I have no problem with spring practice, it’s a good time to teach fundamentals and work with marginal kids that you don’t have time to do in August. What I’m not a fan of is spring games/scrimmages. Putting in game plans for a meaningless game takes away from the things I mentioned earlier.
True. But I still can’t think of a team that I would pick to beat you all. You get Maryville at home this year. Thinking long term, Creasy is not going to be there forever, but you all have a history of making solid hires.
No dog in this, but as for MS coaches helping HS, at my 5 stops; small, medium and large schools, only one had the MS head coach setting in the press box on Friday night as an extra set of eyes.
Valid points Mr. Booger. I have a friend who’s son plays for that ‘church of Christ school’ they are very impressive. I admit to not being all that familiar with Alabama football. Just Hoover and the large schools in the Birmingham area. Tennessee and Georgia are my domain.
When we played Rankin’s ‘92 Riverdale team in the playoffs, they threw it a lot more than any Rankin team I saw in future years. Their passing attack was the difference in the outcome of the game.
I reside in Georgia, although I follow Tenn. high school sports. On 2 different occasions down here schools have turned to the General Assembly about unpopular GHSA decisions. Both times the GHSA changed course.
Slightly off topic- But RE Rankin not being a household name, the closest that Maryville High came to losing during their 74 game winning streak when they were 4A was a 1st Round playoff game against Brainerd. Why was the game so close? My theory is that the Brainerd kids had never heard of Maryville, and as such were not defeated before they got off of the bus.
