Girls Classifications. Need changes?????
HCHSladyPats replied to WhereYouAt's topic in Girls Basketball
There is no perfect scenario, I grew up in KY so I kind of like the 1 class scenario, however, I look at say Riverdale and by their numbers, they have enough students for a 3A team and a 2A team. Generally speaking in 3A, the biggest schools represent in the state tourney, When there is 750-1000 student difference, why even classify? If the TSSAA thinks teams should be more evenly matched as in football, then why not other sports. The private schools having 2 classes is a joke, There are like 14 schools playing for a state title in basketball, that is not even as big as some of the regions in public school. -
Region 5AAA is a toss up at this point, Beech, Mt Juliet, Lebanon, Wilson Central, Clarksville, Rossview or Henry County Region 6 AAA Franklin, Dickson County, Cane Ridge would be the frontrunners with Brentwood capable of sneaking in. 7AAA Dyer county and Arlington are the frontrunners

The consistency issue that bothers me is when one team is hand checking and the other team is too and only one team gets called for hand checking, Illegal screens are the same way, If I notice my refereeing partner just called a hand check on the Red team, then when the White team is hand checking, I shouldn't ignore.

Arlington is 2-2 versus this list. WIns over Oak ridge and Memphis Central, losses to Riverdale and Bradley Central. Oak Ridge is 0-2 against district 9, Wilson Central and Lebanon are in the middle of the pack in district 9, Oak Ridge may very well be there in the end, not sure they belong up top just yet.

I was at that game and although there were a handful of calls that could have gone the other way, most of the calls were the right call. I was at Dyer county last year in the same scenario and I would say that you were probably quite pleased with the calls there. I watched a very physical game from the Dyer county side and thought that the referees got tired of calling fouls and started letting a lot go. My opinion is biased and so is yours. The referees were probably the only ones in the gym that were not.

After further review, 1. Rossview 2. Clarksville 3. Henry County 4. Kenwood 5. Springfield 6. Montgomery Central 7. West Creek 8. Northwest 9. Northeast

What is the word in Clarksville? I do not know who the Clarksville schools lost last year, and who they have back. My gut tells me that I this district will be similar to the last few years, Clarksville, Rossview, and Henry County should battle for the top spot, Springfield has been much improved and could factor in again this year as their defeat of Clarksville high had an impact on final standings last year. Kenwood is another dangerous team. My predictions are 1. Rossview their defensive intensity put them here, their ability to score will be the deciding factor 2. Clarksville high Lost a lot to graduation, #3, #5 are a heck of a tandem, can the other pieces come together. 3. Henry County Lost their size and no one to replace her presence in the middle. 4. Springfield Coaching stability has shown to improve this team, expect the same. 5. Kenwood they may be the sleeper, they are always very active and dangerous. 6. Norhtwest Lost almost everything to graduation, Coach Wallace is doing a good job, I may be wrong but I think they will be very young. 7. West Creek, Their best player returns, not sure what they have to go with her. 8. Norhteast Times are hard on this program, numbers have been down. 9. Montgomery Central I have not seen this team play, going by last years results in AA, this could be a long season for them.

Gracie has verbally committed to play softball at Tennessee. Yes she could play college ball.

Is Honesty and Integrity a thing of the past with coaches?
HCHSladyPats replied to JacketAlumni's topic in Girls Basketball
Is it acceptable for a school to offer a job to someone and after a period of time, take it away? A pendulum swings both ways. How long are you talking, I assume from your other post that it is about coach Wild, if a person excepts a job and says they will stay, is it a lack of integrity to leave after 3 years, if so, then it must be a lack of integrity to leave after 4,5,6,7,8,9,10 etc.... I am not sure what you do for a living, but high school coaches sign 1 year contracts, school can terminate when it chooses, so why should a coach not have the same option. If said coach, said he would like to stay for a long time, and maybe something happened where he was not happy there, should he not have the option to pursue happiness? Although you seem upset by a coach leaving, does his/her happiness need to come second to yours? -

I don't think so at all. If an administrator tells a coach " we want you to be our coach" 3 years later is that administrator showing a lack of integrity to say, we no longer want you to be our coach? Is it being dishonest if a coach is says he wants to stay when there is not an offer on the table, and then his phone rings with an awesome opportunity and he changes his mind? Is it a lack of integrity for a coach to enjoy building programs? Some people are driven by different things, that is not a lack of integrity. Some coaches really love a new challenge. Coaches can change their mind just like a parent who loves a coach until their child isn't playing as much can change their mind. -

those cotton and cornfields are not so bad, one mans heaven is another mans heck.

NAIA, D2, D1, it is all basketball, size and speed are the factors that eliminate many very good high school ball players. 5'5" shooting guards that are really good in high school, are not going to get a sniff by D1 coaches unless they can handle the ball really well, defend extremely well, and shoot lights out. A 5'10" dominant high school post player is not going to make it in D1 as a post player. There is no shame in playing small college basketball.

A rather classless article. Writer seems to go out of his way to bad mouth Wilson central. Just looking at Coacht and their strength of schedule, Riverdale is at the bottom, Oakridge is lower than Wilson Central and White station is right above Wilson Central. I am not saying that Riverdale is not the favorite, or that oak Ridge is not a contender but why bring up the strength of schedule of Wilson Central. Coacht ranks schedules based on win loss record of opponents.

To make it to the state quarter finals is not good at all? 800 wins is impressive, Lets take coach Caufman for Riverdale, may be a great coach, I mean he has a state title in his first year at a school. I mean how many coaches have won a state title in their first year at a school. A wise man once told me that there is a common denominator in all great teams. Great players. To me 800 wins is pretty solid. Anyone trying to diminish 800 wins, shame on you. 26 games a year not counting post season, lets say the guy coached for 40 years (I am unfamiliar with how long he has coached) that is 20 wins a season, oh and by the way, 20 years ago teams did not play the 26 game schedule they do now.

It is early in the season still but looks like Rossview is still the team to beat. From afar 1. Rossview 2. Clarksville 3. Henry County 4. Kenwood 5. Springfield 6. Northwest 7. West Creek 8. Northeast I saw Kenwood last night and they are much improved. Springfield and Northwest seem to be playing pretty well too. I think 4,5,6 will have some battles. What say to that Fastcat?

I don't think in all cases that it does, In some cases, a great person.

East Carter, KY is looking for a Christmas tournament

rossview high school in Clarksville was looking for a team -
Defense is half the game, that is like saying if it wasn't for made baskets by one team that the other team would have won by 50.

I was just asking what if, what are you suggesting, sounds like you are in a hurry to make a change. For one that spits out how great we should be next year, you are already pondering what would need to happen if we have a sub par for Henry county year. I don't doubt that you are familiar with how good our talent is, but how familiar are you really when it comes to how talented the teams we are playing are? The smallest senior class at HC in a long time, We are 15-7 over the past two years and you talk as if the wheels have fallen off. I am just asking for an experts opinion on what you think should be done.
-
What if it happens next year? what if it happens in 3 years, what is your point? What if it doesn't happen next year, what happens if we win Friday? HC went 42 years without a state championship, won 2 in the last 5 years, and now you think it is suppose to be the norm. I read a sign the other day that said he who stirs the Poop pot should have to lick the spoon

A guy was saying that Walker Valley lost to McMinn but was a better football team, said if they had not turned the ball over 4 times that WV would have won by 35. didn't give much credit to McMinn for forcing turnovers.
