I hear they are loaded with talent!!! Going to be a force to reckon with in 1A!!!

After seeing them and other teams in 7A play; they are going to be the 3rd best team at best in 7A.

Clay Co is the clearcut favorite especially with Key averaging 40+ppg currently. Monterey doesn't make it past the first round of the region tourney.

They are better than last year but you are way overhyping their Cookeville transfers. They played LA close but only beat C-Range by one.

No Over-hype when your a homer lol! I knew they would be around 3rd this year! The Cookeville boys was averaged into the factor after i seen them on Football field! If they do like they did in Football they will come on later! Not really a basketball fan but i am from Monterey and want to see them all do good! Clay will make another deep run this year like last and i think Monterey will show up late in season and upset a couple teams come time! My Opinion this is the best Basketball team since the Castle boys in 92-94 season! Those teams was good! Good luck to all Region teams! I also think Monterey will shine in Baseball this year also with a deep run!!!

Why did players transfer from Cookeville to Monterey?

100% playing time. There would be no other reason to transfer. Monterey got a new school but how many high school kids actually care about that. There would still be 10x more opportunity at Cookeville.

I got to watch them on Football field and couple of them didnt start but got playing time! They for sure would not of seen playing time at Cookeville! With that said a Average player at 6A school could be a stand out in a 1A! I think baseball will be the sport that will reflect the most! We picked up some pretty good players to go along with our returning team! Either way we are glad to have them and if they want to we would like to get about 5 big line men to replace the 5 we lost this year!! lol Send them on up the Mountain!

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
