Great, crazy game. I really wish Unicoi would sit on there own side so maybe all of these brawls would quit happening. The constables only took out one Unicoi fan. Back to the game, Central really came through when they needed to. J Train hit probably the biggest shot of the night. My hats off to those Unicoi boys though. Great game.

I'll agree to that. It was one of the wildest games I have ever seen. I have been to numerous high school basketball games before but I have never seen the referees stop the game and take what was at least a 10-minute break for crowd control. As far as people being taken off the court, I didn't personally see any handcuffs, but I have also never seen such a brawl in the middle of the game with any fan having to be physically dragged by two cops out of the gym.

It wasn't just a fight though. There was some rough basketball played by both teams. I only wish Blue Devils would have come out number one. They played their hearts out and never gave up for one second. Don't worry though....we're going all the way to state! GO BLUE!

Great game...Central done what they had to do. That was one of the best team efforts from them all year. They played unselfish and it showed. Sanchez, Leonard and Beverly all 3 stepped up and done what the seniors are supposed to do. Plus Gabe, Phil , Hess and Lane all made big plays to help with the win. It has been a long time in the making but Central finally gets a home sub-state berth. Hope to see a packed house Monday night.

As for Unicoi...I'll start with the fans...classless. Did I not say in an earlier post that fans should sit on the side they are supposed to? There was plenty of seats behind the goal the Unicoi fans could sit at but no, they had to sit on the Central side. Well Unicoi fans didn't and you see what happens, 2 guys from Unicoi get a Central student in a headlock and somehow the Central student is the only one escorted out. But if anyone watched the constables from Unicoi this week you would know that they don't have a clue what is going on. Before they started the game the constables took away newspapers from the students...NEWSPAPERS for crying out loud! This is what the constables are worried about, that and making sure no one was using tobacco products. Don't worry about the meth labs 300 yards from the school, get that Red Man outta there. The regional and district tournaments there were flat out jokes. I am glad Central is 3A next year and we don't have to go over there in that mess anymore.

But once again, what a game for the Cougars. The only thing is why didn't we have 4 on the all tournament team? Didn't Elizabethon's girls have 4 when they won.

Actually as far the TSSAA rules are concerned, there are to be no newspapers or posters of any kind during the tournament. Also, painting of any kind cannot be done on school premises. Violation of such rules could constitute immediate forfiture of the violating team.

Whatever dude, you just made that up...Show me in the TSSAA handbook where it says that?!? I'll even help you out here is a link to the post-season guidelines http://www.tssaa.org/Handbook/sbasketball.pdf They are not going to make a team forfeit for what there fans do. Have you ever been to the state tournament? I bet there is like 300 posters in there at one time.

Well for starters, look above your heads....it says Blue Devil seating, visitors are at the end of the bleachers. You failed to mention one of our FEMALE fans getting punched in the face by a Central guy (actually come to think about it it was our coach's wife!). That's why we had to send the whole police squad down to seperate yall. Our students stood in OUR stands and stayed out of the fight yall started, which delayed the game ten minutes and hurt nobody but the teams on the court. It was a hard fought game to the end and Central antics aside was a good match for both. We're both headed to the sub-state so don't be surprised if we run into yall once again in Murfeesboro for round 5!

Oh by the way, thanks for keeping your shirts on this game, nothing kills the mood quite like seeing a bunch of fat guys shaking their cellulite around.

Edit: As to the things about posters and newspapers, we had an announcement by our AD- the tournament director for both District and Regional Championships, specifically directing no signs, no newspapers, no painting unless done off school premises, oh yeah and keep your shirt on. I know at the very least the shirt thing was given to you guys because our administration put a call in.

Dude how many times do we have to go over this. When you host the regional tourney your seating goes out the window...Central to the right and Unicoi to the left...they had signs outside...oh my bad you are from Erwin they maybe should have had guys with Central and Unicoi shirts on pointing out where you should go. You don't get to sit in your normal seating...get that through your elephant hanging heads.

Hate to hear that a woman got punched (I honestly don't believe it though). This all could have been avoided if Unicoi sits on the side they were assigned to..period. Plus the 2 guys from Unicoi where the ones you came into the Central section and started the fight.

If I just made that up, then why would did none of Unicoi County's people have posters or newspapers or anything like that? We've used them in the past, and believe me, we would have broken them out for the occasion.

P.S. The link you provided me with to access the handbook (which among my many faults I just don't happen to have memorized word for word, page for page) didn't pull up anything but a blank page.

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
