formerblazer
In my area, there is a private school that while it is considered a TSSAA school, they classified themselves as a Prep School. I would not have thought anything of this, except the names that are popping up on their team look really familiar. So familiar because I am seeing people who are 19 and 20 years old on this team. I am looking for an explanation on why this is going on and why it is allowed. I would have thought posting a topic like this was just someone grasping at straws, but considering I know a kid is about to play for them this fall who just graduated from high school in the spring. Also, I have noticed there are other kids who also graduated last spring or the year before last and are still playing at this High School "Prep" school. Now luckily, the team I support will not be playing them in the fall. But for people who are on their schedule, is this something that has happened all over the place, is ok with the TSSAA, and I am just behind the times? If anyone has a rule explanation that would be great. TL;DR Can a student who just graduated from high school in the spring play at a TSSAA private/prep school the following year? Indian
You have four years of eligibility. 19 year old is the limit. What is the school?
bigchief
Cannot turn 19 before September 1st of senior year.

Trinity Academy in the Tri-Cities Four years of eligibility have definitely been met for the athlete I am thinking of. Age is under 19, but he graduated in May 2016 from another high school in the area.
formerblazer
Cannot turn 19 before September 1st of senior year. The age will not be the issue, just that he graduated from high school in the state of TN. So for example, I didn't play my freshmen year, then started the next four years. Graduated. Can I play one more Fall even if I am not a student.
RebelSoccer
I dont believe they are a member of TSSAA. They arent showing up on the directory anyways. and per the bylaws no graduate from a secondary school school may compete again in TSSAA sports. So while they have a football team, they will be competing against other schools in the state, what does that mean for the schools? Are they going to count those games? Obviously no state championship. http://www.trinityacademyknights.org/football.html There either has not been an update or I don't know what, but if they are not in the directory yet are claiming to be a TSSAA school, I'm wondering if people who play them even count their games. And 100% certain, the person in question is a graduate, but I was told that Prep Schools have different rules on who can or can't play. I guess as far as the TSSAA goes, it means nothing. Edit that, after looking at their schedule, zero teams they play are in TN so I guess they are a team, but they aren't a team. So.... a football team that plays other teams from other states. I guess they have zero "playoff" contention.
RebelSoccer
from a quick look at their web site this is basically a sports outlet for homeschool students/groups. They do play each other for a championship but it is only between them not the regular TSSAA playoffs. That being said they probably have their own set of rules. devilsden
Website says they adhere to TSSAA rules doesn't say they belong to TSSAA. Play teams from North & South Carolina I think, Camden Military for example.
hsfbfan777
If you transfer from one school to another you must sit out a year no matter what.Unless you transfer to Maryville or Alcoa then somehow you are magically eligible
