Probably can move the games back to MTSU or Vanderbilt. In D2 have two classes based on the amount of financial aid gieven by a school in stead of size. I would like to see the publics go back to three or four classes and eliminate the first two rounds of playoffs. I do not believe the current incarnation of the T$$AA will allow this to happen. They prefer a watered down product that pumps more cash out.

At that point, we could adopt this new system. Keep in mind the selected media members would have no affiliation to a specific team or region: It would be interesting to develop some type of formula to rank the Semi-final teams at the end of the season. This would involve elements such as Strength of schedule, region finish, home and away wins etc.. Combine this formula with a very specific number of media members recognized for their Statewide coverage to rank the final four teams (playoff committee). Poll the selected media members for the 1-4 rankings and then combine that with the computer rankings and set the matchups. One vs. Four and Two vs. Three for the semi-finals. Top ranked team hosts (one and two). Then have a legit title game in Cookeville for each class. This would be inline with our current College Football Championship. The upside to this plan is the four semi-finalist had to play their way into the Title game so they can't be "left out" like the college version. Not JUST no ... but HECK NO! atrisk
As close as I could count there are: 49 A public schools, 47 2a public schools, 48 3a public schools, 48 4a public schools, 52 5a public schools & 50 6a public schools. I think being the Champs or co-chps out of that many participants is pretty good. And what's so bad about making a high schooler feel good about themselves? URSUS
Why not just one class that includes all publics and all privates. That would not be watered down. Huge championship game attendance! A championship that really meant something. Some of you that are talking about four classes of public’s and two classes of privates are still offering a more water downed product than existed 25 years ago. If they can do 3 classes in basketball (and there are more teams playing hoops than football) then the state can get by with 3 classes in football for D1 and one class for D2. 32 teams make the playoffs, no losing team will get in, larger districts and less travel. Play the title game at Vanderbilt or MTSU time to leave Cookeville. Edited January 19, 2018 by QSouth89

NO intepretation of schedules. No interpretations from media writers or gurus. NOTHING where bias can slip into the process. NOTHING. I DON'T TRUST FOLKS, even those who THINK they are being un-biased. The only thinng that matters is the PLAY on the field. Region standings. PERIOD. Throw all of that other junk OUT of the window. It has no place in this. SMH. The current play-off format has it right. I DO NOT CARE ABOUT TEAMS WITH LOSING RECORDS GETTING INTO THE PLAYOFFS. I'll take that over selection committees every time without having to think about it! There is no perfect system BUT the current system insures that there is no bias whatsoever. THAT is paramount. THAT is the MOST IMPORTANT. Anything else is crap! Edited January 19, 2018 by kwc
