  1. USJ has forced 36 turnovers so far this season. NC gets penalized a lot. Those trends must continue for the Bruins to keep marching East as NC has the edge on offense. These last 4 teams could play a dozen times with different results. Rain doesn't matter friday if you have Mo.
  2. Roster has been dwindling over last several weeks. Coach Chatman is a Tomcat and will have them ready to go with a full roster very soon.
  3. The Haywood - South Gibson spots would be flopped if it weren't for the 2 point conversion to win the game. Credit to Markeston Douglas for catching not only the 1st down crucial play and also the 2 point conversion. 6'5" receivers are fun to have and a credit for playing multi sports. Basketball coaches may hate it at times but kids need to play mutliple sports in high schools and coaches should never stand in the way of that for selfish reasons.
  4. yep a fumble on the 2 yard line and the pic thrown just before half while driving were killers. The positives you hope for are for lessons learned. Hope that is the case as well.
  5. FA offense more potent than USJ but USJ defense is better than FA. if you look at last weeks scores and turnover situation then NC is going to have to score a lot of points to keep this one close. FA has 3 different players with more than 300 yards rushing. Spreading the wealth is a necessity in this newly formed league for scouting purposes.
  6. 14 is the starters number. I think you meant 14 not 15. He was not banged up so that decision was a puzzling head scratcher Yes if they win out at 1 and 2 they can have a rematch but a lot of football games left to play.
  7. The Qb appears to roll out and pass better than stay in pocket and 17 had good plays on film. That combo appears to be their best option as NC was getting constant pressure on the passer. USJ is good at creating pressure and not so good with broken plays. If CA is to stay close, a lot of things have to go their way because the USJ players will not quit because of early adversity.
  8. thats a huge turnaround for the Bucs. great job
  9. well the pre game comments were right about some things and wrong about others. The kickers were very impressive! Maybe the best 2 kickers playing in the same game all season. The davis kid is certainly fast but cannot carry a team. If you run a a wildcat style offense in these lower Tennessee divisions you are not going to build a program. No spreading of the wealth means lowers numbers for kids with multiple sports options. hard for the old fellers to swallow but a reality in the 2000's. TCA had a nice 2 year run in 13-14 becausee of spreading the ball around but after that, one trick ponys dont build a program. They kill it. Butler is a great coach but a program falls into despair unless built from top to bottom with great development. Also spot on about nervous turnovers for sure. good prediction there. wrong about standing room only though. USJ stands and sidelines and grassy areas were packed, but TCA stands were about half empty. Both teams were resilient but better program and team came out with the W despite 6 turnovers and costly penalties. May be a record of some sort.
  10. none other than the thorn in your side, USJ.
  11. Your thoughts? Could DA or FC play within 14 points of CPA if they met in this years championship. Could CPA or BGA play within 14 points of Brentwood Academy in this years championship.
  12. One positive to having these 8-9 team regions is that it gives you plenty of football games that the coaches/athletic directors don't have to go hunt down. It is very difficult to find competitive games if you are a private school under 280 high school students. And if you think your old public school foes from the old days will want to schedule you again, you're dead wrong. You can find 2 or 3 games each cycle, but it would be a miracle to find 5. The state governing body is run by public school personnel. They are going to serve you the same food, you just gotta eat in a different room. Welcome to the kiddie table.
  13. having seen both teams, I give the nod to CPA and do believe they will end the Lausanne win streak.
  14. USJ has been playing the 3rd QB since the 4th quarter of the SG game. they lost 1 and 2 Qb's early in the season. We have all watched a lot of football and its very rare to lose 2 qb's in early part of the season. Hard to overcome but that's not the biggest USJ issue. They also played some good 4A teams early and were hesitant to play a lot of kids and it has hurt them. They are capable of really good football but do not rotate players in to keep them fresh because subs that are capable were not brought up to speed. The Region losses have come from explosive quarters by other teams. Hoping to get some breaks at CPA.
  15. Lausanne was not beatable last season. They are beatable this season---they are not as disciplined on the O line and a tight zebra crew can hold this group in check . I will see CPA play friday and give my thoughts on that matchup later once I see that squad play. I have no idea how ECS lost to SG this year as SG is not very good so maybe that was their one bad game.
  16. Football starts too early and should not begin until last weekend of August. There are too many playoff games. too many divisions. too much manipulation by larger private schools. too much co-opin' and too much open zone mess. Here's a suggestion: Privates have 2 classes- Class AA has all schools that are not co-ed, all schools that currently charge more than $18,000 tuition per year, and all schools with more than 400 high school enrollment. (side note-if you cannot win with one of these 3 resources at your disposal then a new division should not be created for you to get a chance to win) Class A- all other private schools. Publics have 4 classes-Class AAAA- all schools that use open zone enrollment and play kids that do not live in their zone & all schools over 1500 enrollment. Class AAA-any public school in Shelby County, Knox County, Davidson County or Hamilton County and any public school that co-ops with another school, Class AA-any rural school not in one of those counties with enrollment between 800 and 1500, Class A- any rural school not in those counties with enrollment below 800 that does not co-op, borrow home schoolers, or use open zone enrollment. . Since we started later there is only 4 weeks of playoffs. (yes basketball can start a week later) Only Region winners and runner ups make the playoffs and each division gets a state champion. One week after the state championships there is a Super State champion crowned by having public AAAA play private AA. If you do not make the playoffs you are to encouraged to go play a bowl game and help revive the bowl game structure of days of old. (raise money for charity and community pride) This eliminates 86% percent of all the biases that have been claimed on this website and in counter drug stores in the past 19 years.
  17. I knew Dyersburg was on a roll so had to look up some stats. Averaging 45 points a game and only giving up 14 ppg is very impressive. Could make a great run this year if stay disciplined.
  18. I don't know how middle school got brought into it but TCA did cancel the USJ middle school football game this season, not once but twice, so it looks like they won't play this year. As for tonight's game, oskie and Mo will decide the final score.
  19. If haywood can play assignment football on D and not get sloppy, but stay focused, this one could get out of hand early in 2nd quarter. Just too many weapons on offense so you know they are gonna score so you have to match them on the scoreboard. The radio spoke highly of a Springfield playmaker last night so they do have some scoring capability.
  20. agree with the 2 earlier posts. USJ-Lausanne game was a lot closer than final score reflects. USJ gained over 320 yards and had 18 first downs. But they made colossal errors inside the 10 twice, missed defensive assignments on 3rd and long plays and had some wacky penalties called which made the game appear lopsided. You cannot afford errors against Lausanne because of the big play potential and expect to win. Looking at the brackets the final 4 in this division will most likely be ND, CPA , Lausanne and the BGA/USJ winner. Stranger things have happened though but these are top 4/5 that have a legit shot at winning it all.
  21. from what i have heard, Baylor has some injured players back. If the game had been played earlier it would have been ugly. Now they have a chance in a low scoring affair. Turnovers key for Baylor to win because it will be very difficult for them to score more than 21 in this game.
  22. unless there are a lot of turnovers, the score of this game will not be close.
  23. 2 great teams with great individual players. They will have scouted each others strengths very well. I think the difference in the game will be a big pass play that is set up early in the game. I do not mean a trick play but it will be deceptive and there will be a wide open receiver because both defenses will be playing the run. It will be the deciding touchdown. Whoever runs "that play" will win the game.
