  1. Sounds like both coaches are making the best of bad situations.
  2. OUTSTANDING !! I love the music selections! Alot of good players for the Wildcats!Congratulations on a great season;I hope next year is even better!
  3. Nobody from Memphis?Nobody from Beech?...... amusing!
  4. Bobby is one of the best coaches and one of the best persons I've ever met.I was extremely sorry to hear of his health problems. All I know to do is to pray for him and his family and let the Lewis co. family know that we are hopeful for a complete recovery of Bobby's illness.I know his positive outlook and mental toughness are going to help Bobby get through this.
  5. You either miss the point ,or I haven't been clear. If you have a bigger crowd, sell more concessions, get stronger competition, don't have the problems you do with the county schools, and generally just feel happier; You need to keep playing Moore co.,East Lit.,Spring Hill, and Wayne Co.You don't need the county schools, but they don't need LCHS either. They can make out a schedule with good gates. No I didn't see East Lit.,.don't plan to,nor do lots of fans.I stand corrected. It's definitley better than playing Summertown or Loretto. Merry Christmas!
  6. At least your not blaming it all on Lawrence County now. I don't know how you arrived at that conclusion from this post.It doesn't make any difference who is to blame the most. The point I was making from your point #5 about scheduling is that Lawrence Co' has the MOST to gain By playing S'town and Loretto.I'm sure there was weeks of anticipation and an "electric"atmosphere when you demolished East Lit. last night. You can keep boasting about your level of competition being above SHS & LHS (and it surely is ;FOR NOW)And they'll never play LCHS again.THEY can get plenty of close games with equal competition ,( You Ccan't because of your size and location),and lot's less aggravation from their own fans and yours.
  7. I've heard that Coach Sharp has some Health Problems.
  8. Actually it was Summertown who wanted to pick and choose what years to play. 1. Summertown and Lawrence County (boys) played each other two summers ago in Columbia. Lawrence County won by about 10 or so give or take a couple of points. But Summertown didn't have one of their best players (Harville). Would have been two outstanding regular season games if they'd played. 2. Loretto beat Lawrence County in the boys game at the "barn" last year. LCHS was way down but still Loretto won. When Loretto came to LCHS's gym, they were beat by 30 at least. Loretto graduated 6 or 7 seniors last year while LCHS graduated 2, which resulted in Loretto not wanting to play LCHS this year. 3. Yes, LCHS's student section is extremely wild, but that is the tradition of LCHS basketball. The students never touch the opposing players, they only shoot the ball when it comes right to them. Oh well. 4. Lawrence County doesn't want to play Summertown @ SHS because of the seating inside the gym. LCHS fans could jam the SHS gym alone, without the SHS fans. There's not enough room at SHS. 5. LCHS had to schedule Moore Co. and Wayne Co. because Coffee County moved out of district (2 games gone). Independence dropped them because new Coach (2 games gone). BGA dropped LCHS because of a new AD (one game gone). And then of course Loretto dropping LCHS (2 games gone). LCHS has had to schedule new opponents this year because of teams dropping them of geographic and management issues. Not just Moore Co. and Wayne Co. The players would love to play these games. It's too bad that it can't happen. Point # 5 is exactly the point. With LCHS difficulty in scheduling,It would seem like a with some good idea for SOMEONE (perhaps Dr. Heath) with some SENSE to "encourage" co-operation and sportsmanship. I'm done Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
  9. There's not a side to take.It sounds like they both need time-out.
  10. Why are all the elementary schools in Lawrence Co. able to play each other with no problems whatsoever yet the high schools can't ? If you want to say it's competition and blame the small schools,That's ok.Go ahead and enjoy playing on Monday nights and traveling to Moore Co.and filling out the rest of your schedule By all indications it's going to be quite sometime before these schools play again (if ever).I'm sure there are issues besides the ones raised here(there always are).
  11. It doesn't matter to me either way.I've heard all the reasons mentioned here plus that LCHS was seeking stronger competition. I can say this however;1) if I were Summertown,Under no circumstances would I play 2 games at L'burg 2) If I were Loretto'under no circumstances would I play someone whose students were allowed on the floor or who touched my players.3) as far as the behavior of the fans, the TSSAA handbook is crystal clear."Fan behavior is the responsibility of the Principals of the schools involved or his designee regardless of where the game is being played"
  12. "The best team did not win"? What game was you watching. I can't believe someone would even say anything like it. What exactly did the announcers say and what announcers said it. It wasn't the ones calling the game on 30. Your one man show is off base also. Someone has to catch , people have to block to be able to make the pass.......Its called team.....and the best team did win it. Can't believe you would try make the win look like Giles didn't have a thing to do with it. Two entered the night and only one can win.......same in all 5 other games played Friday and Saturday.. It was a great game between two teams that worked their tales off since the summer.....and Giles came out the winner. You show so little class with your comments. Giles is the 4A Champions.....PERIOD! Great season and great win for the entire community and fans. Don't let any comments like this carry any weight.......It is sour grapes , trying to take away what they accomplished by making it appear they didn't do anything to win. Congrads. To all involved in Giles county Football......great season...one that will be remembered for a very long time. Remember it as long as you can, it'll be awhile. #12 was the heart and soul of the program, the o-line not so much. If it weren't for Bo's pocket awareness and elusiveness he'd been hit a bunch. Face it if it was not for three big plays, GHS dominated the field in every aspect of the game. 1 turning point was the Greeneville QB acting like he'd never scored a td before. That unsportsmanlike penalty gave GCHS a short field and turned momentum to the Bobcats for good.
  13. If Giles is not so impressive what does that say for the Green apples?Maryville not so impressive either GoCats STATE CHAMPS!!!!
  14. Wayne Co. has nothing to be ashamed of. Union City is one of the most Physical football teams I've ever seen.I will give the Wildcats 1 small bit of advice. If you want to play in Cookeville in 2010 for a championship,You'd better find your way to the WEIGHT ROOM like Union City did !
  15. This was a hard-hitting game between 2 very proud programs defined by the Milan turnovers inside their own 10 and Alcoa taking advantage of them. What impressed me most about the game was the class of the PLAYERS from both teams. There were no cheap shots,no mouthing, and I lost count of how many times I saw players from both teams help each other up anf pat each other on the back-side after a play!VERY VERY CLASSY!Congratulations to players on both teams.
  16. Beech was VERY impressive last night.Columbia is a very good team. The story of the game was the Beech defense creating turnovers,&(I understand they did the same thing against Mitchell)Beech just made more plays and deserved to win.Congratulations to both teams.
  17. I still dont get how you all are so sure that your so much better than Greeneville. YOU NEVER SEEN GREENEVILLE PLAY AND YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT GREENEVILLE FOOTBALL IS! You have never seen Giles County play and you don't know what Giles County football is.
  18. Why doesn' Lawrence Co. play Summertown and Loretto? They are in the same county,it's a traditional rivalry, and they have owned both schools as far as winning goes.Loretto and summertown's 1A status isn't a factor,LCHS plays Moore Co. and Wayne Co.(both 1A)? What's the deal?a(sniff, sniff)That old superiorty complex? The LCHS boys are playing Summertown in the Richland Christmas classic.
  19. Congratulations Mr. Football ! A tremendous honor and deserving of even this Greene Devil's applause. I am looking forward to seeing you play. Can any comment on his college preferences? I know Giles County is awfully close to that Crimson Tide state line. His college preferences are Knoxville, Ole Miss, and LSU but he only has one offer from UT-Martin. Can't stand it can you!I'll wager that's 1 more offer than you got!
  20. It's an honor just to be nominated for the award.Congratulations Bo!
  21. Good Morning!I hope the Bobcats have a good practice today!
  22. Well sir, why don't you explain to me the reason that the stronger more athletic teams from Memphis usually lose in the state playoffs or to teams with lesser talent if it is not coaching ? Can we say Mitchell vs Knoxville Catholic last year 3A State Championship Game ? I am dying to read you response .. I'm sure there are "good" and "bad" Coaches in Memphis (just like everywhere else).I saw Mitchell play Lawrence Co. and they are one of the most well-coached teams I've seen. They have good talent,They are disciplined snd classy. It could be that Knoxville catholic had a great team!(undefeated) Mitchell may win the championship this year,They may not.Alot of times championships hinge on things over which a coach has no control,(weather,penalties,injuries,...etc.)I will definitley say Memphis coaches are as good as any one elses.GoVols!
  23. Why don't you go back and post on the band thread and no its not a sport. If you took time to watch the Giles vs Page JV game you already know the GC program is waaaaaaay ahead of Page. But I fully understand as to why your living for the future and putting our current success down....cuz your sittin at home early this playoff season ....AGAIN! (Please no disrespect to Page fans which throw us a bit of support, as many of us often have yours) Ah! that feels much better. Well first off I have very few ties to Page any longer for that matter I have few ties to Indy who I have supported for past several years. As far as coaches at Page I wouldn't have those answers for you. I am actively trying to keep ours at Indy from parents who believe their child is the next Brett Farve. Speaking of coaches I have heard rumors that O'Connor has been floating his name around at a few places. Looks like he is trying to get while the Gettin is good. Doesn't surprise me. Not for sure about JV or what you are talking about? For the record I am rooting for you all this week. And I also read the paper about Wallace and think it is a shame he is not getting more looks. I do predict that there will be a lot of schools looking to pat Giles back next year for the crimes of the past couple. You were on the Dr. Phil show! Weren't you ?
  24. First all of...you are a complete and udder idiot.....second of all....Union City doesnt pass.....oh yeah you better watch out for Wayne County's Defensive Tackle....he's Albert Haynesworth's little brother.... [/quote Yeah that's right! We don't pass at all. Put 9 even 10 men in the box and see what happens. You will be saying "OH CRAP!" This is from the original BigSwo. Dont forget we have A big fast fullback With two slots that once they break the line of scrimmage they can turn on the after bunners and you will have no one left to stop them. All our backs including the QB run hard and usually dont go down with one even 2 guys on them. But remember that WE DON'T PASS. Don't you know that sniffing glue causes brain damage?.......Oops ! I guess you were warned too late!
