  1. I'm a little reluctant to ask this but I have to.....Does Mini-Burger still have the bug zapper inside the restaurant? That had to be a ridiculous violation. I already know the answer to that one, just had to throw that out there.
  2. You might want to add Ralph's to the "Eye-tin-ere-rarie". Good donuts and plenty of stay awake. You get there late enough you can "ejucait" some of the recovering student body from Tech.
  3. That's good to here, not regarding Burger Chef but the growth news. There was always plenty of potential there, but as you know growth can be extremely dangerous. Glad to here it was done right!
  4. Easy there APB....We actually still had a Burger Chef when I was there. Remember the burgers came in a plastic baggy? We even had a Burger Chef sign on the outfield wall @ the baseball field.
  5. I believe the TSSAA has it backwards....I think they should have 3 maybe 4 playoff classifications and 6 classifications for allstate, mr. Football, etc. That way we wouldn't see the occasional 2 win 8 loss team get into the playoffs. I thought when there were 3 classifications the competition was much better. JMHO. Back to the subject....Juhlin deserved serious consideration.
  6. Is Ralph's still there? Haven't been through CookeVegas since I graduated from Tech in '93.
  7. The F5 wins this one....I know, I know....I'm going out on a limb here....really going against the grain....28 points.
  8. As I said last week, the F5 by 21. Betsy, Alcoa plays serious ball control. You may only get the ball 5 times the whole night. That explains Alcoa not really blowing opponents out like you would expect them to. The defense stays fresh and can go 110% all night. Congrats on a fine season and those are some killer BBQ sammiches yall serve up there!!!!
  9. Thoughts and Prayers to you and yours DP.
  10. Ought to add Todd Willmore to the list. Brian Nix would be great!!! He's young, he's got CRAZY energy and can motivate. Honestly, I think he's happy but you have to wonder when and if he wants to be a Head Coach.
  11. The T$$AA....Plan Z, this, what's next? A few villages are missing various idiots.
  12. While I can't attest to what you've seen in the East...I find it hard to believe you can put ANY team in the "top 5" defenses that gave up 51 points (Daniel Boone)in a single game...(i don't care if they played Appalachian State)! On the other hand, if Seymour had one of the top 5 defenses...then they're season wouldn't be over with a record of 4-7....again....just my opinion! Seymour gave up 168 points in 11 games...while Daniel Boone allowed 165 points and are still alive. On the other hand..(or should I say..the other side of the state)..Lawrence County has only allowed 131 points through 11 games (55 of those points were allowed during the first 2 games of the year in their losses to Columbia and Giles County) but will certainly be stretched this week against Memphis Mitchell...the Green Wave from Gallatin have only had 127 points scored against them (42 of the 127 were given up in a shoot out against Mt. Juliet), and of course, the Patriots of Henry County who have been to the semis each of the last 3 years apparently has their best defense over this period of time allowing only 112 points on the season through 11 games! By the numbers...or "top 5" 1. Henry County 112 points allowed 2. Gallatin 127 points allowed 3. Lawrence County 131 points allowed 4. Tennessee High 140 points allowed 5. Clarksville Northeast 142 points allowed Then "by the numbers" Mitchell, then Clinton, then Daniel Boone, then Seymour, then Columbia, then Melrose, the Beech.....Sullivan South, Knox Catholic, Anderson County, and Hillsboro have all allowed over 200 points through 11 games thus far! I would have to rank Knox Catholic Higher than just based on points allowed. Those guys have played in one of the tougher districts in the state with Maryville, Farragut, Bearden, etc. I wouldn't be surprised to see Coach Meadows in a deep playoff run.
  13. APB....Seriously, hooking is legal in Farragut?
  14. Looks like somebody is jealous of the valley teams. Cumberland Co over that's right they are playing basketball Polk over Alcoa. Polk doesn't make it to Alcoa.
  15. Gotta go with the Admirals on this one. This should have been a second round game instead of a first round game.
  16. It looks as if someone is trying to take the focus off of a certain team in the Chatanooga area that lost to a team that we beat 49-6. I don't know...call me crazy. Good Luck against Farragut....something tells me you will need it
  17. They also have tremendous, tall recievers Jordan Ferguson and Kenny Dean. They will also have an impact on the defense in the coming years. Watched those guys in middle school baseball and they are very good athletes. McMurray kid is going to be a shut down cornerback!!!! Let me tell you, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
  18. Koko is going to be a good one! We need him to step up in the coming seasons against a very strong Rebel freshman group! Haven't had a chance to see the Rebel freshman but have heard good things. It is a great time to be alive in Blount County....especially if you are a football fan. What is the other freshman RB's name @ Alcoa that is so good. I have talked to him a time or two, but I'm getting old....memory is slipping!
  19. Alcoa scoreboard: Fri Aug. 21 at Bell Co. (KY) W 42-14 Fri Aug. 28 #1 Maryville W 41-24 Fri Sep. 4 at #21 Loudon D W 21-0 Fri Sep. 11 at #13 Fulton W 27-7 Fri Sep. 18 Scott County D W 42-15 Fri Sep. 25 at Howard W 49-0 Fri Oct. 2 at Kingston D W 49-7 Fri Oct. 16 Stone Memorial D W 49-6 Alcoa coaches will not run a score up. After a 21-28 point lead, starters are pulled to allow development in younger players. No major injuries. Toney played 1 1/2 qtrs in the last game, but made 5 tds, and 116 yards on 9 carries. He currently has 30 td's for the year Alcoa has some tough games ahead in McMinn Central and CAK. And then a tough road thru the play-off's with potential games against(in no order).....Polk Co., CAK again, A-E, McMinn Central again, and Elizabethton. Thanks BC...Can't wait to see a few of those frosh develop. EK is about as fluid as they get. He will make a difference next season.
  20. Just like every week they are scheduled....if Alcoa shows up with their chinstraps buckled, cleats laced and their heads on right it could really hurt! I haven't been to any Alcoa games since they whipped my Rebels, the scores I have seen aren't indicative of how dominate Alcoa looked vs. Maryville. Do they seem to be going through the motions? Is anyone hurt? My guess is they are resting Toney as much as possible. However the backups can light the scoreboard up too. Could anyone enlighten me? Thanks.
  21. The passing game will be fine, however I believe the running attack would bring the safeties cheating up and that would open up the deep threat. The passing game just lacks experience, it will develop. Must be nice to really not have to worry about it. Who started this thread?
  22. No. Powell wasn't. They were a tough matchup for Maryville with the 4 guards, but that 25 point win was a fluke. If they hit 15 3-pointers and shoot 75% against Oakland in 2007, I would bet that they win that game. I watched the Powell-Oakland game. That Powell team had a lot of heart. Powell didn't have the all-around game that it takes to advance in the state tournament. Bearden doesn't shoot well enough from the perimeter to win the Gold Ball. JMHO.
