Unaka vs Pickett County

Unaka didn't come back as much as Pickett blew it with turnovers and missed layups. Pickett had a 29-15 lead late in the 3rd and began playing very poorly. Unaka had a three pointer in the stretch, but it was Pickett walks, bad passes, and other turnovers which helped Unaka come back. As poorly as Pickett played, Unaka was even worse. Their center had to have missed a half dozen tip ins or layups. How did they ever win the state last year? This should have been another Pickett blow out like last year, but 13 turnovers and about 7 missed layups cost the Bobcats. Unaka's only leads were at 1-0 and 5-4, and most of the game they were down by 10-14 points. This was Pickett's 2nd poor game in a row.

Not that it matters but there were some graduations from Unaka last season; three starters are gone. But, if I have this right; the only way Pickett County loses is if Pickett County plays poorly. Unaka's defense and perseverance had nothing to do with the bad passes and walks? Were all of Unaka's bad passes and traveling turnovers due to Unaka just "playing poorly".... or more logically, because Pickett County was playing very good defense? Is it possible that a player might just throw a bad pass or walk due to defensive pressure from the OTHER team?

The Rangers actually trailed Cosby by 14 in the second half of their sub-state game.... on their way to the Title. However Cosby just started playing POORLY; then suddenly the Rangers were declared State Champs. So that's how it's done?

Probably a combination of both, but lets not take anything away from these kids that are playing the game, they are all trying there very best. Unaka is the defending state champions, the rest of us are just trying to get there! thumb

ranger you better watch your mouth about who "$ucks". Oneida is a much improved team this year. We were scared last year when we played Cosby and they killed us. Oneida could beat some teams this year. You all did a lot of talking in football and look where it got you, but you are a much better basketball team than football team. Unaka is good as is Pickett and Cosby, and Oneida might be able to get into that level this year.

    • Perhaps it is within the realm of possibility that the comprehension of my discourse, both by yourself and others, may be circumscribed by the boundaries of intellectual acumen. Might one contemplate this notion from such a perspective? Allow me to clarify that my intent does not lean towards disparagement, save for instances where provocation is directed towards myself or the esteemed troupe of the Trousdale County Yellow Jackets who proudly find domicile upon the hallowed grounds of CREEKBANK. In contemplation of the candidates under discussion, it is conjectured that individuals such as Gregory, Woodmore, Vetetoe, Eden, Hackett, and Cothron may emerge as contenders. Regrettably, it is deemed improbable that Shoulders shall express interest in this pursuit. Speculation arises regarding the potential candidacy of BJ West, albeit the implications of familial ties with Lafayette introduce complexities to such a scenario. The enigma of Dr. Clint's deliberations looms large, fraught with the weight of a formidable decision yet to be made.
    • My kind sir, you seem to be lost within the time space continuum having traveled from the 16th Century or you aspire to hide your true intelligence by masking your language with that of the great playwright. You know good and well, your commentary takes your fellow comrades hours to decipher what you are really saying and most of them are likely left questioning whether you have insulted them or find them to be in your favor. I offer you some advice. In my travels through this area of the country, it is best to speak slow and with a twang and you don't annunciate  words to their fullest. Your points will be clear then!  Any names been mentioned around town as Actual Applicants to this job? Seen several post mentioning individuals, but I haven't heard of any of them except for Shoulders. Does he have ties to TC?  Have amy of the other names mentioned ever been in the HC position before?
    • They’re building something special there. They have 4 Varsity games scheduled & 5 JV. They are trying for a 5th Varsity game. Beat them now because they will be good in the future. They are building a football field there I think but the rich pricks of Farragut won’t let them get lights so they are possibly looking at property to build a stadium & field with lights
