I hope they have had a specialist come in and teach anger management to some of the players. Don't get me wrong I love the way he plays but he needs to learn when the whistle blows stop! I look for this to be another great season for the Cherokees but they have to play as a team and not buy into all the hype about how good they are. They have a lot of special players on this team and I just don't want to see it hurt this team like it has in the past.

I completely get what you are saying O&B but I will tell you this team is united. They have great chemistry and even though there is some hype and some have been participating in a lot of off season camps, combines, etc., at the core they are close and play team ball. I think the individual success of any player is respected by most the other team members. Outside sources, media, etc. would be the biggest wedge if the players don't handle that right, but within the core of the team their hearts are in the right place and they understand the importance of TEAM. We'll see how the leadership roles take effect this season. They have 9 Seniors that return and I expect to see strong leadership from that group. For the most part they are a methodical, disciplined group who return a ton of snaps and playing time. They have persevered through some difficult times and carried the torch well. They are well respected by the younger players and accept their worth to the team as well. Just now as I type this a former grad from the 2014 season, 2 Seniors, 1 Sophomore, and 1 Freshman are together playing a little football. Before anybody gets a wild hair and suspects any breaking of the rules due to the dead period, it's just a bunch of bored boys who on their own got together off school property to enjoy their summer which I'm sure will include eating, a little Xbox, etc. My point is Freshman to Senior it don't matter. They are a team that hangs together and respects each other and the memories they are making. As adults we including myself lose sight of that big picture sometimes and it is refreshing to see the players of all ages embrace not only the game itself but the friendships and fun times had off the field. I can not wait for this season to start but am afraid it will go by like a whirlwind and when it's Senior year that has a different feel to it.

This is why I love small town football!Even now after near 30 years when we all see each other its like it was just yesterday, underclassmen were treated just as the upperclassmen and a lot of good friendships were created.I can't wait to see this years team. Also you know I know what you are talking about having two sons playing at the same time,I had the privilege to have both start one on D and one on O couldn't get enough!Cherish it its gone way to fast.I think we may just surprise some folks this year(and that's saying alot after last season)if indeed we have that type of team chemistry, that's what we were missing last year.

The line of scrimmage will be the key O&B. Defensive line will be fine. O line is where we rebuild the most but from what I am hearing we should be fine there too. With no real look yet it's hard to tell. We shore up and compete there and the sky is the limit! All skill positions return and our Sophomores have a year under their belt and have matured mentally and physically. Not many Freshman but we will have a FB, WR, and 2 linemen out of that class that will be beasts after time. FB/LB you know(Little Bryant). He's gonna be tuff. Lineman from AL is BIG, other lineman pretty big too showing great strides early and these 2 could be used early if they develop quick. You know the WR too, lol! Little Willis just turned 14 and is 6'0 and about 165. He needs more weight/muscle development to get to the HS speed he needs to be. Wears a size 13 shoe so he's still a little awkward at times right now. Runs like a Clydesdale but will be really fast when he fully develops. His hands are like stickum though and he's very agile and athletic. Future looks very bright!

D-line will be nasty!

Gfd,I think the young man you refer to needing anger management would be a little over the top.I don't think enough HS players are playing angry enough.I think many players haven't even started when the whistle blows. This kid hasn't been All State 3 yrs. running because hes a poodle groomer,He's a beast.

and you can't tame wild animals.Let him go.He ate a lot of dirt getting GB to Cookville. And hopefully he will repeat.

BUT remember...He had to sit out the biggest game of the season for those reasons,if not for some stellar play from the rest of the team ( the semis) they don't make it to Cookeville! He does need to understand we need him on the field not in shorts.I do agree he is a beast but the stuff after the play is over needs to be reeled in just a little.I had a all State D tackle son play at GB graduated in 14 and GFD was also an all state player,so he and I both know what it takes to play at that level but we need to know he will be there every week.Your post is a good one but understand we aren't knocking his play WE OF ALL PEOPLE LOVE IT,its when the team has to pay for his actions that we don't care for. This will be an exciting season I do believe!Good to have another GB poster on here. I agree completely, but hopefully Ga.Tech and a host of others ringing him will cool him somewhat. He only got tossed once last season with no known lookers. Now,he knows big eyes are watching. If that doesn't twist his head around he will be peddling Big Macs. You are right on,he better fix his noggin. He needs to check out the travails of Albert Hainesworth.Good chat Pujo.Good to meet you.

Kid has a future if he can harness his aggression. Fine line between a hard nosed player and a thug. Hope he knows people will be watching him closely.  Good to have you on here Footballfanman. This is a great site and the more good posters, the better.Welcome to the boards.

I have never doubted his toughness. Always said he was a very good player but I also saw several times and I do mean several times that he should have been flagged. But the big thing is now they will be watching him like a hawk. Its better to knock their head off and when the whistle blows help tem up and tell them you'll be back again for more!!!!!!  Trust me this pisses them off more then them getting you threw out for late hits and stupid acts of selfishness, cause when you cause your team 15 yards or worse get kicked out of a game and the next game that's exactly what it is selfishness. You can ask anyone that knows me I love hard hitting. And I bragged on him and several others a lot last year. But they will also tell you that I called him getting kicked out to, in fact he should have been gone in several games, that's just my opinion.

Said by the former lineman!! You only like contact O&B. I tell you what those DBs get away with murder in those 7 on 7s! It can get a little rowdy with no refs and no flags. Some new receivers QB has to figure out timing on and who can do what. He and Jones got each other figured out long ago, lol! The one thing he's hoping to see is that these WRs adapt and learn to come back to the ball. Not everything is gonna go for 60 yards!

linebackers don't play honest either with 7 on the field. Should be allowed to hand the ball off to a tailback once in a while.
