Maybe what I'm trying to say is this... coaching a powerhouse high school football team is time consuming. The time put into it is crazy. Should these guys also be expected to give it their all in the classes? Something is going to suffer...

A lighter load would make it easier for a coach to a great teacher and vice versa.

The Tommy that Bounder is talking about is..Tommy Laurendine,the Offensive Coordinator at Southern Arkansas University. Played quarterback at Oak Ridge and in college. He would be an excellent choice.

Am I the only one that thinks that a new HC gets named pretty quickly?

 

My guess is that this was known by the administration for a while and the candidate pool has been refined. I doubt that this was a surprise.

 

This seems to have been a pretty busy off-season for coaches so far.

Yes, I do. I think he had some mild interest the last time. Oak Ridge is not a school system that goes and asks people if they want the job. They will have to contact them if they have interest. This might keep Jimmy from looking into it.

Well I hope the best for Oak Ridge. I am sure that an excellent coach will be found and the DB vs Oak Ridge rivalry will continue as always. I guess now I have a reason to go watch Father Ryan every so often since they are in my neck of the woods. I am sure Father Ryan will return to their winning ways in football once Lussier gets the program rollin.

I'm 99% certain this came as a surprise to everyone , probably even Bruce Lussier.

And Bud, I will see you at Father Ryan as my wife says she wants to see them play some this year. Doesn't hurt that the coach's wife is my wife's best friend. But I will still be at the Cats games.

I agree. I would really be surprised if Coach Q would leave Maryville though. He has said many times in the past he feels he has the best head coaching job in the State and he and his family are pretty settled and happy here I think. His name is bound to come up, and they may even contact him, I think he is very happy where he is though.

I wouldn't worry too much about Coach Quarles leaving Maryville. However, it will be mighty interesting to see who the Wildcats go after.
