7 TSSAA State Champions

The Number 1 and 2 Coaches in the State.

In my opinion this event is the premiere Dual in the state.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great event and kudos to those putting it on, but there's a bit of hyperbole here. Maybe the premier USA Wrestling FS/GR dual in the state, but there are definitely other bigger, more stringent tournaments overall. But I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Number 1 & 2 coaches in the state?? Hahaha. No disrespect to Bosken but he's still wet behind the ears. Smith is building a legacy but I think it's still too early to saddle him with this title.

I agree with the others, we need to see results! If you can't post tournament results you're going to have a hard time claiming you held a premier event. Surely someone kept a scorebook that can be shared. And before you pile on me, yes I attended and paid my admission, but I only followed my Region. I would like to see individual results for the others.

I don't think there will be any results to post. I know books were kept but nothing was online. And I doubt anybody is going to jump on typing out all the results that were hand written just for coachT.

I believe Bowers was referring to the two head coaches from the #1 and #2 teams in the state this year.

But either way, I would not argue against them being ranked up there in the same spot simply as coaches either. Smith has obviously proven himself with hardware. I don't think anyone is arguing that... but Bosken did not just walk into an already developed team of kids that were coached by someone else. Those kids were taught by Josh at a young age and he primed them for high school. Then he had the luxury of being able to follow them up to the high school and continue with that group he's been working with for years. If you don't consider him one of the top coaches in the state, you haven't been paying attention to the youth level and one of the main reasons why Cleveland has stayed so good on a consistent basis over the last handful of years. Coaching skill cannot simply be measured in high school hardware. What he has done at the youth level and with the HS kids during the offseason is very impressive! He may not have the hardware yet, but no doubt he will produce plenty of hardware over his career as head coach. Two great coaches that will rank among the best ever in TN once they step down.

I understand that the results of the Duals would be nice to see, but the scores were kept by hand this year, so with that in mind if anyone want to know a specific out come of a match up please ask. To type up every dual on Coach T would be way to much to ask for, next year the Best of the Best will be on Trackwrestling.com. I appreciate all the feed back and support for this great tournament. I am always available by phone at 574-215-8586, if you have any questions.

Again Thank you for all your support.

    • Understand the young thing.  I was one of those.  Barely 17 when I graduated from high school and started college.  But redshirting for athletic purposes isn't doing them any favors, in my opinion.  Life isn't always going to be fair.

    • The Girls Basketball team I am a part of played for a gold ball this season. One of the biggest differences in the sports is that there is no field prep/maintenance in basketball.   Our baseball is successful and play 30 games in the regular season as well. All of the teams dedicate A LOT of time in preparing for their next opponent.
    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say they have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
