  3. I just got to know...UCSportsfan, you keep talking about Unaka and Wartburg being rewarded due to geography. I have to question this. What are they suppose to do? Should they stop playing girls basketball at those two schools? Should they drive to other parts of the state just to play ball? I mean, really what is your solution? Further, have you even been part of a state tournament in another state? I have. Cry all you want about geography, but in other states (I will use Iowa as an example), you have district tournaments, then region tournaments, then sub state, then the Elite 8. It is the very same thing. Until you create a better system, that is cost effective without forcing a team from upper east Tennesse to have to go to Memphis (yes, that is an exaggeration) to qualify for state, I would suggest you stop whining like a 2 year old about Wartburg and Unaka. All I can say is Unaka beat a 29-3 Tellico Plains to get here.

  4. Palmer’s only loss this season was to Whitworth who put Palmer on his back twice in that match. Noah only wrestled 26 at state because he lost to Palmer in wrestle off. Whitworth wins 26...

  6. It doesn't matter how badly you want to be good if there is no talent there. Small schools are going to have a few good years when they have some good classes of kids and then they will fall off when there is no talent. CA can bypass this problem to a certain extent because they can attract more than just kids from the local middle school. I have coached and seen some really good and some really bad teams. I can assure you that we worked just as hard or harder when we weren't very good. I just don't buy CA's reasoning for staying in D1. Many of your arguments against the small Maury County schools could be applied to CA trying to avoid playing with ALL OF THE OTHER PRIVATE SCHOOLS. CPA faced the same criticisms for the way their Boys' Basketball program was run. All of those criticisms disappeared when they moved to D1. Why does CA seem so determined to stay D1 if it isn't about having a competitive advantage over their opposition? Don't give me the same old natural rivals bs or the travel costs excuse. Please enlighten us with the truth.

  7. I agree 100% with you old school. It was crazy that the 4th and 5th place team got as many all district selections as first place. Tullahoma plays 5 on 4 the entire game because all the MVP wants to do is snowbird, her team will eventually get tired of that. So hard to watch that and not get aggravated.

  12. It is embarrassing for DB (one of the largest schools in the state) and I'm throwing SH, besides Pitts 3 state championships not to have won nothiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. Both schools well over 2000 students plus everyone they can sway from local schools and still have won nothiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. In recent memory 2 states from Sullivan North (baseball) and stole Ritz, still nothiiiiiiiiiiiing, 1 state Sullivan South (baseball), 1 state Unaka (basketball). Last but not least Greenville (football). Volleyball, softball, and track aren't relevant. Please don't bring up the states that was voted on by the press, (they don't count). I guess the folks in Kpt. and JC are happy with beating up on the local schools.

  15. I heard a rumor that a bus full of girls and coaches from Bearden drove down today. I guess they're playing the preliminary game. Looking forward to seeing the young lady from Bradley playing in the tournament but I can't pull for them. Still haven't gotten over Steve Sloan and his teammates beating Ron Widby and my other teammates in the 1962 finals.
