  1. if he does indeed get a p4 QB offer, I wonder if he would be an early enrollee... Aren't most p4 QBs getting to school in January to start development and learning the playbook? He looks the part, I'll say that about him.
  2. we are talking 6+ years down the road at this point. People have been speculating on a new school for a while now but there are currently no plans drawn up (or more importantly, money available) . They still have to build out the 5-8 school at parkview next
  3. tssaa should be ashamed of the officiating product they put on display at the state tournament. Both Boys and Girls tournaments have been horribly officiated. Its shameful. I'm not blaming the individual referees at all. The process and decision makers are at fault. Bottom line is there are people out there that have no business being out there.
  4. Middle TN stand up. I believe we’ve caught up to Memphis a little based on recent results
  5. Well... turns out HF can't score against the 2-3 zone. 14 points in a half ... man thats tough. Playing out about how I thought other than that. HF is able to guard relatively well. Credit to cobb for getting his in that half. Rebounding battle is even but Bees are 7/8 at the line compared to 1/2 for HF.
  6. Is Hume missing players? or did they just not wake up? They looked really bad in that quarter
  7. IMO it will be whitehaven vs Hillsboro/Maryville Winner in the title game
  8. I don't know anything much about HumeFogg other than seeing them play last year at State and looking at scores. I think they will be able to guard fairly well if they play man. Upperman hasn't seen a bunch of teams with the athleticism/length combo of what i remember from HF from last year. South Gwinnett may be the best comparison and as UCsportsfan put it, maybe the bees didn't play their best game on the last day of a holiday tournament. The other obvious comparison would be Stewarts Creek and I understand Upperman wasn't full strength. With all due respect to Stone and Heritage, they aren't made up of the same kind of athletes. Other than that I don't see alot to really compare to on Upperman's schedule. Now... conversely, if Upperman comes out in that 2-3 zone can HF score agaisnt it? Do they have consistent outside shooting? I have no idea. I expect this to be competitive into the 4th quarter with both teams to have a chance. Upperman has to feel good having the best player on the floor. I think it comes down to who wins the rebound battle and who hits/gets free throws. Should be fun.
  9. smh. They'd be fools to let him go.
  10. What exactly is enough for you? With that roster?
  11. I can't disagree with this more. McDowell is a good coach. Took a team to the state semifinal just 3 years ago. Look no further than the job he did with this years team. He has them playing their best basketball at the end of the year and hosting a region game.
  12. I can't wait to see the comments that start after the transfer rule gets approved. You think people "recruit" now because they get a transfer that moves in... just wait
  13. Tough Look for UCSportsFan.... ouch. I don't think anyone is beating KWebb if they are healthy. I don't think anyone is beating Loretto if they are healthy.
  14. I disagree with your opinion on MVP being the BEST all around player. Most Valuable Player means most valuable doesn't it? I think you could make an argument that capps may be more valuable to his team than cobb. You may disagree with that, but it seems to me upperman has better pieces surrounding Cobb. Just a different way of looking at it. I agree Cobb is the better total player.
  15. Lol... everyone was saying Bartlett last year too... how'd that work out? A- Chat Prep, Pickett, or Eagleville AA-Loretto AAA - NS/SS - this is your best chance but I wouldn't count out upperman or hume AAAA-Bearden or Hillsboro Div2AA - KnoxWebb and it isn't close.
  16. This should be a fun game. Give me Cookeville 31-28
  17. "90% or whatever percentage" seems like most of it to me. Not to toot my own horn but I'm pretty good at math. Whats about to happen is people in baxter will complain enough that the school board gives them a bunch of (needed) upgrades while giving nothing to CHS or MHS. But I'd say those people won't get on here and complain about equity then. The thing we can all agree on is that football stadium wasn't done properly when the school was built.
  18. I felt like it was closer than the final score. It may be true that the bears were never truly threatened, but the Cavaliers outgained the bears according to our paper. If cookeville kicks the field goal instead of throwing a pick 6 on 4th and goal, it may have well been a game in doubt until the final whistle. Credit to Mt. Juliet, clearly the class of the region. But I am proud of the Cavs and I think they have improved from last year. Hopefully we can win out and try to get a home playoff game
  19. Agree completely... measuring stick game for this program. Its easy to see it has grown but we will get a chance to see how much tonight at Eddie Watson Stadium. I think we will be able to move the ball some, but will the defense be able to stop the bears?
  20. Yea i anticipate Mt Juliet trying to defend cookeville in their base defense. Cavs really need to be able to run the ball if the bears don't load the box. The interesting thing will be if Cookeville makes Mt Juliet commit to stopping the run, will the cavs be able to throw it to keep them honest.
  21. I would just like to caution you that grade school doesn't always translate 100% to high school. Obviously its a good sign but we all know that so much can happen over a few years. People can move, players have injuries or fall out of love with the game, other players at other schools catch up athletically, coaches retire, etc. And as another pointed out , districts, classifications, rules, etc can all change as well. I don't doubt what your eyes are telling you, but maybe pump the breaks a little.
  22. I think Mt Juliet is probably better... but I think Cookeville has a shot. They will need to win the turnover battle and tackle well (limit big plays) if they want a chance in the 4th quarter. Will be interesting to see if the bears sell out against the run and challenge the cavs to throw it. I know I would.
  23. Cookeville by 2 tuddys at home. I think both teams are better than they were last year but Cookeville has grown up in the trenches. As long as they can tackle trip (easier said than done) and not turn the ball over they should take this one.
