  1. When the TSSAA reclassed for 2017-2020, Gallatin was put in Region 6 5A with Beech, Glencliff, Hillsboro, Hillwood and Hunters Lane, it's as simple as that. We've never scheduled Hillwood outside of it being a region game. Those 5 games we have to play, then for the 5 non-region all are one class up in 6A, 2 in county and the other 3 one county over. We scheduled those because typically they field very competitive teams year in and year out, plus they bring great crowds, which helps offset some of the region schools that don't.
  2. The trending theme from most outside of Gallatin seems to be that the Wave can't be very good, therefore anybody they beat can't be very good.
  3. Gallatin at Columbia May 3 Gallatin at Blackman May 10
  4. Gallatin starts April 25, scrimmages at Columbia May 3, at Blackman May 10.
  5. Hendersonville is actually the 18th, and the off week is the 11th. Fall break is Oct 7-11, so they bumped Hendersonville a week later, I just verified that with our AD.
  6. Head coach and both coordinators are in place, all great hires. The excitement builds!
  7. I cannot and will not divulge any names, but I will without hesitation say Gallatin will have a strong head coach in place very soon.
  8. I'm very confident there is at least one, and maybe more, surprise candidates that most have not thought of, we'll see. There has been no offer made, but that could happen by the end of the week, just sit tight.
  9. Interviews are scheduled to be complete by Tuesday, so an announcement could come next week, but Christmas break starts Thursday afternoon, so it would be most likely to happen the first of the year.
  10. Very true, I've had numerous conversations with them and no names have been mentioned, only descriptions of the final group as a whole, and all of them have had very successful head coaching careers. Gallatin will have a very good head coach in place soon, that's for certain.
  11. I'm 99.9% sure there were no QB Club members involved 7 years ago, and I'm even more confident there are none this go around. Just sit tight, relax, let them do this, and see what home run lands there.
  12. I can for certain tell you there were 85 to 90 applicants, and that number has been narrowed to 8 very solid guys. Interviews will start very soon, there is a committee of maybe 4 or 5 that will do those. For sure Gallatin will have a strong coach in place, most likely by the first of the year, don't be surprised at who just might land there.
  13. There are a few elite coaches out there that Gallatin would probably reach out to, to check interest, not sure he would ever be one of them. They have plenty of apps from interested coaches, trust me.
  14. Just to end all discussion of any issues with the coaches having facial hair, Coach Nathan Wilson is currently on the staff and has been named interim head coach. I have met him, been around him several times, and I can assure you he has a full mustache and beard, and has had both ever since he was hired. There is no issue, nor has there ever been issues with coaches having facial hair at GHS period.
  15. And with the Robertson County drop will come an immediate revenue increase in Wilson County, and Bellacino's!
  16. Looks like that's where we're headed unless there's a good size drop in enrollment. Half our schedule the next two years will be Region 4-6A anyway.
  17. Yeah me too, I hate to see it go. My understanding of the plan is to open at home against Lebanon, and keep the rest of the schedule the same, other than flipping home and away.
  18. Lebanon is replacing Springfield, at least that's the last plan I heard. The main reason is Lebanon will give us all 3 games, varsity, freshman and jv, Springfield won't.
  19. Lincoln County and Summit play this week, winner gets 3rd and Beech will host that team. That's assuming all 3 Region 5 games turn out as they should, and they will. I like your chances against whoever wins.
  20. If Glencliff is as bad as they have been the last couple of years you can move the 14 points you gave them in your prediction over to the MJ side and be closer to what the final score should be.
  21. Gallatin's 2017 schedule: 1 Springfield 2 Station Camp 3 at Hillsboro 4 at Mt Juliet 5 Hillwood 6 at Wilson Central 7 at Hunters Lane 8 Hendersonville 9 Open 10 at Beech 11 Glencliff
  22. Wish I could be there tonight but I have to be elsewhere, send me updates please. I'll see you tomorrow night before the game, between 6 and 6:30, and after the game as well. We have had lots of issues playing in the wet, and it does look like it will be that again tomorrow night. I hope we can keep it close.
  23. Wow pretty much sums it up. I am at a loss as to what has happened to this team that I thought had so much potential, especially after the first two games, it's really shocking.
  24. Most that I have talked to expect a tight, close game but, interestingly none of the games in this short series have been really close. These two have played six times, with Gallatin holding a 4-2 edge, and the closest game was a 21-6 Wave win in 2010. The other five games were decided by 23 or more points. Could this be the first year of a one-score final? One more note: we all remember the frightful weather and the long delay in last year's game. All weather outlooks I had seen looked good for Friday, but now rain has crept into the forecast starting Friday afternoon into Saturday. Let's hope we don't have a repeat of last year's weather, but a repeat of last year's winner!
  25. Gallatin and Mt Juliet have experienced some great games over the years, with some crazy plays and wild finishes. It being the opening game this year makes it impossible to predict. I have seen all three scrimmages and several practices, and I think this Wave team has a bunch of potential. How that plays out on the field with a very tough schedule we will see. I do see an injury free Mason having a big year running the ball, he is a talent ladled kid that right now is flying under the radar. As the season moves along, more and more will know who he is. The defense must improve from what I've seen thus far, it has given up too many big plays in these scrimmages. I'm just excited this is finally the first Game Week of '15, it looks to be a fun year!
