  1. What is the minimum capacity of the gym for region tournaments?
  2. 100% it is bad wrong if the school AD cannot provide names and numbers for the radio. That is just taking care of the kids IMO. I'm just saying I don't think slamming the coach is right. Slam the AD. I think the AD is derelict in their duties if they don't provide this.
  3. I don't see this as a coach responsibility during the season. I see this clearly an Athletic Director responsibility. The coach gives the information to the AD and from that point forward the AD should communicate with outside people. When I was teaching (Not Coaching) I had a ton of emails to answer everyday, lesson plans, evaluations, exams, parent meetings, grading work, teaching, etc... every day. I could not imagine being a coach on top of all that. So I think you are wrong slamming coaches for not getting the radio guys a roster. you should be slamming AD's
  4. in West TN the school that host the district tournament also host the region tournament if it is that district's turn to host region. I have seen some packed little gyms for region tournament. I don't know what the capacity is but I remember a couple of years ago at South Gibson when they hosted region and it was a great atmosphere, great facilities, they seemed to do a great job hosting but it is a relatively small gym for a region site. What is capacity requirements for hosting region?
  5. A harder district for south gibson but much easier road to state after that. Memphis girls basketball will struggle to compete with the top 2 teams from that district.
  6. Agree. And 2 teams from this district goes to the state tournament.
  7. West TN: Bartlett in 4A Fayette Ware in 3A Westview in 2A will surprise a lot of folks in the post season Union City in 1A Trinity Christian and Jackson Christian in Private Class A Briarcrest Christian in Private Class AA
  8. I would not bother a coach for this! The coach has enough going on. All School have an Athletic Director. Contact the Athletic Director and they should take care of that. I don't see this as being a coach's responsibility to make sure the radio guys have a roster. He/She really don't have time to be worried about that. Teach all day, grade assignments, prep students for testing, practice, watch film, game plan, etc... I would say getting the radio a roster is pretty low on the list.
  9. South Side and South Gibson not what they were last season. Especially South Gibson. I have seen them 3 times and they play hard but injuries have really hurt them. South Side could put it together and make a run. They are figuring out what they need to do without some of those graduates. I have seen them 2 times and they have great pieces.
  10. I saw this kid play Dyer County and score at least 40 some points and he scored at least 30 the night before against South Gibson. He can play
  11. outside looking in... The coach probably didn't play the kid or kids with parents that have influence. Happens all the time. Sad. No way I would coach high school basketball. Entitled parents raising entitled kids who have never been told they are not good enough to play right now and someone else is better than them. Again... I'm from West TN and I have no idea what happened at this school... But if I were a betting man... I would get my wallet out. Sad.
  12. What you said!!! Let them play. STOP calling every little thing. Let them play defense.
  13. Thats awesome. I would love to see him play. What is his name? Coach Barnes also needs to get a stop. UNC broke the clock on us.
  14. Humboldt beat Ripley by 2 Bolivar beat South Gibson in Overtime by 7
  15. you the one said pro level... not sarcastic at all. I don't know anything about high school basketball out there. I was hoping my Vols were on his list. HOWEVER, if he aint got no D1's as a junior, he probably aint pro level. Just sayin.
  16. I have watched 4 games in West TN. I'm pretty sure there are a couple of different groups of officials that share the West TN area. 3 of the games I have watched were good. Called the fouls that needed to be called, got the violations that needed to be called and let the kids play. 1 game was not good at all. over 45 total fouls and took about 1:55 to play the game. The new free throw rule is good if they let the kids play but if the don't, it is not good at all. Overall in West TN I would give the officials a high B.
  17. Pro level... Wow. Who are his high major offers right now?
  18. Ripley @ Humboldt 11/28 South Gibson @ Bolivar 11/30 South Side @ Haywood 12/1 USJ @ Pope John Paul II 12/2
  19. Peabody by 15... wow. Did South Gibson graduate a bunch? I thought they only graduated 2.
  20. I watched a little bit of the following teams: Obion County, Haywood, South Gibson, Lexington, Madison, Chester County, Scotts Hill, McNairy, My Take: Chester county looks like the same team that went to state last season. They are going to be really good. Best team in the gym by far! Obion was the second best team in the gym. they executed, they guarded, and scored it better than anyone else. they will compete in their district Madison was much improved from last season. They will be competitive in their district Honestly the rest of the teams I watched were not very good but I will comment... Haywood still playing football but they have a long way to go. Not sure how many they are waiting on from football. Lexington has a kid that is really athletic. Plays above the rim but guard play was not great. Scotts Hill lost a lot but played hard South Gibson was not good. They look like a completely different team from the district championship/sub-state team from last season. they must have graduated everybody. McNairy has a long way to go. they played hard.
