Salty, 1973 small division Jackson Co. with Coach Halfacre defeats Woodbury43-30 with I believe Coach Harris at the helm. In the large division, Bradley Co. with Coach Smiddy defeats Warren Co. 45-43 with I have no idea coaching. Tell me that is the closest so far. It means the world to me to have YOUR blessing Salty. At least I think so.

 

In 1973, there were large (L) and small (S) classifications instead of A, AA, and AAA. I assume the (S) game was played first. If true, Gainesboro (Jackson County now) beat Woodbury (Cannon County now) 43-30 to complete a 36-0 season. For several years the tournament had been held in Jackson.

 

Joe Halfacre was the winning coach and Robert A. Harris coached Woodbury. Two legends.
