You guys have had a great season..Good Luck Wednesday...

A little history lesson about AE and teams from Obion County....

1985...Obion County beats AE for the boys state championship at Vanderbilt...

1997...Union City(from Obion County) beats AE in the state semi-finals at The'Boro(boys)

This year...Union City beats AE in a holiday tourney in Poplar Bluff,Missouri(boys)

I know it doesn't mean much because those are all boys games, but it's a little interesting...

And as another saying goes..Work hard..Play hard...Stay hard...

The state championship game will be played on the first day between AAA Walker Valley and Martin Westview.  The winner of this game will win the state championship.  My pick is AAA Walker Valley winning the AA state championship.  It doesn't hurt to have 1400+ students to choose from now does it!

How is AAA Walker Valley playing the AA state tournament? Just curious?

It's a fourth year school and they've added a few hundred every year. The last enrollment I saw was about 1200, not 1400 but still twice as large, or more, as some of their AA opponents this year. All I can guess is that they were barely under AAA when the enrollments were last counted for classification, instead of going what they would have, the TSSAA counted only what was the count at the time. They started out Class 3A in football, so they probably already had 700 or more to begin with, another class of students in their third year should have put them in AAA in basketball, softball and baseball. I don't think it's a coincidence, they won their 3A football region, won their basketball regions in both boys and girls, have the best AA baseball team in the area until proven otherwise, and has one of the top 2 AA softball teams in the area, maybe the best. It also helps when the quarterback and best boys basketball player switched schools before his senior year and went to WV but that has nothing to do with classification, just not much regard for his former classmates.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
