Duckman..  The '75 team beat McKenzie 54-12.  In 1981, the Mustangs beat the Rebels 2-0.  The 1975 team had Bobby Ward, Ron Potts, James Arthur Harris, Mark Bush, Carl Wallace, Preston Hall, Brian Caton, and several other Volunteer Conference players.  They were 10-0 and go to Memphis to play Bishop Byrne.  The Mustangs score and go up 14-7.  Bishop Byrne scores and misses the PAT.  The referee flags the Mustangs for a player not having a mouth piece in and they get the ball again half the distance to the goal and score on a 2 point conversion to win 15-14.  Here in Huntingdon it's called the "Mouthpiece Game" and is still a sore spot for Mustang fans.  It was Coach Ward's last game!

I'm sure you're like most fans and you don't mind losing to a good team but to get robbed is another thing.  WE WUZ ROBBED.....

Yeah Mr. Mustang, I'm the same way about gettin' beat versus gettin' robbed. We got robbed back in '80 (might have been '81) in the Class A playoffs against Lake Co. early in the playoffs by the "Phantom Clip" call on the game winning touchdown run by Dale McAdoo. It would have given us the win by a few points versus a loss to the eventual state champs!!!!! Lake Co. cruised on into the state championship after their game with us. Weren't even tested after that!!!

Yeah, I know what you mean! Ya'll have your "mouthpiece game" and we have our "phantom clip game".

Mr. Mustang,

By the way, I know who you are now. We went to school at the same time on different sides of the creek obviouisly. There is a Donald kid playin' at H-town now and I work with his dad and he told me who you were. So I guess I have the advantage.

Good to talk to ya'. You just might be able to find out who I am the next time you talk to the folks over at the Keeton office if you ask the right person. You don't really know me but, I'll bet you know OF me.

Buckaroo..

You asked earlier who would be key players for the Mustangs this year. The defensive backfield returns 3 of 4 starters. We'll have the twins, Cody Baker and Boo back. Best group of linebackers in awhile. Chris Donald, Snyder and Brent Taylor. They can run to the ball. Snyder moved here from Florida after you left and he is fun to watch. He got hobbled in the Alcoa game and didn't get to show his ability. He gutted it out and finished though. Maurice, Aaron, McCormick, and Nellett will be tough also.

The biggest surprise to those who watch the Mustangs will be Parham, Dill and Tucker. If Maddox can stay healthy he will help on offense.

One thing to think about is Cody Crocker. Last year he was a sophomore and we didn't call on him to throw much. I look for us to put it up this year because I think Mansfield has alot of confidence in him. Crocker can hum it and he has a linebackers mentality. Look for his younger brother, Caleb "Lover Boy" Crocker to play some this year. He'll be a Freshman but he's a good athlete too. I don't have to tell you about Chris and Boo. Both are bigger and faster than last year. You won't recognize them when you see them. Also remember Boo's cousin who will be a sophomore, Matt "Stormy" Weathers. He can scoot pretty good too.

The "Pigskin Pals" are impressed how this squad has worked this year. If wins are a result of hard work the the Mustangs will be in good shape. They are excited to get the season started and will exciting to watch again this year.. thumb

BTW, I don't work at the Keeton office but, you can find out who I am over there. It does seem that quite a few in H-town do know who Mr. Mustang is. I'm just ready for 'em to strap the pads on and get after it!! Sure glad I don't have to do 2-a-days in this heat anymore though!!!! thumb

Have a good weekend!

Sounds like we've got a good army. Hopefully this bunch can work hard and win the region and very possibly clinch another gold ball. I've been wandering when someone was going to mention Crocker's name. That kid's got a cannon. I know Huntingdon doesn't pass that often, only when needed. I look for Donald to pound it up the middle and Boo to keep makin' em miss. <_< Anyway, Go Mustangs!

Buck..

I believe you'll see H'don throw it more and not only when needed. We're a long long long way from talking about going back to the Boro. Are you living in Arlington now?

HardHead70...  I called  your office today and they said you had gone to the doctor.  I'm sure all is in good hands when you're gone... thumb  Ask HardHead Jr. when team night will be finished and two-a-days begin.

    • Harriman was better than what I anticipated. They had good skill guys and a QB that’s gonna make a lot of teams look silly. They had some silly pre snap penalties but it’s just spring and I guess that’s expected.    Oneida looks the part. They are big upfront and got a stable of backs that’s gonna carry them this year. They have a few playmakers at receiver also. They have a new receiver that has only played basketball till this year and he is very athletic. The question is can we find a QB to consistently get them the ball. They played 2-3 kids there and none looked great but they didn’t look awful either. The  defense is gonna be tough again but it’s very early and a lot can change between now and the fall.     It was good just to get out and watch some ball. I don’t know if Oneida has the team to win the region this year but just what I saw tonight I think they may be in the conversation come November.
