  1. Can any of them hang with Wooten? I watched that kid pin the BA 220 in about a minute at Halls and then turned around and did the same thing to Blackman's 220 in the finals of the tournament.
  2. Agree to disagree. But if this poll was based on traditional tournaments rather than duals, I would argue they deserve to be much higher than 12
  3. They are young too! Look for them to stay between the 7 and 12 spot the next 3 years!
  4. With all the trolls that have popped up over the last month or so, I can't tell who is being serious or who is just playing around. - But for real now, who seriously would ever use the word "great" to describe that venue? I have been a few years to watch and have never really enjoyed the seating, but this year hit an all time low. I made it down to the floor and actually walked across the mats- mid step I felt like I had tripped over something and began to fall! Luckily though, 30 years ago I could describe myself as an athlete and I guess I still got it because I was able to regain my balance before actually hitting the ground. I'll be turning 50 this year, so my natural first thought was wow I must be really getting old! That may have been the case, but then a kid who had watched me stumble (I believe he wrestled for Heritage - a very polite young man) said to me that I needed to be careful down there- the dirt floor under the mats isn't always level and there are a lot of mounds under the mats that can trip you.... I thought he was joking, but then I walked back over the area and I could clearly feel the dirt mound that almost scored 2 on me! Who knows how many matches over the years have been decided by that floor! .... is this really the best we can do as a state?
  5. This is a strange generation of kids. I use to say kids would rather sit at home and play video games over going to practice and working hard- which still holds true. However, now kids sit at home and watch youtube videos of other people playing the games!
  6. This is quite entertaining. Question about this deadly flu virus- what other teams were at this tournament Saturday? Just so we know who else to avoid. The idea of wanting to reschedule a high school contest due to illness is insane. With the rare acception of a school being out due to illness, this wouldn't fly in most 8 year old leagues (for any sport). How does this affect region and district standings now? I would assume science hill is strong enough to make it to state regardless of who they wrestle (assuming the cold isnt going around), but it may screw over a team in the other district.
  7. This statistic is worded very carefully to help fit a rhetorical point. How many of that 1/5th are kids with birthdays between late May and early August? It's very common for some kids to turn 18 the summer before their senior year, so yes technically they would fall into the category of being 19 before they enter college. However, I don't think that's a fair statistic to use to help in this point. Nonetheless, still very impressive! Congrats to Cody! Since he competed last year as an 8th grader, and is an 8th grader again this year, does that mean he won't be able to compete his senior year? Isn't there a rule about 5 years of competition? Or does that even matter to this kid, as he'll likely be training for Olympics 5 years from now and couldn't care less about a high school state title
  8. How will Cummings do at Halls? I know there was quite a bit of celebration about the other guy leaving.

I agree to a degree that some of you guys are taking this way too serious. However I also agree that if you are going to take the time to make rankings, you should try to make them correct. The sayings that "rankings dont matter" and "the only thing that matters is how they do at state" have become cliche and simply aren't true anymore. Yes, performance at the end of the year is far more important, but to say rankings dont matter is completely false. The kids get on their phones at tournaments and see what guys are ranked in their bracket, parents take pride when their son beats someone who is ranked higher than them, coaches often use them as a gauge to know when to make a bump in duals and yes they are often argued in seeding meetings. For all those points and many others, I would say that rankings do matter- despite what older traditionalists seem to believe.
  10. I think you missed quite a few. Greeneville has several guys ranked in A/AA but am not sure how many will be there because of football. Halls has a few guys ranked too and you missed a pretty big one from Fulton. Also, Alcoa is not listed to compete on track.
  11. Where do you get that people are trashing crockett? I just read the entire board and could not find a single comment. Score predictions- whether you like them or not- is not considered trashing. Also, where do you get that you have been underdogs, And have been the majority of the season? I remember seeing when you were 5-0 people laid out the rest of your schedule and said you would be +20 in your last 5 games. As for Friday- I'll make 2 predictions- 1. Crockett keeps it close for 2 or 3 quarters but eventually gets out gunned and Central scores a TD or 2 in the 4th. Central 38 Crockett 17. 2. Ole boy arrives to knoxville on the bus with the rest of his team.
  12. Central 58- Cocks 24 TN High 32- SD 28 Gibbs 24- Boone 21 Crockett 35- Halls 17
  13. Do you mean knox central vs knox halls? Jk jk Halls has been shut out twice this season already and this could very well be the third time for the red devils. I predict a running clock by halftime and central winning big.
  14. I'm calling these two meet again in 3rd round.
  15. Powell wins big, Hopefully they take their starters out early..... buh dum tsss
  16. hmmmm.... Made an account just to make 3 bashing posts on a thread that hadn't seen life in months.... nothing suspicious about that at all
  17. I hope central can pull this one out! Hardin Valley, to me, seems to be a little under-rated in the area. I expect this one to be close!
  18. Powell is on the rise, but hasn't came up enough for this one just yet. I predict powell to keep it close for 2 or 3 quarters, but Fulton runs away with it late in the game. Fulton by 18+ (I would say 21, but they don't hit their extra points)
  19. Great game! Congrats to the Falcons! Bobcats keep your heads up, we can see both of these last two teams again this season!
  20. It may not be so... I have heard through multiple sources that Cherokee beat Halls pretty bad last week in a scrimmage. I know it's just spring practice, but don't count out your region too soon!
