities to play like the punks they are to hurt and show up the opposing player. You must be watching something different than I watch because this game has deteriorated to being nothing but highlight exposure shots for ESPN and that is not TEAM where I come from. No doubt, there are good players but they better get a clue and take the game back from the punks that are running it. Maybe instead of having a championship in the states, let them play teams from the other side of the world. At least they will have to play as a team to win or tuck their egotistical tails between their legs and go back whence they came :D

The NFL is right there with them. Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Leonard Little, there's a *LOT* of them. But because the NFL is holy in the eyes of the media, people don't dwell on the punks in the NFL like they do over them in basketball and baseball.

Sounds like you just watch the ESPN highlights and you don't actually watch games.

I'll tell you what. Come to Memphis sometime for a Grizzlies game, I'll buy you a ticket (probably the $5 variety, maybe the $12, I'm cheap like that) and we'll watch in person...see if you still think there's no hustle and no team play. Shot selection isn't always good, part of that due to the shot clock. But the NBA game is a lot more entertaining, and a lot better, than you give them credit for.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
    • hey goat! how’s monterey looking this year?!
    • several people actually. they said “snoball, do you know who railbird81 is on coacht?” I said, “never heard of her.” they said, “you ought to check it out they’re getting fired up on there like the old days.” well, you can imagine my disappointment when I came here expecting sharp, witty banter and all i found was more akin to toddlers slap fighting. and what looks like 1 guy/gal talking to themselves with multiple accounts.
