  1. York was 2-8. Whitwell 6-6. Cannon 0-10. Other 7 games were top 25 3A opponents. Very tough schedule for Grundy. However, you had a program that was a perennial playoff team, regardless of the competition you have to admit there was a better feeling on the mountain with the Bryant's than currently. I would say Grundy and Cannon will be battling for the bottom spot for a while. Grundy should beat them every year but with this schedule, Grundy will struggle through the foreseeable future. I say you beat Cannon and are more competitive against Whitwell and York, but ultimately you are looking at another 1-9 season. Here is the question, do you blame Coach Tate? I would say he needs time, assistants, and an easier out of region schedule to be succesful. Time he may or may not have Im not sure what the community thinks about him. Assistants, dont see that happening. Easier non region schedule? Thats only 3 games. Grundy will not drop Marion or Whitwell I wouldn't think because of the gate money....probably drop Watertown and pick up maybe a Bledsoe County? Tough road ahead, but I always thought the world of Grundy County people and wish the Jackets well.
  2. There was a Chris Estep who coached softball and swimming over there at TN High a few years ago. Pretty sure he didnt coach football. You may be thinking of Greg Estep who was the linebacker coach at Carson Newman and Austin East DC back in the day. Last I heard he was the HC at Tellico Plains but that was a while ago. Not sure if he had any ties to TN High. Those are the only Esteps Ive heard of.
  3. Very young, with no HC experience. But maybe thats what Riverdale needs. A fresh face and fresh start from a guy who is passionate and hard working. I understand why people would prefer a proven winner, but Ayedelott was a proven winner and was not very popular. If he has great relationships with the kids, and is organized, he is at a place where he can be succesful. I agree its not a hire anyone expected, but I wouldnt make any indictments until I saw the product he puts on the field. Just my two cents.
  4. Maynord Clayton Crabtree Maybe go west for a Jeff Morris or Rodney Saulsberry. Not saying any of those guys are interested. they are all at elite programs and are having tremendous success, but if any of them are interested....
  5. Here Here. You fired the Bryant's who made the playoffs every year in a Chattanooga Region, to winning 1 game, if you can even call beating Cannon County beating a high school team. More like 0-9. You ran off the Bryant's Grundy. You've made your bed now lay in it.
  6. Very dangerous attitude to have. Bottom line is that coaching is a career. Williamson Co. outpays everyone so he left to make more money. I highly doubt it was cause "didnt wanna be here". Forrest will continue being a stepping stone for coaches until they open their pocketbooks. Seems to me that Kriesky handled everything as good as anyone. Most coaches just interview and leave if they get hired. He informed his AD every step of the way, which at the very least, shows he respected his administration and his school. The attitude of bye we'll just replace you, shows that the lack of loyalty is on your end, not the coaches.
  7. As long as the majority on the TSSAA board are Private School representatives, you can forget about a split
  8. No I am not on crack. The point I was making is that Creasy has the only job security RIGHT NOW in the Boro. If you weren't an idiot you might have understood my point. But I explained it to you so you are welcome.
  9. Blackman fires Shadowens. Eagleville fires Carson. Wyant and Aydelott on the hott seat. Keep it up Rutherford County! See how many more championships come to the Boro. Parents might as well move into Oakland's zone. Only real stability in the Boro right now.
  10. After they beat Marshall Co. and Page, I think it's fair to put Eagleville in the conversation. Great Defensively
  11. Maybe they put on some marron uniforms and that got em back in zinc!
  12. I will say NC over WC 28-14. Two great teams who have had great years. Gonna be a fine ball game
  13. Yes imo Antioch did get rewarded! They received something they did NOT earn. Making the Playoffs should be a reward and the very fact we are debating Antioch's involvement shows a horrible flaw in the system. It should not ever even be considered a punishment to make the playoffs and the fact you say it is only helps my argument. You would rather 0-10 teams get in than others shows your credibility. It is not my job to come up with a system. It is my job as a parent to criticize this broken system. My kid made the playoffs this year in 5A and I am proud. It should be a tremendous honor to make the playoffs. Under the current format not only is it not beneficial to schedule challenging opponents, winning is not even important at our highest level of competition!!! As far as your challenge, if the TSSAA actually cared about the integrity of our game, they would model TN after a state like Ohio. Ohio is based on strength of schedule and win/loss. No one in Ohio criticizes their system, or at least the coaches do not. Also you have a public private split up there. TSSAA still does not get it right and they deserve to be criticized! They get around 25% of gate money off the top for every playoff game, and it is their goal IMO to have as many teams in the playoffs as possible. You can Triple Dog Challenge me all you want buddy, but Antioch in the playoffs is a joke. Having an A region out west with an 0-10 in the playoffs is a joke. And if you do not think other states like Ohio that are based on strength of schedule + success as well as public private split are not a better alternative than you are a joke as well.
  14. What is the deal Rutherford County? First Shadowens and now Carson! I don't understand why these principals are able to behave this way. What more could he have done? He is well liked and respected by coaches and he won games consistently.
  15. It is ridiculous that we can't come up with a system that benefits strength of schedule. Super 32 is an absolute joke! Potential for 0-10 and in the playoffs. Hey kids it doesn't matter, you'll get rewarded anyway. Tssaa is a complete joke! Pathetic
  16. Tracy Malone just went 10-0 at East Ridge. Houser goes 8-2 and Yall run him off as well. So you've had good coaches. Good luck on trying to get more good coaches to apply.
  17. You may be right. But there are similarities. Basketball emphasis. 20 players on football team. Rural communities. Cannon probably has more potential though. Pickett is hopeless
  18. Could be Indys year. Do not overlook Region 6 though. Indy has the talent to run it however.
  19. Warren has a great coach but not the athletes. Warren is 1st victim by as many as they want
  20. Henry County wins but Munford is underrated. Should be a good game. Henry by 14
  21. Not from the area. This thread has been up for a while now though. I still think Pickett has the worst coach in the state. I am not seeing anyone defend your boy at Cannon County though. Seems to be pretty unanimous that the people do not want him. If you are passionate enough that the man needs to go, then call or write the newspaper and call your school board members. Talking on coacht aint gonna get it done. Always heard of Cannons Basketball program. Hard to believe those same kids can not pick up a pigskin.
  22. Congrats to Cheatham county. Hopefully a step in the right direction.
  23. Upperman will win this one. Sequatchie good football team though. Earned a lot of respect in new region.
