  1. According to TSSAA, it is a blind draw. They could do themselves a favor by livestreaming it or at least recording the draw and making it viewable
  2. Based on the way Beech played down the stretch, I think they beat Arlington. The Bearden/Blackman game in the first round is two of the best three teams in the tournament. That game should be phenomenal. I think Bearden wins it but it could go either way. Cookeville will not have a cake walk with Oakland but Cookeville should win the game. Rossview/Farragut will be a good game as well. Farragut will have the best player on the floor, but Rossview is balanced and very well coached. The AAAA tournament bracket is loaded with good teams. Should be a great week
  3. I’ve seen Karly and Jada play multiple times each over the last couple years. I think they cancel each other out tonight. Karly is a better scorer. Jada is a phenomenal PG. Karly probably gets more rebounds. Jada is the better ball handler. I’ve never seen Jada rattled. I have seen Karly rattled, though not often. Either way, they’re both incredible. Westview’s supporting cast has been consistently better than Loretto’s this year. I think this a close game but home court and the supporting cast gets Westview back to the state tournament. Westview by 7
  4. Page - by a lot Dyer County - this one could be close Greeneville South Side - by a whole lot Upperman - by a lot Elizabethton Creek Wood Fayette-Ware - close game
  5. A week ago I would have said South Side and South Gibson were definitely headed to Round 4 for the region championship. I’ve seen Hardin, McNairy, Chester and Lexington this year. None of them are very good. But I read on another post that South Gibson lost their point guard to a broken fibula during the district championship game. Hard to deal with injuries to key players at this point in the season (especially point guards). I’ll be impressed if they make it to the region championship
  6. I think that’s right. Wayne/Huntland semifinal should be a good game, but I think Wayne has too much for them. I expect Wayne and Moore to play for the region championship
  7. Substate matchups look like a combination of McKenzie and Houston County against Wayne County and Huntland. That’s four high quality A teams with only two making it to the Boro. Region finals will be huge as winning substate games on the road is never easy
  8. I believe each district sets their own tiebreaker policy. Not sure what GC’s district does. A lot go to coin flips so coaches don’t have to worry about trying to manipulate scores in District games
  9. The quality of basketball being played in your area is impressive. GC, Westview, SGC, McKenzie, Crockett Co… I wish I could make it to the Bartlett/GC game. Hard to win at GC and I’m sure Wilkins will have a solid game plan, but Bartlett is really big and really talented
  10. I think these teams split their regular season games with the home team winning both meetings. Gibson Co is really tough team, and especially hard to beat at home. A motivated Harrison will be the best player on the floor, but she doesn’t always appear to be motivated. As far as coaching, I’d take Wilkins over Haskins all day every day
  11. I was looking through upcoming schedules this morning. Gibson County looks to have added a game with Bartlett on Jan 27. Bartlett is loaded - D1 guard and a high D1 post player. South Gibson looks to have added McCracken County KY and Collierville. I haven’t seen Collierville (huge school and their record looks good on here) but I saw McCracken this summer. They’re REALLY good! I’m impressed that Gibson and South Gibson are adding that level of opponents at this point in the season. Has to help get ready for postseason play
  12. Can somebody this to a non-UC guy? Clarkrange forfeited rather than play York? Makes no sense to me
  13. I watched the McKenzie/GC game last night on Facebook. Thanks @pioneer42 for the heads up. Great game! McKenzie had to leave that game feeling that they should have won the game. Hart and Hart are legit and GC’s role players made just enough plays to win the game. The GC role players will determine how far GC goes this year. Last year at the state tournament, North Greene basically ignored everyone not named Hart. If The role players continue defending and making open shots, GC will be hard to beat
  14. Any links available for GC/Mckenzie? Sounds like it was a really good one!! Would love to see it
  15. My take on these teams based on what I’ve seen and heard: Gibson County and Westview are both REALLY good. Their battle for the region title will be huge because neither wants to go to Loretto for a substate game. South Side is good but not as good as they have been in recent years. They’ll cruise to the state tournament, but I don’t think they win it unless Currie-Jelks gets healthy. South Gibson has a great record but hasn’t played anybody yet. They’ve got a game at Gibson Co in a couple weeks. That game will tell a lot. Don’t think they’ll win at Dyer but can they be competitive? Henry Co is solid, not great. Their best win is at Gleason. Their district should come down to them and Clarksville NW since Dickson Co is way down right now. Dyer Co has some wins over some bad teams but got blown out by a 1-6 USJ team and lost at home to an average Lawrence Co team.
  16. Was this his call or administration?
  17. I wasn’t able to see any of the action at the play days yesterday. I know Lebanon hosted a big one. I think Gibson County had a big one in West TN. Who looked good? Any surprises?
  18. No idea what kind of talent South Gibson has for their new coach to work with. I watched her teams play a lot over the last few years in Summertown and at Columbia Academy a couple years before she got to Summertown. She does a good job and I expect she’ll be successful at South Gibson eventually. That Said, I don’t see anybody in AAA challenging South Side until they get to the state tournament. I saw them this summer. They’re skilled, fast and well coached.
  19. South Side is going to really good. Barring injuries, they can book hotel rooms in Murfreesboro for the spring. If Currie-Jelks were completely healthy, I’d say they were the favorite to win AAA.
  20. I’ve got Greenfield and Gleason coming out of that A region. JCM has a lot of size and may win their district, but I don’t think they have enough to make it out of region. AAA region is South Side way ahead of everybody else. I think Hardin, South Gibson and Chester battle for the second spot. Could see any one of them getting through
  21. I think they will be dangerous at the end of the year. From a talent standpoint, they are behind Loretto, Gibson and Westview this year. But in a one game situation, they will be good enough to upset any of the three.
  22. The Davis girl at McKenzie is the real deal. She may not win this year, as Darby will have much more name recognition throughout the state, but she's definitely in the conversation.
  23. Summertown's guard play will be down compared to last couple years, but mostly just due to youth. They'll likely start two sophomores at the guard positions. Both are very athletic and very talented but, like croppy said, they will need to get physically stronger. Both guards are very good defensively, especially on the ball. A year from now, guard play will be Summertown's strength. Burdette will have to carry a big load for Summertown this year. She is incredibly talented but has never had to be the focal point night in and night out until this year. Will be interesting to see how she handles the role. I would put Summertown behind Loretto, Westview, and Gibson County from a talent/experience standpoint. However, if one of those teams doesn't bring their A game, Summertown will have enough to pull the upset
  24. A month ago, I’d have said Wayne Co could compete for a title. Improved a lot last year, bringing back everyone, and adding a big time 8th grader. They beat Westview early in the summer. Then they lost their best post player to an ACL. Will still be good but not sure they have enough to compete with McKenzie and Greenfield. I haven’t seen Huntland this summer but heard they have some really good young talent. Might be a year away
  25. I hear Huntingdon has some nice talent at the middle school level, but I can't see them being anywhere close to Westview or Gibson Co for the next 2-3 years.
