  1. I've been the biggest complainer about Brentwood's schedule over the years. Last year's championship was an exception. Teams that play easy schedules just aren't ready at the end. Last year, it took a fortunate game vs. Farragut (Farragut still out-played Brentwood that game), a "luck-of-the-draw" semi-final game against Blackman (any team should be so lucky to get that team at that stage of the tournament), then the finals vs. a rival (rivalry games can always go either way regardless of the teams playing) The speed, the pressure of every touch of the ball, the importance of each decision. . . You don't get that winning too many 8-0 games. Oh, and it isn't that impressive that Brentwood wins the district and region every year. Look at who they compete against. No offence, but these aren't the tough teams that most other top teams have to get past. They will probably be back next year, not because the coach does such a great job, but because noone else is good enough to stop them.
  2. Luck of the draw, Ridgeway. Congrats on the semi-finals, but you beat Ooltewah. Barely. Not real impressive to the rest of the state. Oh, and good luck fielding a team next season. I'm serious. Not good luck fielding a good team, but fielding a team at all!
  3. CBHS tried to fool everyone with their easy schedule. I wasn't ever fooled. Came back to bite them. Also, they were fooled into thinking it. Arrogance gets them again. Lima's comments in the paper after the FR game illustrate the arrogance. Got what they deserved!
  4. CBHS has breezed through a very easy schedule this season. A couple of tough teams early (who weren't playing anywhere near their best at the time) is all. I would prefer that #1 ranked teams actually earn the ranking.
  5. Trust me, jon26, few are as informed as I am. I'm sorry if private school folks think I'm picking on them (I haven't done that since I was in high school). You said "DII soccer is the strongest in the state". I'm sure you are excited because Baylor is having a good year. Sorry, but I don't blurt out statements without being able to back them up like that. I have seen BGA, MBA, Father Ryan, Baylor this season. I also have to look at the scores. I haven't seen McCallie, but I know that neither Baylor nor McCallie could beat Father Ryan this season. I said that only one DII school is in the top 5 or 6 teams in the state. Obviously, that team is CBHS. I didn't say that there weren't good private school teams. In fact, I think Baylor or BGA could pull the upset and win the whole thing. I'd include McCallie in that as well. After the top 5 or 6 DII teams, there aren't a whole lot of good teams. Now that, my friend, is a fact. Teams 6-10 in DI are much better than teams 6-10 in DII. Who's next? This is fun.
  6. MBA? Look what happened when they traveled west to face some of the top AAA teams. They are still licking their wounds. BGA is lucky they weren't down there or their results would have been similar. NEXT!
  7. Have to disagree with the sentence about the strength of Division II. Odds are, the top teams will make it to the state tournament easily because there aren't that many quality teams. This division doesn't have much depth, so the better teams across the state shouldn't face much trouble. In the other two divisions, there are teams all across the state who could make it. Some good teams in both classes will get knocked out. As for overall strength of Div. II, I disagree there too. Of the top 5 or 6 teams in the state overall, only one comes from Division II. You can't put MBA up there. You can't put Father Ryan up there. You can't put BGA up there.
  8. Ladies and gentlemen, the captain has turned on the "Punctuation is Optional" light.
  9. "breathers" may not have been the right term, but the AAA teams view these games as an "escape" from their district games and games vs. the traditional rivals. It may look like they are ready to play. But they haven't put the same thought and mental preparation into these games as the A/AA teams do. A/AA players and coaches don't like hearing this, but it is true. Mentally, AAA teams aren't at their best these games. A good college football example is Georgia vs. West Virginia in the last Sugar Bowl. Noone thinks WV is better than Georgia, even after they won the game. They were fired up to play, while Georgia players, who hadn't ever heard of West Virginia football, didn't mentally show up 100%.
  10. Be careful about the A/AA vs. AAA comparisons. It's the same as any team playing a Southeastern Conference School in college sports. A/AA teams gear up for these games all year. AAA teams look at these games as breathers from the grind of the rest of their schedule.
  11. What? I was probably the first to knock Brentwood's schedule. I have to be honest.
  12. Let's slow down a bit on CBHS. People who haven't seen them are saying they are the best team in Tennessee? Look at their schedule. They played Farragut and Bearden, both of whom were down at the time (neither of those teams has any depth, and bearden sat a lot of starters) Other than that, their schedule isn't too tough.
  13. If the same clown coaches them who has the past 10 years or so, I don't think Bartlett is to be taken too seriously.
  14. MBA has played some middle tennessee teams and just played Bearden, Houston, and Rossview. It would be interesting to hear their perspective.
  15. A couple of things, and I really couldn't care less about east tennessee soccer. (1) the science hill coach is known around the state for making up quotes to fire up his team. (2) region 2 is still superior to region 1
  16. Boys posting pictures of the backsides of other men? Interesting. Maybe times have changed. I always preferred pictures of women.
  17. TSSAA is consistent. The last thing they need to do is to try to figure out a different penalty for each single event. Our justice system essentially does this, and look how long it takes for each case. TSSAA doesn't have this kind of time. It's simple: Play an ineligible player, forfeit those games. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how the player became ineligible. If TSSAA wasn't this consistent, the same folks crying about this "injustice" would be crying about the inconsistency. We would hear things like "this happened at another school and all they got was a warning. Why do we have to forfeit?" TSSAA does an incredible job given everything they have to consider. Everyone could probably find something they want to change. However, when taking everyone and everything into account, their system works best. They enforce the rules. If the rules need to be changed, it's up to the schools to be a part of the process of changing them.
  18. Turning yourself in does NOT generally mean the same punishment as not turning yourself if. If TSSAA discovers something that you did not report, they sometimes will give a more harsh punishment. If you go back and compare punishments over the years, they always punish more for not self-reporting. Reporting is the right move. You saved yourself a possible worse fate.
  19. Please, no more of this stuff about Coach Vice being such a great coach. Just like a lot of others, he is a good coach. Nothing more, nothing less. "mastermind"? Hopefully you were sarcastic.
  20. You just don't get it, do you?
  21. (1) TSSAA isn't going to say that winning in pk's is a win. They don't care what you call it. (2) Losing in pk's last year was a tie, so winning in pk's this year is a tie. You were right last year. Ladies and gentlemen, I just speak the truth. Every post. Don't argue.
  22. A tie is a tie, no matter how you break it after it is over. Nationial Federation rules state that a tie score is a tie, regardless of who wins in pk's.
  23. Sorry, but this is true: fairly weak overall schedule + rarely subbing the top players = a lot of goals This does not make Brentwood the "BEST" offensive team. It only means that their best players score a lot of goals against the opponents they face.
