  1. Ahh, I was under the impression that they kept two teams from the same section on opposite sides, not just region. Then yeah I guess it’s probably a decent chance they meet again.
  2. Unless one gets upset it is very unlikely though right? The only way they would play at state is in the championship game and that ain’t happening, per Houston. So only one of them losing would see the two meeting again in sub-state.
  3. I need some of that magic popcorn
  4. Oh I didn’t realize that. Well, that answers a lot. Kind of odd they’re not as dominant in boys then.
  5. There is a high school in Germantown, TN called Germantown High School. What am I missing here? Also, we can play hypotheticals all day. I was simply stating that it is impressive as is. BTW, something tells me Rebel’s popcorn eating emoji wasn’t directed at Houston’s dominance as much as it was at Maryville maybe having something to say about my predicted state championship matchup. And they very-well may.
  6. You’re a little late with that post. They were still undefeated coming into this game today vs Houston, but Collierville and Briarcrest scored on them. Also Houston is up 3-0 on Bearden at halftime. Unless Bearden makes a great come back it looks like Houston is in a league of their own once again this year. I really thought Bearden would give them a better game this year (I still think this will be the state championship match-up though). Houston girls soccer is on one of the most dominating runs in Tennessee high school sports history. Pretty impressive.
  7. Or... like a close friend of a local club coach who knows what school a large percentage of the best talent is attending.
  8. To your last sentence - Bearden is. If they’re not this year, they will be in the next year or two. The best that Bearden girls have ever been is coming soon.
  9. I see Alcoa beat GP 3 times last year. How’s Alcoa going to be this year? They lose much from last year?
  10. Second fiddle? This is a joke right? 2-0 loss against Maryville last year for Alcoa was a moral victory. I’m guessing Maryville will probably demolish Alcoa this year. Alcoa is a great single A team (I guess) - but cmon, let’s not compare them to good AA or AAA teams.
  11. Touché. I definitely jumped the gun with this. However, in my defense, they lost to Greeneville 0-3 and Science Hill 0-1 either right before or right after Farragut beat SH 5-0 or 5-1 or something like that. I wish I could see DB play. Apparently they’re really good.
  12. I think it’s safe to say Bearden isn’t very good this year. Rebuilding year I’d say.
  13. By the way, it’s worth pointing out too that the boys can technically have full practice all summer too, until school starts. I know some programs have taken advantage of this in the past. Especially ones with not many club players.
  14. Technically the girls can start the first day after their school year has ended (usually late May or early June). And of course they cannot do anything during the 2 week dead period. The July 23 date only has to do with player eligibility. As for boys, I think they could afford to begin practice a few weeks earlier just because it’s almost guaranteed they’ll miss a significant amount due to the amount of rain and snow we usually get in February and early March.
  15. If (when) Houston and Collierville play in the championship game it will be their 3rd matchup of the season. Why is this not their 4th matchup? Do they not have a district tournament?
  16. Oh yeah, that's awesome for Bearden. Never scored on in any district game. Hey you know what else? They would've finished 4th in their previous district (district 4) if they were still in it this year.
  17. From what I understand, Bearden may be a bit more athletic and talented than Farragut and HVA, and almost surely deeper. However, let's do consider the difference in opponents over the weekend. HVA and Farragut absolutely had tougher schedules than Bearden. Bearden beat CPA and Bartlett pretty easily. Looking at common opponents here, both of these teams are on the same level with McMinn County (CPA tied them and Bartlett lost 2-5 to them). I happen to know for a fact that just a week and a half ago Farragut beat McMinn County 3-0 and simply passed the ball around for the entire 2nd half. Moving on to another common opponent, a friend of mine watched the Bearden v Springboro game and said Springboro dominated the entire game. He said they hit crossbar and post several times and that Bearden's keeper is quite good, and made some great plays. Farragut were beaten quite handily by Springboro, on the third day in a row of playing a tough schedule. And I heard Farragut lost their top offensive weapon to a serious knee injury Saturday night. HVA's schedule was probably even tougher than Farragut's. Clarksville are defending state champs and Houston is Houston. Both HVA and Farragut probably should have beat Baylor. All this being said, HVA and Farragut are definitely not powerhouses right now. I think there is a top tier of public school teams in the state that include Houston and Collierville, Clarksville and possibly another one or two middle TN teams, and I don't know that there is a single east TN team that we can put on that level right now. Bearden and Maryville are definitely the closest, but are probably better described as a second tier team, where HVA and Farragut both are. (It's worth pointing out that Powell is definitely in this mix for east TN teams right now as well and definitely proved themselves this weekend). HVA and Farragut struggles go beyond just this year. From what I understand they have a lot of program rebuilding and for whatever reasons, as has been addressed in another thread, they're just not getting the level of players they used to get.
  18. LOL, why are you using the assistant coach's name there? Are you talking about JV?
  19. They're right about ODP. It's a joke.
  20. Against my better judgement, I'm going to respond to this nonsense. Give out more trophies? How so? By moving all private schools to Division II? Nope. Still the same amount of trophies. If yAxis's idea played out (A/AA, AAA, and AAAA), then yes, 1 more trophy. But that idea isn't even about making a "public / private split" - it's simply making an extra division to make competition more realistic (as far as region and state). A school with 1,100 enrollment shouldn't have to go through a school with 2,500 enrollment to win a championship. TSSAA understands this for football now. Why not the other sports? (the main reason is travel problems, I believe - or what they'll argue anyway). The private school elitist sentiments absolutely pours out of these types of threads and it is astonishing to me how close-minded you all are.
  21. This maybe should be a new thread, but I'm just going to post this here... The new TSSAA football regions were posted today. I know this only applies to football right now. But, I noticed several teams moving to new classifications. I wonder how much of this will stick in two years - like if they did NOT split public and private. For Division I: 1A and 2A football = A soccer 3A and 4A football = AA soccer 5A and 6A football = AAA soccer Is this correct?
  22. Very well said. I don't know anything about Signal Mountain, but I have witnessed this type of behavior so many times, at soccer games. It is so embarrassing, and unbelievable that there is not more done to prevent the way "student sections" act toward opposing teams. Some of the things that are said are really bad. Like really bad. And apparently they are free to act like this.
  23. This is an absolute joke. I'm so fed up with TSSAA!!!
  24. This isn't really a big deal, and doesn't necessarily argue against the point you're making (a point which happens to be pretty unrelated to the actual topic of this thread), but I just wanted to let you know that your facts are incorrect. I'm not really sure what happened here - my guess is that you were throwing out a guess about the recent history of AAA state champions (not a bad guess however, if it was indeed just a guess). Houston won the state championship in 1999 and 2000. And Hendersonville won in 2010. Other than suggesting that districts 4 and 11 are the best AAA districts in the state, is there another point your making here? I do agree that 2014 should be between Farragut and Franklin.
