  1. I discovered this morning that Chester Co. will also be playing a game in Cookeville at the Mid South Classic. They join Westview & Gibson Co. I know of that will be heading that way. At least three West Tn. quality teams and I know the best from that area. When someone gets the full lineup please post. Thanks in advance and good luck to all in the Upper Cumberland, especially 7AA.
  2. Dresden 2 8 18 32 Lake Co. 3 11 18 25 Dresden-Kaci Bailey 11, Levister 7, Quinton 2, Hughes 5, Dubriel 1, Rook 3, Riggs 3. Lake Co.-Crawford 5, Geanes 2, Gray 4, Gross 5, Kinney 1, Boyd 1, Jordan 7. Let me put some numbers to the shooting descriptions. Actually Lake Co. didn't shoot the ball bad. Their % came down in the 4th quarter when they were jacking up 3's trying to catch up. Dresden shot 9% from the field the 1st half, 17% for the game. 1-12 from 3-pt range. At one point they were 7-14 at the FT line but closed with 10-11 to win it in 4th quarter. Dresden is better than they played tonight and Lake Co. will get better, especially after Christmas.
  3. Friday: 2:30 USJ-Millington 4:00 McNairy Co.-Oxford Ms. 5:30 Chester Co.-Gleason 7:00 Westview-Houston Saturday: Noon Millington-Chester Co. 1:30 Gleason-McNairy Co. 3:00 USJ-Houston 4:30 Westview-Oxford
  4. Lake Co. 15 44 63 71 Dresden 7 24 34 51 Lake Co.-Jamar Mays 17, Lashon Mays 13, Tony Tyler 13, Clark 5, J. Clay 5, Wallace 3, Warlick 3, Springer 5, Valentine 1, Geanes 7 Dresden-Roberson 5, Miller 5, Thomas 4, Odle 5, Williams 4, Smith 4, Levister 5, Hatchel 6, Hewitt 5, Wright 8. Lake County was very impressive, especially in the 1st half. "Whitby Ball" has found a new gear! Relentless pressure, transition offense, and lots of 3's. Dresden looked tired after so many recent games and traveling. Liked what I saw of Tyson Wright, a 6-4 freshman. A post presence will help Dresden's guard orientation.
  5. There should be no shortage of 3's attempted. In last night's 71-51 win over Dresden, Lake Co. put up 20 in the first half. Six different Falcons scored from beyond the arc. Three players in double digits. Jamar Mays 17 and Tony Tyler & Lashon Mays with 13 apiece. Gibson Co.-Lake Co. 5:00 tipoff on Friday at the Roundhouse in Dresden.
  6. The schedule on TSSAA Website has them playing in the Mid-South Classic in Cookeville on 12/18 against Clarkrange. I think Westview is supposed to be there as well.
  7. Ah, showing your UC education & ignorance of sports all at once!!!! Come, come. I guess your BrockRocks rating has dropped to a C!
  8. Competitiveness is not taken into consideration when districts are aligned. That can change from year to year. However geography does not change. Camden would be better served going east with Waverly & others in basketball as they are going to do in football. They would have less travel overall. Still some long trips but some would be shorter than their shortest one in the west and they could build consistent rivalries.
  9. Yes, I think that's quite possible as well.
  10. Didn't forget my friend, just didn't see them. I guess they would be #7 by default.
  11. Jackson Co. held up well against the Westview pressure and stayed with them as Westview dictated tempo most of the time. Westview's depth showed up in the 4th quarter, something I think will be evident in many games. When you play that many girls at that tempo you're going to wear some folks down and pull away from close games at the end. The Lady Blue Devils will make noise again in 7AA. It's not easy to rate based on one game & some of the matchups but my preseason 7AA rankings would be 1. Smith Co. 2. Livingston Acad. 3. Jackson Co. 4. Upperman (3 & 4 real close) 5. York 6. Cannon Co.
  12. As the season gets underway, I look at schedules that have been entered and I can't believe how many mistakes there are. I haven't hardly found a team in West Tennessee that doesn't have duplicate games on same day, mistakes in location, etc. Members, please pay attention if you enter a game to the schedule. Right now it looks bad in some cases.
  13. The gold ball may very well be won by Walker Valley or who knows but the thread is about toughest district, top-to-bottom. That is why we think so much of 13AA. With the improvement in Union City, you can't have an off night in a district game or you may get beat. There are districts with some great teams but most all have a team or two that you can count on a W no matter how you play. That's why the 7AA/13AA Challenge idea was so neat. These two districts have great programs plus good programs, no cupcakes on the menu!
  14. Ah, my fine friend. You were typing as I was!
  15. Just so we have the scores all in one place: Cannon Co. 42 Union City 30 Smith Co. 59 Crockett Co. 51 Dyer Co. 54 York Inst. 47 Obion Co. 61 Upperman 53 Westview 66 Jackson Co. 52 Gibson Co. 75 Livingston Acad. 65 Congtratultions to all the winners & best of luck in the season. Here's hoping the Final 4 in the boro is 13AA Vs. 7AA Good to meet you 7AA Watcher. Hate many of you missed the games. You have some excellent programs in 7AA
  16. Tipoff is 6:00. Not sure if Dyersburg fm is carrying or not.
  17. It was on March 20th that I started a thread about the possibility of this happening. I am pleased that some people took the ball and ran the fast break to make it happen. Thanks to all who played a part in this, especially my man HeavyD(does the D stand for Duke?). Those who attend the games at Westview tomorrow will be treated to some great girls basketball, even though it's the beginning of the season. 7AA folks have a safe trip to the Northwest. I'd love to meet you. I'll be around the press box most of the day. Good luck to all teams.
  18. Tonights Lake Co. game is with Brighton. The Elliston game for Friday has been cancelled because a contract was not returned by Elliston. Guess Vince was too busy on the recruiting trail
  19. And isn't going to happen probably. I'm still in an evaluation period of the redistricting, sort of a cooling off period to give it a fair look, but for the folks who are familiar with how politicians have drawn up congressional districts in history, can you say "gerrymandering"!
  20. Thanks for what you did behind the scenes to make the idea a reality. Say hello to Coach K.
  21. Don't start praising him too quick, his head won't fit in the hospitality room Saturday. With no broadcasts I'll be free to eat all day!!!!!!
  22. Whoa!!!!!!! Who said GC was going to be down this year? That's a "not so fast my friend"! SpRadio, give us a quick overview.

    Injuries?

Bump. Hope this means there aren't any. Just trying to put together my show for tomorrow night. Thanks.
  24. They are all remaining in class A. We'll find out next week how the districts align.
