  1. I believe the first round is played at the higher seeds on Saturday night and then the rest at Community.

I agree. Should be some fun games tonight. Looking forward to Community and Nolensville final. Both of these teams are very talented and play hard as does Forrest and Magnet.
  3. I only saw the games Saturday night for this district but it looks like there could be some good match ups. All 4 teams played really hard and they all looked pretty even. Each team had some solid players and shoot the ball pretty well. Should be some good first round games. Looking forward to tonight to see how 12AA ends up to see the matchups.
  4. My grandson and I came down to watch Saturday night. What a great atmosphere and 2 really great basketball games in championship and consolation. Should make for a great region tourney next week. Can't wait to see these teams match against 12AA should be a lot of fun.

There are a lot of good coaches in the district for sure. I always enjoyed watching Coach King's teams at Moore County he got the most out of the talent they had the games I saw. I saw Marshall play a couple times this year and they play hard and some nights when the shots fall they were dangerous. Most nights when they lost it was just a match up problem on the defensive end from what I saw. Championship game should be a good one and excited about the region tournament. Some good teams for sure left.
  6. Anyone know when the finalist are announced and how the process works? I have always been curious how they are selected.

I agree no team is unbeatable for sure but this Community team is really impressive. They have 3 or 4 kids that would be starters on most teams in their district that come off the bench from what I can tell. They can score in so many ways and the biggest thing from the games I have seen them is they can really defend. Their size and quickness create a lot of problems. Also they are experienced most of this team has been starting for A few years now I think. No doubt 11AA has some really solid basketball teams in their region and no team is unbeatable. I think them hosting the region will be hard to beat them there. I can’t remember the last time I saw them lose at home. The head scratcher is Nolensville they have lost a few down the stretch. I saw Magnet play them and I am really impressed with Magnet and how hard they play on both ends they are fun to watch. Should be a fun district tournament hope to see a game or two.
  8. I agree completely on this. TSSAA needs to fix the classification issue before worrying about shot clocks. Shot clock will just create more bad basketball.

I believe the district tournament is at Marshall this time and the region is at one of the 12AA schools this time.

I was at this one and Community was hitting on all cylinders. They only pressed for a few minutes in the first half. The game was decently close in the first quarter but Community bench was just too much as was their size and speed. They have one player that comes off the bench that can really shoot it well! The Pride kid is as good as I have seen around here. Was surprised some to see Giles beat Nolensville even though I believe that game was close at Nolensville. I saw Marshall and Giles earlier was a good game. I think for tournament it’s all about matchups and any of these teams can get hot. Also watch out for Magnet I saw where they played Community well and beat Forrest Tuesday they are getting better. Will be a fun district tournament.
  11. I just noticed that Eagleville and Fayetteville are both ranked in the polls. Congrats to both of them. I miss the old district and watching those games on the boys and girls side. It was some really good basketball for years. Imagine adding Community into this group. Would probably be one if not the best Class A district around. Hopefully the TSSAA will get more classifications for hoops and maybe some of these rivalries will get back in district play. Good luck to all teams the rest of the way. and watching those games
  12. I just think at some point you have to draw a line with what filters down from the college game. I am not sure but doesn't AAU play with a shot clock? There is where you can incorporate it for kids who are going to play next level basketball. I mean what would be next video replay? That's where the college game is now and following the trickle down effect that would be next. Or moving the 3 point line back. TSSAA is already running ads on tv and radio they are short officials to work games so who would run this shot clock? I would fear losing more officials when you add now having to keep up with this and finding people in the rural areas to run these clocks. Then schools would have to pay them multiplied by what 100 a night times 14 or so home games thats an extra 1400 a year your asking schools to pay. Just doesn't seem logical especially if AAU is using them and give next level players a chance to get adapted to the college game. The other thing is as long as you just have 3 classes in basketball where some schools are at an athletic disadvantage in games you handcuff those schools by not allowing them to shorten the game against more superior athletic teams with larger enrollments.I don't see anything wrong with it. Kinda like football..I love watching Navy play but for the modern fan they would rather watch Oklahoma or schools like that for entertainment purposes. IMO the entertainment part of this doesn't need to be considered. Honestly how many games are we talking big picture that are changed by one team slowing the game down? If the other team i that superior shouldn't they be able to just take the ball away? The other rules still apply with 5 second count and such. Just my thoughts as a fan and old coach. I get where the new generation wants to change with the time. End of my coaching career the 3 point line came in so I get it. I just think calling a 3 in a game behind a painted line is different than adding another clock and creating IMO really bad basketball.
  13. I think they are very off. Some of the records are completely wrong. For example I saw Community is 16-1 not 9-0 as they say. They have Webb School listed as Bell Buckle? Who votes on these polls does anyone know? At least get the name right or is there a school called Bell Buckle I am not aware of.
  14. I agree no shot clock. The expense to put one in for some schools would be a lot and then you have to train someone to run it and know when to reset it. Officials struggle enough to get calls correct imagine throwing a shot clock at them to know when to reset.

I saw Community play against Eagleville and Shelbyville and you can tell these kids have played together for a while. They are very well coached and disciplined and pretty good at what they do. Their size for this area is pretty impressive. I think what may set them apart is how many they play and there isn't a lot of drop off with kids coming off the bench. I saw Forrest against Cascade and I think the new coach will get them going. Central Magnet is always well coached and will get better and Giles may have overall the best athletes in the district along with Marshall and for sure Nolensville. Some really good coaches in this district so I bet this will be a tight race once district play begins. Anyone know where the tournament is this time?
  16. I know in District 12AA Forrest and Community have around 500 students and both play in 2A in football. Nolensville, Giles and Marshall play 4A in football and Magnet does not have football. Nolensville has an enrollment of over 1,000 closer to 1100 I believe. In region play you have AAA schools who play other AAA schools with almost double enrollment so it does happen. There are small programs that for sure year end and year out could compete against bigger schools no question. I think the majority though would struggle. I think the law of average is that out of every 10 students that 1 would be a solid athlete in one sport or the other and one out of every 25 would be an exceptional athlete meaning to be able to play multiple sports. So just using that logic having schools with 900 - 1000 students playing in districts and regions with schools with 500 -600 does create a competitive disadvantage. Isn't that why the TSSAA went to more classes in football or was that strictly a money generating issue? I was just curious as to what their logic was for 6 classes. There for sure is no easy answer because there is no way to solve every schools issue but I think we can all agree that having 6 and 3 in football and 3 and 2 in hoops is not working. Good topic and good points by all.
  17. Coach Frost has done a great job at Riverside. He is a solid football coach and an even better guy. Wish both teams an injury free game.
  18. I was just curious with all that has gone on with Fayetteville City football the past few weeks how is he eligible to play at Pearl if he played at BA last season? The recruiting link says he is from Brentwood, Tn. Just curious that's all. Thank goodness basketball is right around the corner.
  19. Should be good football weather tonight at least. Hope for a good game and hope both teams leave healthy. Looks like Forrest has had a great season. Maybe Community will come out and give them a good contest. Community and Forrest have had some good battles in all sports over the years would be nice to see it in football as well. Good luck to all.
  20. If not basketball season will be here soon and I read Community has a good team this year.
  21. It’s been a struggle for sure in Unionville. Hope for a good game tomorrow night. I don’t think this will be a blowout either way but you never know. Wish both sides to be injury free and play well.
  22. I saw the Moore County game and Community played well for 3 quarters. They are just missing some big fellas up front that you need to be successful I think. They have some but just not enough it looked like. They played hard and competed and that is all you can ask from what I saw. I didn't see the last 2 games and don't know much about Eagleville but I am sure they have some solid guys and well coached. Hopefully the weather will be under 90 for this one.
  23. Community should have a very successful season barring any major injury. The seniors were on the last sub state team as freshmen and some played in a few of those tournament games. They have gotten better each year in playing 2A even though their enrollment is a lot smaller than most in their district. Will be a tough sled in the District. I am sure Nolensville will have added some players with the size of their school and Marshall, Giles, Magnet are always tough and Forrest has a new coach that was the Community girls coach a few years ago so should be a fun district to watch. Looking at their schedule I see they are playing Shelbyville. As old as I am I can't remember those 2 schools ever playing so should be a packed gym for both. This is good to see for local fans. The new Shelbyville coach has done a good job getting them going again. Hope I can make those games.
  24. Sad this happens way too much where overpaid officials can dictate a game but have no consequence for their poor performance. Funny, the schools are paying for their service and the service they provide is a lot of the time not of quality but the governing body never holds them accountable. Let a coach get tossed for questioning them and he is held accountable..why aren't they?
