I'm working on drafting a letter to all the schools as we MUST become more organized if we want tournaments that mean something. Frankly the SAF format is disappointing in their "payout" to the kids in prizes. The fact that there were 70 boats in that tourney and only 3 boats got something...and they didn't do big fish is pure laziness by SAF/TBF. B.A.S.S. is coming to High School Fishing and maybe they will do better but we could always follow the lead of Alabama and form a group like theirs. They have an outstanding organization with lots of name sponsors and they had over 170 boats in their state championship this year compared to the SAF AL championship that only had around 25.

We must get moving folks to get TN High School Fishing where it needs to be!

David

I'll get it right next time. Sorry. Also of note. Sequatchie County doesn't have a team but they have a boat that fishes with Grundy. The same is about to happen with Franklin County since they can't get their administration to approve a team. Could be happening with Warren County too. This Grundy team could get so big we look like the Spanish Armada.

Amen, top 10 should receive recognition or top 10%. Should be run like any normal tourney with big fish. A top 10 should help get a scholarship. These young fishermen watch it on tv and it looks easy, its work and expensive a few years fishing these tourneys will be very good for these HS students.

    • Wanted to see if all of you would lift up Kyle James family in prayer. Kyle was one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of Soddy Daisy and as some of you know he lost his house a few weeks ago and now his family and friends mourns his passing. Not sure if any of you were around in early 2000’s when Kyle was wrestling at Soddy, but he was a 3 time state champ and a Fargo AA along with going to Colorado to train to make the Olympic team. That goal was never reached due to medical issues, but he was an amazing wrestler and his family is as good as gold. If you were around at that time and have any pictures of Kyle, please go onto Alexy Winesburgh FB page and post. Thanks, Doug Benton
    • My opinion the 8 teams will be-  Greenback, Wartburg, Gordonsville, Jo Byrns, Eagleville, Bruceton, Dresden, and South Fulton. Gordonsviile is probably the favorite but I wont say it will be an easy road. With the right draw any of the 8 could win it.
    • I understand Gibson Co. will be announced tomorrow with a familiar name. Not sure about So. Gibson.
    • A huge addition to the staff today! Former Hardin Valley legend and Richmond College running back Aaron Dykes was announced as the running backs coach. Rushed for over 3,000 yards at HVA, with 35 total touchdowns. I loved watching in Hardin Valley. I can’t believe he’s at Bearden now. I know he was trying to get a HVA job, I don’t know what happened there and how he ended up at Bearden, but I'm glad he’s here and believe he will be teaching art class as well! What a good get for the staff!!
    • Thoughts? Gordonsville won it last year with a sophomore pitcher and returned almost everybody. Can anyone beat them?
