  1. ILLEGAL RECRUITING CHAMPION? Really? The program recruits itself. I think and know hard work and pride place the Maryville Program at the top, win or lose. All of you naysayers and ill willed types just have to be content in loseing until you learn hard work and determination are proven to be what it takes get to the top and stay there. Don't think Maryville won't be tough just because my kid with three rings and a champions attitude and status will be in the stands next year. You can bet he will be supporting the younger kids at MHS. Trust me the Red Rebels will be ready for anyone who shows up on the other side of the ball friday nights next year! Go Rebs!

    Alcoa Job

Fickert, never won at WB, why would a program like Alcoa want him there? I thought he was in hideing for what he did at WB. Gaylor would be the best pick from Maryville and has successful head coaching experience.

    Maryville Coaches

This thread was started concerning the possible loss of Maryville Coaches. GQ does have a future elsewhere, when he decides as does Pinkerton. The other coaches like it here and most of the main guys have been part of the program for about 10 years. They like winning, hard working kids and the parent and fan support. The PROGRAM will never fall off completly because of tradition. Guys who played here in the 40's and 50's still show up friday nights to watch great HS football. On another note, as for this goat guy, it should be blocked from the site. Most all of his posts are Negitive and serve no postive purpose to the board at large.

    Region 3-4A

JP, no one in 3-4A feeds on the bottom. Your opinions are class-less and my vote is to ban you. 1. Maryville 2. West 3. Central 4. Clinton 5. Halls 6. Carter 7. Powell 7. West
  5. I can agree, "Outsiders' would think Maryville will be down. Well I don't know about a losing season, I think not. Maryville has many young men ready to step up and play big. One factor Maryville has that has not been mentioned is the Second and Third strings played allot of football on Friday nights this past year and played against other teams starters pretty well. Maryville can and will match up to anyone in its region right now. Central will be a great game as always, but don't think the Red and Black are ready to give up THEIR crown yet. By the way my freshman son is in the garage right now lifting and I am looking for cash for yet another of my son's state championship ring donation! Go Rebs!

    hillsboro???

As a Maryville Fan and Dad I can tell you I think Maryville had more depth and made the plays when they had to. I agree they should be one of the top programs in the state again. If you are a really a Maryville fan, show some class and give respect to a great bunch of Hillsboro people. Hillsboro is a great team, good program and have class. Afew mistakes in that 4th quarter and the gold ball would be in Hillsboro. Also the chances of Hillsboro getting back to the SC game with thier returning talent are some better than my rebs. We will have alot of work to do to make it back.
  7. Middle School is middle school, High school is very diff. The kids do the real work and if you have a coaching spot at the middle school level you are a middle school coach. It is also false to think these kids develope and are ready to play friday nights because of middle school experience. Many middle school players are harmed by middle school coachs and decide not to play at all in high school. The middle school programs are important but are not the reason Maryville is the top program in the state.

    Maryville Football

I think for Maryville to get deep into the play-offs next year will be very tough. The Clement kid and Rouse are clearly better athleticly than Thompson. Thompson was just at the right place at the right time. The soph class also has four or five better athletes thean Cade. Cade is a great kid and does work hard but will be the back-up QB at best because he is to slow to catch balls for the present offence the GQ runs. GQ leaves and who know's! The key is the soph class because most of next years senior classes starters set out part of this year due to injury. Having said that Central will again be the only competion but Maryville will have a large target on thier backs while they develope some younger players. My .02 worth. Go Rebs!
  9. My dream would be for this great football area to have an all-star football classic at the end of the SC games, every year. The all-stars of Blount County MHS, HHS, WBHS & Alcoa's play together at UT -vs- the KFL HS all-stars. The coaches would combine. Would that be a great game and event?? What a dream!
  10. All of my kids go to Maryville go for the overall education experience. #1 Academics. I do not live in the city therefore I paid for them to attend. The school demands excellence in everything they do. Academics get some of the highest grades in the state. Great programs and teams and teachers. Am I bad because I want the best for my kids. My sons past and present have played and contrubited to the success to the football program this and past years. The list goes on and on. I know about the Lawhon kid and him asking his parents to put in the Maryville school for the football among some other reasons mentioned above. A few WB people/fans talked to his folks like dogs over it. The kid will do well in the system and if he develops like his big brother did and will play at the next level after MHS. That won't happen at WB. The county programs are broke and what is an athlete to do??
  11. How did alcoa get tossed into the talk of great football teams? Alcoa is a 2A program and can not compete with PROGRAMS like Maryville's! Once and a while Alcoa might win a game in an off year, but really?
  12. Me don't care about how much the whole team lifts! Maryville is ready to play and they will slow down or stop Mr. Byrant. It is a team game the last time I checked and Maryville is a team that has been stoping great runners the past three years by committiee, this game should not be any diff. The question seems to fall to the passing game, If Hillsboro can't throw on Maryville for 150 yds or more they lose, simple! Maryville will throw on Hillsboro for at least 150 yds and Carl and Chris, will add another 150+ at least. IF Maryville shows up ready to play a great Hillsboro team they fit rings again on Monday! MHS 30 HHS 17.
  13. Mr. bryant playes both ways very well. This fact should give an advantage to Maryville I think because does not put all of its eggs in one basket. There are hitters standing on the sidelines looking for a chance to get into the game! Looking forward to a great match up. Go Rebs
  14. Yes if your in the game buy them at the school. Then half comes back to the school.
  15. I have to agree with the above If Mr. Bryant likes contact he will find it Sat and will be in the right place! There is no question he is a concern and Hillsboro is not being taken lightly by the Reb's. Practice this week has been very focused and the team will be ready physically and emotionally. Hodge and Killebrew have been working hard and will be ready to help the team D stop whoever. Cole has done a great job but is seldom the only guy who hits a runner, the LB's are ready to paste anyone who trys to come up the middle. Maryville has Mr. Waters who would be ready to rotate in to DT to keep the meat fresh on the line if needed. It is the last game for a great senior class you can bet they are pumped and ready for a battle with a great Hillsboro team! If your not going because it is on TV, you'll miss it. Go Rebs!!!
  16. Hey Hillsboro Fan, good luck to your geat team! Ask around, Maryville has stopped every great running back from running over them by playing solid position football. Ask Mr. Riggs the great hope for UT, Last year. Mr. Milligan of Powell, is a great runner as well. These guys got a few yards but no points! And to his size there is a saying the bigger they are....the harder they,,,,, Well you know. MHS 35 HHS 21
  17. If you are #98, ask your coach if you can watch the tape to review your preformance. You coach should have talked to you about your att and lack of disipline. I ofcourse will because the vast majority of players and fans for Morristown West are Classy and you are apart of a great team, don't blow it. If I could suit to play infront of you it would not be a problem, my friend. My question would be, will you hit me after the wistle and in the back like you did friday? By the way don't you have equipment to turn in or something? Maryville has practice, I got to go. Go Rebs
  18. From the inside I know Hodge and Killebrew are getting some therapy and should be ready to contrubute to stoping a great Hillsboro team. I agree is will be a game but the rebs seem to be getting thier wind and the o is really beginning to click. Maryville's D will be ready to stop anything that comes it's way. Looking forward to the rematch! MHS 28 HHS 17
  19. Chuck Prugh is the back-up center for Wells at UT. Toki McCray is a QB at East Carolina and there are others.
  20. FLUKE! Ok I'll take a fluke like that any time.If you are ridding on the over-confidence train or that the last game was a fluke, then you'll be sadly mistaken. Not saying it can't happen because anything is possible at this point in the season, but make no misstake the Maryville Team is very focused! My son who plays says they are ready and have been warned by the Coaches not to look past more west. I know they won't because this group of seniors are leaders and will be ready for sure. see you there!!
  21. But of Course Morr West has a chance. They are a good football team and have improved somewhat. Every good team stands a chance to defeat a great team. I must tell you Morr West has an uphill climb. They are playing in front of the Maryville home crowd against a team that routed them in less than one half of football on thier home field. One would expect that Maryville has improved as well. It might be a great game, no one knows. I can offer you this, in my 8 years of watching Maryville football I would easly say this team is the most focused I have ever seen at this point in the season, and the program has been here before. The rebels will not be looking past Morr West and respects them as a good football team. Good luck to you and your team and we'll see you there.
  22. The game will be a great send off for the Rebels to the borro. West has improved, as has Maryville. Maryville is two deep everywhere and will be very focused upon Mor West. To win the game Morr west will have to pass and run and have to take the ball away 4-5 times. They can not stand toe to toe with Maryville, this year. This is not disrespect, to a good team, just fact. We went to the game on sat afternoon and saw a one sided Morr West O. All ground and about 20 yards in the air. This type of plan will spell defeat for any Maryville challenger. A team will only beat Maryville by committee, not by two or three great players. MHS 49 MWHS 10
  23. I to am a proud Maryville Fan and dad. My son who were apart of the program and now another son is makes me even all the more proud. The fans in the stands are a great fellowship and very supportive, it is a hunor to be apart of that as well. The young men have always conducted themselves with a great deal of class. This is a credit to great parents, teachers, coaches and many great fans and ex-players. Go Rebs, win or lose friday you are champions!!
  24. Me thinks I am not to dumb, ANSPA! I really feel Central is a better team and Milligan of Powell would have run over many of the Cleveland d backs. Cleveland beat Central by Centrals own mistakes. Cleveland had one good drive on Maryville. A drive that took about 8 and half min, fighting for every yard on 4 third down situations. Maryville simply did not make many mistakes or enough for Cleveland to be in scoring position. Go Rebs
  25. Good job by both teams and it was a great field. Wish the visitor bleachers were higher, was hard to see some plays. But great place to watch two outstanding teams. Mistakes do hurt good teams. Maryville is now on a roll and should roll next week in front of a packed home crowd! My congrats to the young men of Maryville, the coaches and the best travling high school football fans in Tennessee. Go Rebs!
