  1. I heard they had another soon-to-be-8th-grader who was a lights out pitcher, too. Is that true?
  2. Neither link is working for me. I would imagine Chris Harris will be at the USJ/Marshall County game and Kerry Mallard at the Lexington/Goodpasture game. Just a guess, but an educated one.
  3. Will probably be a low-scoring affair. I know JCS is throwing Wood today, who has been virtually untouchable all season. I like JCS, let's say...3-1.
  4. Seriously, that's a question that shouldn't even be asked.
  5. KD, you are off on your statement that JCS lost only one real difference maker. LB's Seth Doyle and Trey Mangrum were big-time playmakers on defense and will be missed as much as Rayner will. They were more talented that you give them credit for, but I agree that the 2005 team was a lot better. The difference now is, and this takes nothing away from Eric Cohu, but it's coaching. They'll do better than USJ did in its first foray into AA. I don't think they make the playoffs, but I think they will surprise some people with how well they compete.
  6. Not if they run into USJ. Any talk of the best AA baseball team in West TN starts and ends with the Bruins.
  7. The answer is pretty simple: youth. Take a look at the rosters of the West TN teams at the Boro. You won't find many seniors that played any minutes. Next year, things will be back to the way they've been for most of the decade.
  8. Mitchell will be very good next year, wouldn't at all be surprised to see them play for a state title. Coach Johnson is a class act. Even in the post-game press conference, he was still coaching. You guys have a good one there.
  9. Uh, do you realize how stacked Bolivar is going to be the next 2-3 seasons? There's no decision to be made even if there is an offer.
  10. Northside is hardly a very average team. Sloppy at times? Yep. But they are a very solid defensive team and have as much speed as East did. The difference is in their size, something East didn't have much of. I really can't understand how East beat them three times this year. The biggest weakness of NS is free throw shooting. 10-29 against Cleveland, 16-34 against Northeast. If they shoot just 65% in the tournament, those wins turn into blowouts. That said, I do think Riverdale will win the game.
  11. That's just the thing...unless you're Oak Hill Academy, you don't make Liberty do anything. They'll play the style of game they want to play, and Fulton won't be able to stop it.
  12. Greenfieldfan already covered the rebounding issue, but I'll cover the free throws. 14 of TCA's 33 attempts came in the final two minutes of the game when Collinwood needed to foul and stop the clock.
  13. That's slightly easier said than done.
  14. The big girls are athletic. They can run just fine. I've seen TCA and Gleason both and I feel that TCA is the better of the two teams. TCA has more size and more depth and is an outstanding defensive team.
  15. Better hope your players and coaches aren't writing off North Side as easily as you are...
  16. Manassas is A, not AAA. They're in District 16-A with Westside and Middleton.
  17. I've seen Manassas play, and I'm sure PC played them early in the season, but if they are indeed fairly equal in skill, it's gonna get real ugly, real quick.
  18. What's scary is how young Bolivar is, and here they are with a good chance to get to sectionals. I got a feeling there'll be another gold ball or two heading back to B-Town in the near future.
  19. That's because West Tenn basketball is heads and tails above Middle Tenn basketball.
  20. No doubt, Mitchell has a very good team. I just think their weak schedule (not really their fault, AA girls basketball in Memphis just isn't very strong) is going to be a detriment the deeper they go in the playoffs.
  21. Win or lose against North Side, I don't think any team from Region 8 will beat Westview in sectionals.
