2022: 4-7 2021: 4-7 2020: 5-6 10-1 in 2023 is going to be considered a success for the seniors who had won a combined 13 games the previous 3 seasons.

In the heat of the moment of course they would say that. Any true competitor who takes losing personally would say that. When they look back on it at the end of the year though they are going to realize that they had a successful season and built a lifetime worth of great memories through their successes on Friday nights. They are not going to look back on it and say "well we won but it's only because we played in a bad region and beat a bunch of terrible football teams". If that were the case then they were doomed from the beginning of fall camp this past summer if they came up short of anything but winning a state championship.

The 2nd Round of the Playoffs pits these two rivals against one another once again. East Nashville cruised to a 1st Round win over Cheatham County. Stratford won a 1st Round shootout at White House-Heritage.

I knew this would be a close game. Congrats to Hardin County on surviving and advancing.

Just because Loretto (10-1) and Clarksville (10-1) lost last night doesn't change the fact that they had successful seasons and were good football teams.

Congrats to all of the Region 6 teams on advancing in the playoffs tonight. Region 5 is still a good region it's just tough that they were paired with such a strong region.

IMO, Pearl-Cohn's biggest challenges will be Station Camp in the 2nd Round and Marshall County in the 3rd Round. I say that because both teams have already seen PC this season and sometimes it's a huge mental advantage when you've seen someone previously and aren't just in awe of them the second time around. Coach Tony Brunetti's (165-64 Overall Record As Head Coach) team has a great opportunity to become the first team in school history to go 15-0. The 2019 team went 14-1 before falling to Alcoa in the championship game. The 1997 team also went 14-1 with the lone blemish on their mark being a season opening one point defeat against MBA.

Hickman County has a chance to be pretty special under Coach Dawson this year.

You're absolutely right. All it does in the end is cost the TSSAA money which is usually a driving force behind decisions for those guys.

Mt. Pleasant is a great team this year and was 0:29 away from winning a region championship last night. They are a mystery this week. They could either use that heartbreaking loss as motivation to make a run in the playoffs. They could also allow that dejection from last night's loss to haunt them and come out flat against a very good Riverside team.

I said last week that Oakland was playing a dangerous game after the Ravenwood game. They had to withstand an early storm and rally from a hole to come back and win that game. Last night was the same thing just the opposite way around. They were up 17-0 and after a strong first half they weren't the same football team in the second half. Give Riverdale's coaches and players 100% credit for rallying the troops and being the better team when it mattered most. Oakland just lost the region championship as a result of that last night. I would say that their coaches will remind the team and develop a renewed attitude in practice. I would not want to be the team that plays Oakland next Friday in the opening round.

#9 Stanfield their RB is the real deal.

White House does A LOT of things that are very much unconventional and Hardin County probably hasn't seen anything like it all year to date. I think they go west and come back home with a win.

Region 5 has a great opportunity for a potential sweep. Pearl-Cohn may be the best team in the entire state this year regardless of class. Marshall County is a strong #2 and will be in an angry mood after last night. Station Camp was without their QB for a portion of the year and their record is misleading. White House is a good #4 seed who played Upperman and Pearl-Cohn in recent weeks and will not be intimidated by Hardin County being a #1 seed.

Milan (at Lewis County) 4.) Peabody (at Loretto) I know it would be difficult to schedule but I'd even love to see an Adamsville (6-4) vs East Hickman (5-5) "Bowl Game" get scheduled on Thursday night next week as a bit of an appetizer for next Friday's games. Both of those teams are very solid #5 finishers who will be tough luck teams that just missed the playoffs this season. They would both be playoff qualifiers in any other 2A region in the state.

I met bolddust at the game a few minutes ago. He's a pretty interesting guy.

I plant my turnips elsewhere now as you know but looking at it from a distance I think the game that made it all come together for Fairview was actually the loss at Independence. It was a close game for almost 3 quarters and Fairview’s kids believed that they belonged on the field with a much larger/more talented opponent. It definitely wasn’t the same team that got ran past in the scrimmage with Marshall, ran over in the jamboree against Harpeth, beaten up in the season opener at East Hickman, and curb stomped in the game at Waverly.

Congrats to both teams on reaching the state playoffs. Congrats to East on winning the region championship. I believe that both of these teams will be favored in their opening round playoff matchups and if both do happen to advance then they'll meet again in the second round of the playoffs on 11/10.

Congratulations to Fairview on winning the region championship. It sounds like their defense played a great game.

I’m moving on. Good luck to the R5 and R6 teams in the playoffs. In all seriousness I think the 2A champ comes out of that quad.

We were lucky. We were run ruled by Jesse and those guys twice that year in the regular season. Their offense went dry at a bad time. Very similar to the Braves this year.
