  1. Schedules are on a 2 year cycle. If I remember correctly, this year is the beginning of a new 2 year cycle. So it takes longer to fix a schedule because: (a) each school tries to find someone that will play them and (b) fit it within and around their region schedule. You should try that sometime and see how perplexing that chore can be.
  2. Sad news. Condolences to his family and friends.
  3. Schedules as a rule are set for 2 year cycles -- home and home games. 2023 and 2024 seasons are the next cycle, so I wouldn't expect the schedule to change for those years except the location of the games.
  4. Per TSSAA, all games start at 7:00 p.m. local time.
  5. One particular referee was a tremendous help to Clinton last year.
  6. That would give one more thing for posters on here to bellyache about!
  7. Bearden---- Nov. 30, 2007 Smyrna L, 14-17 It was Semi-final 5A , Bearden losing to Smyrna.
  8. Bearden was in semi against Smyrna --- I believe it was in '07. These were really the two best teams in 6A that year that I saw.
  9. In the latter part of the first decade of the 2000's I recall Bearden having good teams -- probably above average for that period. They did get to the semi-final game of the playoffs (which that year included the two best teams for that division) one year. Bearden did have many at least average and sometimes above average teams during their history. They have not been a perennial doormat. Few schools are perennial champions or basement dwellers.

  11. My understanding of the rule is a running clock is for the second half only.
  12. Bearden Football Record - according to CoachT: For the years: '07 12-2; '08 8-3; '09 9-3; '10 9-4; '11 5-6; '12 8-3; '13 4-7 That gives record for those years as 55-28. For the years: '14 1-9; '15 6-5; '16 4-7; '17 6-5; '18 8-3; '19 5-7; '20 4-7 That gives record for those years as 34-43.
  13. No tickets are sold at the game in all of Knox County Schools that I know off.
  14. Half of the Gate might not cover the game expense with very reduced attendance due to COVID restrictions.
  15. If reduced seating becomes a requirement for playing, the public schools with small stadiums will not be able to afford the cost of their games. What is the plan to correct that?
  16. You apparently do not understand the point. The point is no matter the odds -- wearing a mask is well worth the effort, in my humble opinion,
  17. I remember years ago a quote from Billy Graham: : "If there is only a 10% chance of there being a heaven and heck, wouldn't it be worth following Jesus' instructions for entrance into heaven versus entrance into heck?" That could apply to wearing a mask as well -- you are trying to help prevent the spread of a potentially deadly disease. What is wrong with thinking of others? Maybe some people just want to be an apologist.
  18. SIXTY YEARS AGO PRACTICE DID NOT START UNTIL 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO SCHOOL STARTING -- WHICH WAS ON TUESDAY AFTER LABOR DAY. THERE WAS NO SUMMER PRACTICE AT ALL. YOU ALSO PLAYED ON DEFENSE AND OFFENSE. THERE WAS NO OPEN SUBSTITUTION. I DIDN'T SEE ANY PLAYER "COLLAPSE BECAUSE OF NOT BEING CONDITIONED".
  19. THE ODDS OF SPORTS THIS FALL ARE 50/50 AT BEST IS MY GUESS. THAT IS ALL IT IS --- A GUESS -- JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. I SURE WOULD HATE TO THINK I WAS GOING TO SEND ONE OF MY CHILDREN TO PLAY UNDER THE CURRENT CONDITIONS AS THIS VIRUS HAS SEVERAL TWISTS AND TURNS TO IT EFFECTING FOLKS DIFFERENTLY. BY 2021 SEASON IT IS VERY LIKELY THAT THERE WILL BE A BETTER TREATMENT FOR THE VIRUS AND VERY POSSIBLY A PREVENTATIVE VACCINE FOR IT.
  20. Giving up coaching is not the same as giving up teaching.
  21. Heard a rumbling about this a few weeks ago. Have been wondering how long it would be before it came on Coach T.
  22. The field houses in Knox County that I know about were built with donor money and/or supplies.
  23. I was in attendance of Heritage's Friday night game. The first and most obvious reason Heritage lost is team speed. Karns had several players faster than Heritage players. Case #1 --- the young Karns player getting approximately 280 rushing yards on 14 carries that included 4 touchdowns. The heritage players played their hearts out but the difference in athleticism was very obvious. Subject of tackling and safety. Many teams, from high school to the pros, practice a form of tackling started by the Seattle Seahawks. The tackler is taught (and you can find teaching videos on the internet) to tackle with his head to side or behind runners legs and roll with the tackle instead of getting his head in front of the runner. As you might suspect, this form is expected to lesson the number of concussions. The down side -- it lends to increase the number of "run through arm tackles".
