  1. Maryville is great in all areas. Every other team in 4A should try to rise to their level instead of making excuses at how Maryville has achieved the success they have enjoyed.
  2. Carson Newman just got a great person and player. Good luck Dylan. It will be a lot easier for me to catch one of your games now!
  3. It doesn't matter who picks the team when approximately 25 players that were originally selected elect NOT to play. With this game being so close to the start of next season I am sure many of the players (and their college coaches) don't want them to risk injury.
  4. Maryville just beat us, you will get no excuses from Morristown West. I congratulate them on another great season. I have never seen a run of sustained dominance like this at any level, and the Rebs are to be congratulated. Good luck next week. To the Trojans, what a great year you had! 13 wins the most in the history of the city. More important than that was the way you carried yourselves and played for each other all year. To the Seniors, Thank you is not enough (but is the best I can come up with) and I can promise you this group will NEVER be forgotten! Now I am REALLY off this website for at least 8 months, have a great Christmas and God speed to all!
  5. Way to go Dylan! I haven't been on this website in about 6 months (until this morning) and now I remember why. This site used to be a good place to talk high school football, but over the past year it has turned into too much useless drivel. I wonder how many of these people posting some of this garbage actually play for the teams involved. I hope very few, because surely they would have more sense than that. The truth is when someone can use an alias you don't really know who you are talking to. As always the Trojans respect the Rebels very much for all they have accomplished. I do think if I know the Trojans like I think I do they will show up and fight for 48 minutes this Friday night, beyond that no one can really predict anything. It will be decided by the kids on the field, which is one of the things that make high school football so great! Best of luck to all involved. I may check in on this website again in another 6 months, but until then take care.
  6. Mr. James, it is great to hear from you. God bless you and thank you for your sacrifice for our country! You and the rest of the 278th are in our prayers! On another much less important note....This is my last post or visit to this site. I haven't been on this site in months and now I remember why. Life is too precious and short to bog yourself down with people who talk trash about kids that you care about under an assumed name. I wish everyone the best of luck and an injury free 2005 season. Transplant out....take care.
  7. Brandon Fanney-Morristown West to Alabama. Carl Stewart-Maryville to Auburn.

    4A Champion

No one closely associated with Morristown West is predicting any sort of championship. We are just trying to work as hard as we can this summer (and hopefully fall) to bet the best team we can possibly be. Our players, coaches, and fans need to just try and be humble and let the games be played.
  10. Helton is a very tough player to contain, but another QB in that region Cody Watts is a heck of a player also. Deceptive speed and a great athlete. Those 2 will cause nightmares for defensive coordinators all year.
  11. Coach Courtney is an excellent coach and an even better person. This situation is very close to my heart because my family has been hit hard by cancer. I will pray for he and his family daily. I know that he will pull through this fine. God Bless to Coach and his family.
  12. I am not an insider to this situation and don't know the details, but the fact that OR "doesn't contact coaches" may be why they had this mess in the first place.
  13. I don't know this person, but it is always a great thing when someone beats cancer. Congratulations to her and her family.
  14. If you know who it is come on out with it.
  15. RR, I wouldn't worry too much about Coach Quarles leaving Maryville. However, it will be mighty interesting to see who the Wildcats go after.
  16. So Stephens is coming back it seems. When should this be announced?
  17. As an alumnus of The University of South Carolina, I am delighted that Cade has chosen to play for the Gamecocks. He seems like a class kid, and I know from first hand knowledge that he can play! Spurrier most likely just got one of the biggest steals of the recruiting year. It will be good to pull for Mr. Thompson, instead of rooting against him as I have the last 3 years against my MoWest Trojans. Good luck Cade!
  18. I have lived in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and now Tennessee, and in my opinion high school football is most avidly followed and supported with more passion in Alabama than any of the other states. Football isn't life and death there, it is more important! The other states are great also, just my opinion.
  19. I would also like to congratulate Maryville on another State Championship. It really is amazing how the Rebels always seem to get it done. You have set the bar amazingly high, and it is up to the rest of us in 4A football to try to reach your level.
  20. Cade is a great player no doubt. As a Morristown West supporter I won't be sad to see him go! I think he will surprise some people at the college level. He reminds me of another quarterback I saw at the high school level who not many people thought would go very far......his name is Phillip Rivers. He played at Athens, AL and neither Bama or Auburn recruited him. I am not saying Cade will turn out that well, but sometimes kids who work hard and are smart have a chance to turn out better than you think. Congratulations to Cade.
  21. I saw the 1st half of the Chatham game you guys are rolling! Best of luck the rest of the way.
  22. FBE, The best compliment I can pay your program is that in my opinion you are the New England Patriots of Tennessee High School football. No superstars just a lot of really good players who are well-coached and play together as a team. We need to try to get to that level. We missed playing y'all in the play-offs this year, but we have a lot of work to do before we can think about getting back to that level. Again good luck next week.
  23. Congratulations Maryville. You proved again last night why you are the top program in 4A. I knew after the 1st series for each team that Tennessee High was in trouble. It reminded me a lot of our (Mo. West) regular season game versus the Rebels in 2002. You get hit early like that by the Rebels and you have to respond or they will just pour it on. They have a great killer instinct. I hope the Rebels, Tornadoes, and Falcons bring their respective Gold Balls back to East Tennessee next week. Good luck.
