While Hume Fogg does have some very good players they lack depth.Their starting point guard tore her ACL a couple months ago and one of their starters from last year decided not to play this year. They basically are down to four or five quality players which in their district probably won't be enough.Ryann King is handling the ball most of the time and has to score from that position which she is good at but is more comfortable being the shooting guard.

I earlier predicted they would be region champs, but after taking a 30 point thumping from Lipscomb and losing Montmarquet I have changed my mind. There is no way this team makes it out of the region, much less to state. This is without question the best senior class they have had in years and wil have for years unless some of their younger players improve a whole lot. In my eyes, even with the injury to a quality player, this team has underachieved on the season.

No team out of 8AA ever makes it out of the region, they rarely make it out of the first round of the region.

I totally agree bob77. 8AA best chance for any kind of a win will be the first game with their #1 see against our #4 seed. After that they don't win another game it will be an all 7AA region final just like it has been every year in this millenium and it will continue to be that way until the powers that be put 8AA in a different region! thumb

it is a shame that so many of these girls have been hurt over their high school careers. most of them played middle school ball together and at that age, were absolutely awesome. when this group was in eighth grade, they played jessica mooney's team for the nashville middle school championship (jessica was in 7th grade at the time). that was one of the best games i have ever watched on the local level. i agree that 7-aa is a better basketball district, unfortunately for hume-fogg.

this will all be different after this year, since hume-fogg will play in district 9, region 5. district 8-aa will be dca, goodpasture, greenbrier, portland, station camp and white house. this is for basketball and softball.

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
