TATTOS

What is the ruling on tattoos? I have seen several wrestlers

with them this year. I thought they must be covered during

a match. If they must be covered, how do you cover the

tattoos that go across the shoulders? Several times I have

witnessed the offical having the wrestlers remove the "Under Armor"

shirts, so I know that that is not an option. And what happens if

the wrestler cannot cover the tattoo?

thanks

Do you mean tattoos? If so, there is nothing in the NFHS regarding them. TSSAA also has no rule against them. It is possible that a school system could set rules against them. As far as the undershirt is concerned, there has to be a legitimate, medical reason to wear one. It is a rule that has been overly abused for guys that have unflattering chest flab, man boobs, or are simply dissatisfied about their appearance in a singlet.

What ever happened to that eager female wrestler over there (McMinn Central?)? We had one too who moved here from California, but Highscool boys just got too tough for her. She was quite skilled and talented, but injured while being overpowered by 16-18 year old boys.

Hope Procter seems to be amazing as a frosh, but experiencing similar frustrations.

You are probably going to see more private school schools kids having there tatoos covered then public. It is the schools choice on what needs to be covered and most private schools are a little more strict about tattoos.

I remember seeing many tattoos covered in matches between private schools in Ohio and Pennsylvania. It is the schools choice.

Soms,, the female wrestler is my daughter, she has had

medical issues that has hampered her this year. ( not

injuries) She did do three pickup matches at the Lookout

Mountain tourny and won all three in a total time of less

than two minutes. She is deciding if she can do the womans

tourny in Kentucky, But I am not sure if she will make that one.

Hopefully she will be back up to a wrestling mindset her

senior year.

The totoos shouldn't be that big of a problem. A lot of guys have them now days. But onto the topic of the underarmor. I think the shirts are great but not under a singlet. I think the shirts are sometimes hard to grab onto. Certain moves require you to grab a guy around the shoulder (i.e. claw) and sometimes the shirts are very slick. I don't know? Just a thought. The undershirt seems like it would just get in the way and cause problems. To the wearer, I would have to say why wear it (other than a medical reason)?
