from what i know if a coach goes to the mound twice in a inning he must replace the pitcher.

In high school baseball coaches are allowed three visits per game...they can use all three in the first inning if they choose to do so. Also, when a coach pulls a pitcher, this does not count as a visit. The one visit per pitcher per inning is used in MLB and in college baseball, but not in high school. High school should have the two per inning rule.

Just too add, after 3 visits (free), upon every trip after, the pitcher must be removed. NHSF should adopt the 2 trip per inning rule, this would be more consistent with other sanctioning bodies.

One of many examples of high school rules differing from what people are used to seeing on TV.  And it amazes me the number of parents/fans who yell at the umpire "he has to leave the game!".    No, he doesn't

YOU'RE RIGHT DAVID...MOST FANS KNOW MORE THAN THE UMPS WHO ARE CALLING THE GAME OR SO THEY THINK...I JUST LOVE THE FANS WHO ARE SITTING IN A LAWN CHAIR ABOUT 50 FEET BEYOND FIRST BASE AND ARE YELLING THAT THE PLATE MUST NOT HAVE ANY CORNERS ON IT.. IT JUST SHOWS THEIR SILLINESS..REALLY NOBODY BUT THE PLATE UMP CAN SEE WHERE THE PITCH COMES ACROSS AND WHERE THE CATCHER SETS UP HAS A LOT TO DO WITH IT ALSO....JUST DOWN RIGHT FUNNY SOMETIMES.

Sorry guys...you are wrong about that. Three visits throgh the duration of the game. They can use all three in the same inning with the same pitcher.

Here's a few rule questions that pertain to high school baseball...

True or False

1. A runner must slide to avoid contact.

2. A fielder cannot block the base without the ball.

3. One out, runner on third. Batter interferes with the catcher's throw to third base. The runner is declared out for interference.

4. Two outs, runner on third. Batter interferes with the catcher's throw to third base. The runner is declared out for interference.

5. While a pitcher is in his windup, the umpire calls a balk. The pitcher continues his delivery, and the batter hits a homerun. The offensive team has the option to take the resulting play or take the balk.

Have fun!!
