  1. Bballer - I understand your point. Coaches with class would have pulled their starters. Congratulations to the Cubs on a great season.
  2. There are several of the larger private schools where the coaches do not teach classes. In many of the smaller private schools the coaches do teach classes.
  3. Met a group of the Union City fans on the flight to Denver yesterday. Great group of guys and they are really supportive of their team. Enjoyed talking to them! Derek Mason the new Vandy head coach was on the flight with us. The Union City guys, who were Vol fans gave him a special welcome to the SEC. I am now a Union City fan.
  4. Is it possible that when the "regular" school team beats the "AAU/hire the coach get the kid" team no one really cares?
  5. First - I guess if holding up a state championship trophy is boring then ok. Second - this picture is after the trophy was presented and since the game is played on Thursday, thank you, TSSAA, a number of the fans had left already. Third - in the Tennessean article that I saw after the Ensworth and Maryville scrimmage the word boring was not used, by either coach. Last point - the Maryville kids are great and your coach is outstanding.
  6. On the point about moving to a successful program - I know for a fact of at least four current players at two different schools that moved because of the success of the program. On this particular point I think you are off base. I agree with a lot of your posts just not this one.
  7. Thanks for the response. Do you happen to know which year Maryville High School became an open zone school?
  8. I hear comments from time to time from people in the west and middle part of the state about Blount county being "open zone"? Will one of the Maryville supporters explain how this really works?
  9. The good thing about this discussion is that we will have some indication from the Coaches where an opinion matters (unlike mine) in the very near future. I will wait until we hear about their college decisions and then we can revisit this discussion.
  10. For a list to have a discussion/conversation about - I think Wes did a great job and I enjoyed reading it. From the players I talk to the list is pretty accurate. Side note - they agree that Chandler from MBA is the most talented freshman in DIIAA. When you look at the highlight films, head to head competition, etc. - in my view Pittman and Wade would be ahead of Mott based on this years games.
  11. "Seriously" ... Delilah's boyfriend does a great job on ranking the IFL and you assume it is a Maryville thread and then attack a Henry County fan?
  12. What is your view of the recent change to the TSSAA rules related to the control of the game by the officials after it is over?
  13. Wes is pretty easy to find - Go Eagles!
  14. I agree with you that the game by rule could not end on the defensive team penalty, unless as you described in the example the offensive team coach declined the penalty. Given the facts as we know them how do you sort this out? Penalty on last play - whatever you want to call it happens on the sidelines. White hat goes to mid field - signals the game is over. White hat approaches offensive team coach and ejects him approximately two minutes later during the post game handshakes. Given all of this, to me, the TSSAA made the decision they had to make following their rules. Subsequent to this, the TSSAA changes the rules to address future games since they did not like the decision they had to make.
  15. No, not what I was saying. I agree with you that if what you described occurred, which it did not in this particular instance, it is not in the true spirit of high school athletics. Regardless, the TSSAA has adopted new rules that would address the situation that you described above. With the new rules it is clear how to move forward.
  16. Nationally ranked by which service? How?
  17. KW - is it your goal in life to insult the DII schools at every opportunity?
  18. The TSSAA followed the rules as they are currently written and applied them accordingly. A judgment call was not overturned. A situation where the rules were not applied correctly was corrected by the TSSAA upon appeal - again, not a judgement call. The TSSAA will most likely change the rules, which they are entitled to do, and the teams (including Ensworth) will have to follow them. I appreciate the humor of your post at some levels - just the factual basis for it is incorrect.
  19. In the words of Stars N Bars from the Maryville forums - "Gooder Point". Having to have a policy to hide behind instead of making the correct decision is very poor leadership. This coupled with the amount of funds accumulated by TSSAA from the members would lead most to say this has to change.
