Don’t know much about Hixson but I do know that they have a stud at RB. Not the biggest of athletes but if he gets a crease or on the edge better hope he pulls a hammy cause he has a chance to take it the distance. Got decent size and probably the best overall Hixson team since 2015 or so.

Gonna take a big physical disciplined team to have a chance to beat Tyner. Their Defense is as good as you will see in 4A and Down, outside of Alcoa. This game will be over by halftime.
-
There does appear to be talk of Alcoa moving up. Whether it pans out or not 3A looks to be loaded overall.

Sequatchie 35 Whitwell 21. If Sequatchie’s Oline ever decides they want to take the game over Sequatchie could win by 30.

Sequatchie County vs Giles on Thursday
Headhunter42 replied to CatDaddy1's topic in Class 3A & Class 4A
Did Giles have some kids transfer out in addition to the seniors that graduated off last years team cause this years team that I’ve seen on film is certainly no where near the caliber as a whole as last years team. I assumed y’all had some kids transfer out of the program was curious if that’s the case. -
If you guys can run QB Power Read you got a chance, Marion hasn’t figured out how to stop that yet. Lbs get lost in the shuffle.
-
I can see Whitwell putting up 40+ this week. New OC there is trying to make a name for him self and got some talented young kids to help him get it done. 42 - 14

Marion County Warriors @ Tyner Rams
Headhunter42 replied to TheAnomaly's topic in Class 1A & Class 2A
It’s early but I think Marion is in for another shootout this week. It appears they can score but defense must improve in a hurry to have a chance against a well coached Tyner Team. Tyners defense will be much better than Sequatchie’s was this year under their new DC. Tyner has a seasoned guy on Defense and with better athletes to work with. Marion will be lucky to score near the 28 point range and I just don’t see them holding Tyner under that. -
A lot riding on this game to be so early in the year. Going into the year this was the game for second place in the region behind Giles, which I’m sure everyone agrees is the head of the class until some beats them.

I'm not sure where your getting your information but the school board, more specifically the School Board Director is who brought both Ross and McCurry in the mix to start with. The Principal and Athletic Director didn't want to fool with either one of them because of the obvious reasons mentions previously. They had a couple of in house guys that the administration wanted to go with and that got shot down by the Director. I don't know the Director nor anyone else on the school board but they have completely taken this hire out of the hands of the Principal/Athletic Director and continue to drag their feet which as we all know have put this program several weeks behind everyone else. I like everyone else also believe it will be either McCurry or Ross because those are the two guys the Director wants. No one else wants those fellows. Which makes no sense to me why the Director is so amendment about getting his guy in there when hes retiring in a couple months anyway, whats he care who gets the job?? So when people wander why some of these small towns do crazy things its because you have one person pulling the strings on every move and now your gonna force your school administration to work with a guy that they never wanted in the first place but rather is being forced on them. Small town politics at its best.

Prayers for you and your family sir.

Let me state the obvious. Of Course it is never cool for anyone to bash a kid or families and the moderators shouldn't allow it on here either. Shame on anyone who would do that. It would only take one father who loves their children to find out who some of these folks truly are behind these screen names and see them out and deal with it. There not gonna say I know you were just kidding before they handle business. To you, you were just playing around but to them there not gonna take it that way. Don't play with folks kids.
-
Well for one if it is Wes and I have no idea nor do I care, they have been that way for years, ignore them. People are like that to get a rise our of someone and obviously its working. The reason, I mentioned anything at all is if you want to get back at Wes or who ever it is then keep it about who your dealing with. You brought another fellows personal business and spewing in all out on a public forum. Not cool. If me and you have issues then lets keep it between us!
-
I realize that your trying to be funny, but this is taking things a little to far. Its sports forum, lets keep it about sports and leave peoples personal lives out of it. We are all accountable in Gods eyes for any wrong doings that we ALL have in our lives at some point. This is the wrong place and time for all that. Keep it classy guys.

South Pittsburg Pirates’ Coaching Search

So I'm clear, who is indicating that some South Pitts kids may be transferring to the "Purple" team?? Maybe I am reading it wrong but that's what I take as being implied here?? -

Sounds like who ever posted Coach Wagg's messages is a mole, and has unfortunately attempted to get the ones riding the fence as to who would be the best fit for the job to move their votes to the other candidate. This is starting to look like a bad rerun of our last high jacked election. Politics can be an evil thing boys, just remember your playing with a lot of folks livelihoods and kids futures. Good always wins in the end! We all know that right? -
I have never cared for the Power I personally but Dalton sure made it look good a couple years ago with that kid that's at Georgia Tech that started as a freshman. And if yall can get the off tackle power going I could see with yalls backs speed could be a good base play for ya.
-
So your saying they are going to be in some form of Power I, Wing I, basically an I Formations coming downhill(Dive, Power, Toss, Counter) type stuff. Cant see the benefit of running east and west with kids the sizes you mentioned but if they still have that fast kid that sometimes played QB/RB then I could see them running some midline/Veer type stuff. Be interesting to see how it shakes out, I thought they did a decent job of getting outside last year, looks like they going to pound a little more inside this year.
-
I can see why you would want to change Defenses if you have more depth at the line and having to replace 3 linebackers, so by going to an even front you basically now only have to replace 2 of the 3 so that makes sense, but you still have to have 5 offensive linemen regardless, so what type scheme are they thinking they are better suited for on offense?
-
I do not know the fellow and since no one has mentioned where or if he has been coaching since his time at Grundy the first time, I would assume he has not been coaching. Maybe someone more familiar with the family could confirm.
-
Interviews starting this week, but its believed to be smoke and mirrors as it appears they have settled in on the hometown boy who coached there in years past who led them to a couple 6 win seasons but you can confirm looking at previous years records.
-
Sir, you seem to be one of the few realist of the bunch. Really appreciate your take on this and similar issues. At the end of the day right is right and wrong is wrong. I guess in some eye its only wrong if you get caught. But boy when that day comes like many have said no one wins. Honestly, I have never cared for South Pitt but I have respected the brand and winning tradition that they consistently bring to table. They found a winning formula that worked for them(legal or not) kids want to be part of a winner. My heart goes out to the young man in question and truly hope that the powers to be can figure out a way to get an appeal through successful to salvage this kids senior year.

Sir, you probably don't know me but I might know you. So lets keep it classy and keep the name calling out of it if you don't mind. I'm just on here having fun like everyone else. No since in getting your blood pressure up, sometimes that's not good for old fellers health. But I will give you credit on your history, South Pitt has been the rare, extremely rare job that folks have walked away with good teams on the horizon. I just don't think with what recently has transpired with the negative publicity that your coaches retiring didn't have something to do with all this. Maybe Im wrong, want be the first time. -

Anybody else starting to get the feeling that this thing is alot deeper and wider than has been exposed so far? Lets think about it......In reality "The Captain" takes an oath to be the last one off the ship if its sinking, I mean its your ship right? Think on that for a minute.... So when "The Captain" jumps ship during troubled times prior to everyone else getting off there is a hefty penalty to be paid. Boys good head coaches don't walk away from programs such as this because their tired, tired of what? Winning District Titles, making deep playoff runs, winning Silver and Gold Balls. Really come on folks. Maybe you get out when you know the cupboard is bare, so you parlay your name, resume, winning brand into a new start somewhere else, but we all know the Pirates are loaded with returning talent and probably a chance at another title run. I don't know a coach alive that walks away from that situation. NOPE, NOPE, NOPE! So whats the lesson here, maybe the Captain jumped ship as part of an agreement (sacrificial lamb) with the powers to be to try and save face for a lesser punishment on the program as a whole, save his good name and scoot on down the road in a year or two after the buzz has settled and land a pretty good job, say in Georgia at somewhere like a Ridgeland who if they have another down year will certainly be looking for someone to revive the program. Maybe nothing else will come about this paying rent for the less fortunate or maybe some folks will end up needing Attorneys to save their good names. Remains to be seen how involved it gets. At the end of the day kids are involved, so hopefully it all works out in the end in the kids favor.
