  1. Lexington and Chester County are really good jobs
  2. I guess @coachzero is gonna have to explain why his "can't nobody beat Manassas team" couldn't execute any half-court stuff against CA???? Or why his overhyped team got outplayed by a better coached team. Waiting on his reply LOL
  3. Run and gun rarely works at state, against a disciplined team at that. Then shooting 4-19 from FT line and getting killed on the glass doesn't help matters
  4. I'll do the West top 5: 1. Westview 2. Covington 3. Lexington 4. Chester County 5. Dyersburg
  5. Liberty in West TN used to be a great job. With the championships and the great players that came through, it was a place you could win. Now, looking for another coach, in AAA with little to no support from administration.
  6. I don't think Crockett scores over 32 against Mitchell. Crockett's only hope is to try to get out in transition with Hannah and try to put pressure on Mitchell's bigs. Otherwise Mitchell is gonna clamp down on Shelton and make it very difficult for them to run any offense. South Gibson has a shot, a very small one. Try to sit in a zone and force Wooddale to slow the game down.
  7. Great game for South Side. And hats off to Covington for advancing to state. I think the Lady Hawks have a VERY bright future. Yes, losing Miller and Transou will hurt, BUT you have 2 outstanding posts to build around.
  8. Hey @Salami what does Covington like to do??? I know #3 Howard is solid, and #12 Taylor is too. And the posts aren't bad. I assume from past Covington teams, they are gonna try to play inside-outside. And with zone and press. Or am I wrong???
  9. Completely ashamed of some of Greenfield's fans to heckle and boo Macey Lee. She's a great player and that was completely out of line. I hope the admistration takes care of that.
  10. Chloe just makes plays when they need them. She's a big-time player, and never gets rattled. Not a stretch to say she's probably gonna end up as the greatest player in Greenfield's history.
  11. Very good game. Greenfield came out firing up 16-3. After Gibson County settled in, it got very interesting. I think down the stretch it came down to a few second chance opportunities and GC allowing Greenfield to pretty much win the game from the line. I'm still pro-shot clock. But teams need to adjust to the stall tactic.
  12. I think Mitchell kills FW on the glass, I think FW has over 20 turnovers. And I think Mitchell keeps it in the 50's.......
  13. Keys to the game: South Side HAS to make the game a track meet, Westview doesn't want to run at all. Make them have to call for subs. Westview HAS to keep South Side out of the paint. Westview needs Gadlen OR Yancey to have a big game South Side HAS to defend Callins well (Lexington did a good job at this) and rebound the basketball And for both teams: LAYUPS, LAYUPS, and LAYUPS lol the game may come down to this. I think in the end: whoever sets THEIR pace controls this game. Gonna be fun to watch.
  14. I think Wilkins has done a great job at South Gibson.........from where they started to now winning 20 games and going deep into region. I think SG fans should be excited for the next few years. Now with that said: Keys to the game: South Gibson CAN'T have more than 15 turnovers, South Side will get points off those. South Side HAS to know where Hicks is (#5) the best shooter in our region. And faceguarding wouldn't actually be a bad idea. South Gibson CAN'T get rattled when South Side goes on runs. Stay composed, and continue to do what got you to this point. South Side HAS to feed the post players. I don't think you wanna make this a jump shooting game. Force the Hornets to have to defend in the half-court.
  15. It's a huge game because the loser is most likely going to Manassas. With that said, I'll take Humboldt IF Jones stays on the floor. If not, Peabody takes it.
  16. I think Mitchell beats Fayette-Ware.......no team should have to turn right around and play 2 games in 24 hours. Mitchell is fresh while FW may have dead legs
  17. Picks: Wooddale over Covington by 16 Mitchell over FW by 6 OR Raleigh-Egypt over Mitchell by 6
  18. TN Pride West (out of Jackson) https://m.facebook.com/tnpridewest/ Lady Silver Foxes (out of Greenfield) https://m.facebook.com/ladysilverfoxes/ Also @GCPioneer can give you more information, if need be. Also Lady Riptide (out of McKenzie) https://m.facebook.com/riptidebasketball731/
  19. Lexington's offense revolves around Kyla Taylor. Leading scorer and rebounder. Also a primary ball handler. They will look to her early and often for points. Also, Trinity Beard will probably start on Alexis Callins. Second leading scorer and best defender. Haley Scott is the shooter. Also a very good ball handler as well. Eve Griffin and Anya Taylor round out the starting 5. Those two don't look to score much, but do all of the little things that don't show up in the stat book. The keys for the Lady Tigers are: What to take away: Westview is great scoring around the rim with Johnson, or shooting the 3 with Callins, Gadlen, and Yancey. That will be something to watch. KNOW where Callins is at all times. I know they won't faceguard her, but she's gotta be a focus defensively, they have to be ready to fight through lots of screens. Rebounding. Westview is the bigger team, but Lexington can't afford to give the Lady Chargers second shots. Those could be momemtum plays. Turnovers: Lexington has to force turnovers, whether that's playing zone, man, or trapping in the half court. Those will be key for the Lady Tigers as they look to generate some easy points off turnovers. It's gonna come down to Lexington hitting shots, staying close on the boards, and not turning it over. If they do those three things, it will be a ball game.
  20. Keys to the game: Crockett County has to get scoring from Pankey, she has to attack on defensive breakdowns. South Side HAS to hit some threes. I assume they are gonna see a heavy amount of zone. Gotta look to the gaps as well for easy finishes around the rim. Crockett has to stay out of foul trouble: if Patterson OR Pankey get 2 early, they don't have another ball handler capable of breaking the press. South Side HAS to look to the post players early and often (Crockett is VERY small) if they get a few baskets early, it's gonna open up the game for the perimeter players.
  21. Honestly it doesn't matter who gets the road game in substate.......I have GC and Greenfield both winning with running clocks against whoever comes from Memphis (most likely BTW or MAHS/Hillcrest)
  22. South Gibson is trending backwards after that hot start. I think it's gonna be a really good game but I have South Side by 5. I think their quickness and rebounding will be too much for the Hornets. I see Crockett beating Chester by at least 15. The Eagles don't play much defense at all, and the Cavaliers should be able to get layups all game long.
  23. Played zone pretty much the entire way. Pressed when they got down (wish they would have used it more, because it was effective) and that's Peabody's other weakness besides shooting/no depth. They struggle against pressure and GC is gonna bring it.
  24. They can defend with the best of them. Offensively, if they had 1 shooter who could knock down a few they would be scary good.
  25. I went to Gleason-Peabody. Pretty much the story was Peabody's pressure was too much for Gleason. And aside from Anderson and Atkins (who is gonna be REALLY good as a senior) they didn't get much from the other 3 starters, also they had way too many turnovers. Peabody scored enough points (off those Gleason turnovers and a monster game from Kiera Hill, who is getting NO looks from the local colleges) to pull it out, despite almost blowing the game, missing free throws down the stretch. Peabody is gonna have to play much better offensively to have any shot of beating GC.
