  1. Yes it has been pretty sad in Warren Cty for several years in football. Had a few good baseball teams in the last 5 years though. Players and coaches is what you need- and a community that is tired of not competing!
  2. Didnt look like the same Hendersonville team that defeated Riverdale earlier in the season!
  3. Haha-yea spent to much time in Detroit! The Cavs gave the Warriors a run for their money in 04 and 05; The 04 Cavs was the first team to score a touchdown on the Warriors in several games in the 3rd round of the playoffs-the warriors went on and won the state championship that year. The 05 Cavs should have beat the Warriors the following year and lost by a point in Cookeville. Since then the Cavs and the Warriors haven't been the same- the Warriors might be returning to dominance again. The Cavs lack size and defensive toughness of those 04/05 teams! But maybe better days ahead!
  4. Its been several years since Joslin and his team have lost two games back to back- I predict a Cookeville win!
  5. Congratulations Cookeville- The TSSAA wanted change and Cookeville grabbed the opportunity. The attendance at the championship games the last few years has been declining- if you want the same results keep doing the same things. Unfortunately Cookeville has not had a team in the championship game for decades- so highschool football at that calibur has not been seen in many years-I predict an entire community turn out for these games. The press boxes are not as large as MTSU but rennovations will be done by December- plus I thought it was about the players anyway- not the executes and officials. Dressing rooms- Tucker stadium has two- the 8,000 seat basketball arena/ Hopper Eblen across parking lot from Tucker stadium- along with beautiful student recreational facility with more large rooms- used for teams. Hotels galore with dozens of national chain restaurants all neatly nestled in the same general area. Easy access to stadium from interstate. Plus a community that is thrilled to have the games and people- compared to a community who has grown accustomed to having it their way! Congrats Cookeville- David slayed two Goliath's this week and in December- Little Cookeville will host the best football teams in the state!
  6. Way to go Cavs!!! This spring may be good in Cookeville-at least it's starting out good! Any win over Riverdale is a good win!
  7. Wow, Cleveland has a good team. It was a one sided game and proved the Cavs are what everyone suspected-rebuilding. Our team speed is so far removed from the past two years. We couldn't keep up on defense and for once Coach J had no answers for Cleveland's talent and scheme. It was an embarrassing night for Homecoming, the type of night we thought was behind us at Cookeville, seeing we haven't been on that type of loss in several years. Look for Cleveland to be there toward the end of the playoffs. Cavs 3-3 -wow !!!!!!
  8. I haven't seen Cleveland play this year and the Cavs don't have the headknockers they have had the past two years. But Joslin is the best in TN in preparing his team. Unless Cleveland is far better talent wise than the Cavs, you must always give the edge to crafty Joslin.
  9. The game was one sided until the second half. Lebanon dominated our offensive line. Coach J made the adjustments at halftime, but it was to much to overcome. 2 losses in 4 games for the Cavs, that hasn't happened in several years.
  10. Yep tonight proved the Cavs are not what they have been the past two years, but they are good enough to beat White Cty again. As always Coach J takes advantage of other teams mistakes. Good try Warriors, remember your famous war cry-"there is always next year"
  11. I would enjoy a good close nailbiter tonight for a change. This game as every year has the hype but for the past 9 years there has been no action to back up the talk. I don't think things will change this year either. The Cavs just have the larger pool of atheletes to pull from and it shows. The Cavs have one of the best game day coaches in TN and their depth is huge compared to Sparta. The Warriors may hang with Ckvl for one half but I see it as last year, adjustments and depth will be to much for Sparta. The Cavs by 21
  12. White County you better try and get us this year because we are reloading, having to replace a lot of starters. If you don't get us this year it will be another long stretch of winlessness against the Cavs. And there is no way you could beat us last year or the year before or before or before. Thi season is your only hope. But I predict WC will lose to the Cavs by 10
  13. Wilson, if you want to win in college, don't go to Tech!
  14. Good man, great coach, hard working, demands respect, runs a clean program, builds community support, promotes team concept, fantastic game day coach, makes average players over achievers. The only negative is that he doesn't help his players go to the next level as other coaches do as far as promoting them and helping them in the recruiting process. He was a walk on and expects others to as well.
  15. I called it on the Riverdale/Oak Ridge thread, "Riverdale is beatable this year" and I was right! Congrats Oak Ridge and a shutout to beat it all!!!!!!
  16. I called it on the Riverdale/Oak Ridge thread, "Riverdale is beatable this year" and I was right! Congrats Oak Ridge and a shutout to beat it all!!!!!!
  17. As I stated on another thread, Riverdale is beatable this year, and I was right! Congratulations Oak Ridge!!!!
  18. Maybe Randy Sanders or Andy McClloum will apply.
  19. Because the season is not over yet. Last years team was unbeatable and was undefeated. Any team still playing is beatable. I know that's difficult for Riverdale faithful to swallow but your team is beatable and your coaches know it. If they are unbeatable then why waste time practicing this next week. See this is a perfect example so many dislike Riverdale-many of their fans are so cocky!
  20. Congrats to both teams on a well played game. The Cav defense just couldn't get it done at the end. Riverdale knows how to win and when the pressure is on they take it up to a different level. But the Warriors are beatable this year. Last year they were unbeatable, but this year maybe someone will get them. Congratulations to the Cav seniors-great bunch of kids who have played hard and demonstrated a lot of class for 3 years. A few of them will be playing on Saturday next year and a couple of them will probably be playing basketball in college. The last two years the Cav seniors have brought the program up to a greater place than has been seen in many many years. Next year, well we will have to wait and see-it could be rebuilding season.
  21. Go Cavs!!!! The Warriors need to bring their spear and try to spike it at midfield at the beginning of this game and see what happens. It has been a long time since Riverdale has played in front of such a vocal and hostile crowd as they will find this coming Friday at Eddie Watson Stadium. Riverdale always brings out the hostility in their opponents but this Friday the intensity will be ay a level I don't think either team has ever seen. Riverdale always has the edge in every game regardless of location, but Cav faithful let's torment the heck out of a team which has been the nemisis of everyone in the state. I don't know if we are good enough to win, but smack them in the mouth as Coach J often says and remind them they are not God's gift to high school football. Oh by the way- once again this year Region 3 Champs Cookeville has taken care of the remainder of everyone in region 4. So the last 2 years in the playoffs Cookeville vs Region 4 is 4-1. Once again we may not defeat Riverdale but we have proven ourselves better than anyone else in Region 4.
  22. Cookeville by 14 Region 4 has domintaed for years and should because they are good teams from top to bottom. But last year the Cavs were expected to be upset by Wilson Central in Round 1 but Cavs won. Then in Round 2 the Bluedevils were suppose to dominate the Cavs but the Cavs won again. In fact Cookeville in Rd 3 was the first team to score on Riverdale in a bunch of quarters, yet Riverdale was unstoppable. But the Cavs beat the rest of Region 4. Cavs will defeat Lavergne, but the real game will be against Wilson Central. It will be the only test the Cavs have had since the Owls in week 0.
  23. The Cavs will play the young guys by the beginning of the fourth quarter. No one in Region 3 can compete with Cavs this year. Kind of like LC 2 years ago. Go Cavs!!!
  24. I love my Cavs, but I am still not sure how good we are in comparison to other good teams in the state. We have only defeated 2 teams with winning records. Last year the Cavs defeated a 6th ranked Antioch team, a Coffee Cty team picked to win the region, a MacGavock team which had won 4 in a row, a Lebanon team which was 8th in the state. This year our region is as weak as I have seen it in many years. Plus we are playing a 1A school. Keep working hard Cavs because playoff time will be a different story with probably no blow outs.
