  1. Do you think we are playing as good as we were at the first of the year? Something seems different to me but I cannot put my finger on what it is. Thoughts?
  2. I totally agree with you. I noticed that several of your JV guys that impressed me didn't get in your varsity game (on end of varsity bench) and some of the ones that I thought were "ok" played a lot in varsity. But you are exactly right, if you don't use them correctly they cannot help you. I spoke to one of your fans at the game and he told me Alcoa has never had a losing season! That is an incredible record but it looks like it is in jeopardy this year unless you have a big run to end the year. I am pulling for you to win the rest.....well, almost. LOL!
  3. Enjoyed my visit to Alcoa tonight…love your gym! ABB, still looks like the same stuff going on with your team from earlier in the season. I only saw effort from # 1 from your team consistently. Could never figure out what offense they were trying to run and your freshman, Tykee, looked totally lost! Where is he suppose to play on the offensive end? Doesn't seem like he likes to rebound or get physical either. I did see quite a bit of talent on your JV team so the future looks pretty good. They seemed to play much harder than your varsity and to be honest look better coached. Feel like we weren't at our best either but aggressive rebounding on the offensive end helped out a ton! Alcoa seemed to be out of position when they were trying to rebound and were always going directly under the rim instead of being in the paint and boxing out. Made our guys look like Russell and Chamberlain.
  4. I was told that the one "adult" fan was the father of the WB player who was initially involved in the incident. From what I understand he said he came on the court to "break it up" and is really fortunate that the ref stopped him. That could have been really bad! Wish he would have gotten more than 3 game suspension. No room for daddy to storm the court no matter the reason.
  5. Yep, if there is a rule Alcoa doesn't follow it for sure. I counted 3 varsity starters that also started the JV game when we played them.
  6. Thanks for the info. That is sad that a fan would get involved.
  7. So it sounds like there was a fight, right? Was it bad enough to have some kids suspended? Also, do you know how it started? Any fans and/or parents get involved? Thanks!
  8. Thanks for the update. I knew he was talented and I hope everything works out for him at UNC! Love seeing local kids do well at the next level no matter where they go. Cannot wait to see some good HS baseball in a couple of months!
  9. Farragut, Hardin Valley, CAK, Catholic, Sevier Co., Kingsport DB should all be strong in E TN. Not sure what is in the Chattanooga area this year. Should be a great year of BB!
  10. I think they have to be two of the top teams in TN for sure. Did the kid from Farragut sign with someone else besides UNC?? He isn't listed as one of their signees: NamePositionHt./Wt.Hometown (High School)Cole AkerRHP6-2/185Kernersville, N.C. (NW Guilford)Wyatt CrossC6-3/197Broomfield, Colo. 11. I wondered the same thing about the varsity starters and contributors playing JV. You usually see coaches using JV as a way to get game experience for the younger kids so they can build for the future. Most coaches don't seem concerned about JV results but only player development. Found that real odd. Sure wouldn't do that on the nights the varsity plays too.
  12. What jumped out at me was the point guard position for both teams. Not a strength of Alcoa to be polite. Huge strength for us. I couldn't ever figure out what they were trying to accomplish with the offense and it seemed like there was no real plan to get the ball into #23. Luke Smith, who was obviously the best player on the court, dominated Alcoa's point guard and also ran the offense to perfection. The Alcoa PG jumped a round a lot on defense but was constantly leaving his feet, getting crossed up and getting burned going to the hole. Not sure how to explain it but it was almost like he was trying to look like he was playing good D without knowing how to play good D. Also, threw some really questionable passes. There are ways to hide a weak PG and I am sure they will figure that out before the season ends. If not, get ready for a long year. AlcoaBasketball, do they ever try to get 23 more involved with the offense? I would think he would be involved on every play but they would go several minutes and he would never touch the ball. I would focus my offense around him because that is the only player that stood out to me.
  13. I agree! My younger son played against two of the freshmen from Alcoa that played for the TN Travelers last year several times and they were really outstanding players. He played with two CAK players and they were really good too. Anxious to see how they all develop over the next few years.
  14. Wow, people like you give private school people, like me, a bad name! Two of the "wealthiest" people I know send their kids to Alcoa right now. One in particular that could buy you and your entire ancestry, including your "pre-med major", with a single check. Geesh...talk about money not buying class!
  15. Well.....sort of the same. William Blount is one of the schools in Blount County that supplies athletes for Maryville HS athletics.
  16. Pretty interesting list. TN looks to really have a lot of in state talent. http://unapproved website.com/player-rankings/ Anxious to see how some of these 2017 and 2018 rankings play out over the next few years.
  17. I agree with someone from an earlier post. I think our stronger schedule is a BIG advantage tonight. KCHS 28 Fulton 20 PS we have a little speed too!
  18. I have seen both this year too and my son has seen both really close! Alcoa by 20+ unless the refs interfere. Sorry, no chance!
  19. My biggest fear is Alcoa's O line against our D line. They look really strong and I don't see that being a good match up. Not real worried about the tornado passing game though. I am sure we will get a big dose of #2 all night. Hope he plays like he did against Maryville and CAK. Should be a fun and close game! CHS by 6.
  20. IrishCoffee, on 23 Oct 2014 - 09:01 AM, said: Do they not play a 3A schedule right now?? No, all sports other than football play either A, AA or AAA. For example, in basketball, Class 'A' would be made up of the football '1A' and '2A" teams, Class 'AA' would be 3A and 4A teams and class 'AAA' would be 5A and 6A teams. TSSAA likes to complicate things!
  21. What does going up to 3A do for their basketball, baseball, softball, soccer etc? Do they go to 2A or 1A? If they have to move up because of football that doesn't seem real fair to them.
  22. So what seems to be the problem with the Alcoa D? Is it in the line or the LBs and DBs? I thought they had most of the LBs and DBs returning from last year so I am guessing it is the interior line.
  23. Irish and BIG! Watched Kingston play earlier this year and don't see this being close. To be honest, I saw some pretty lousy coaching.
  24. You are probably right. I sent my son a text a few minutes ago and he said he didn't know where they were from. Their dad told the coaches they were probably going to Chatt. Baylor and live with relatives but wanted to keep options open. Based on their size, they would look good in Irish Gold though!
