I saw East Hickman at Gibson County pre-season playday and I’m not sure they have the horses to run with Gibson though I could be wrong. Taylor Holt is a good player for EH but I’m not sure they’ll beat Gibson.

Upperman’s guards are too good and more importantly too experienced to press. They have been playing vs much better teams than Cumberland and in much bigger games. It is apparent when they play. My biggest concern about Cumberland is they have not played any District competition for 4 years. In 7AA they never lost a game the whole time. Now they are playing big game after big game vs teams and coaches that know how to win. They look overmatched vs Upperman.

Would venture to say Cchs guards have not scored 20 pts in the 3 meetings. CCHS marquee player hasn't scored 10 pts in 3 meetings. Just think if they could produce then the gap would close and they would win, simple.

The things that I have noticed over the last 30 years with regards to kids being successful in college wrestling: 1. You have to stay away from serious injuries. All college wrestlers deal with being dinged up but the serious injuries are what derail a career 2. Kids must be very prepared academically or they are truly behind the 8 ball. When doing 2 or 3 workouts per day the athletes are exhausted after the last practice but must then go and complete their required academic assignments. 3. If athletes are not very mature and don’t have great time management skills their career becomes a train wreck. 4. Most college kids are living on their own for the very first time and making their own decisions. If the parents have always made the decisions the kids don’t have the necessary skills to just survive.

Using that philosophy then a team would have to be undefeated to be number 1? No undefeated teams would mean no number 1 teams? There is plenty of room for Pin TN and Rank Wrestler, is there not?
