He won't be playing Oliver Springs and Sevierville and South-Doyle type teams anymore...this will not be pretty.

Oak Ridge hasn't played Oliver Springs in quite some time. Sevier County, not Sevierville (there is no Sevierville High School), won a state championship within the last ten years, and Oak Ridge and South-Doyle haven't met in a long time, either.

Oak Ridge plays in a pretty darned tough region, and they have had a lot of success under Lussier. He's seen competition as good as he will see at Father Ryan.

Time to give my 2 cents. First, I would like to start off by thanking RollRedRoll. This guy knows more about Father Ryan than I do, and he is a fan of our rival! He always puts respect in the other teams that MBA plays, and he shows good class. So RollRedRoll, thank you. Of all the MBA fans on this site, you are the most knowledgable and the kindess, so thanks!

We all know how dangerous FRHS can be with GOOD coaches? Let's look back shall we? To a time when we had Kurt Page and Jack Pittman coaching the team. The lowest record with those 2 guys was 7-3 (I think?). So we all know that coaching is VERY important in this tough Division football gameplay. (when we lost the 2, things went downhill, and the leadership and Ryan went with it.)

However, Bruce Lussier is a GREAT coach. He has the mentality as though he has never lost, he has the patience as if he never could die, and he has the experience and determination that once made Ryan a fearsome name. Once he puts together his coaching staff, a very very good one (soon), I think the 'days of old' will return to Ryan. We have always been an undersized team in our Class, but with the coaches we have had, none of that mattered.

Period .

If Ryan plays more games at OUR house, I'm telling ya, you will see more and more W's on our scheduele. Its a pain in the ###### having to travel every Friday. We did well against McCallie when they came to our house (30-18 L), even though we lost , we played very well and our team had good energy. If we can play more games at home with the new coaching staff and actually having STRATEGIES against teams, its like trying to break in a Fortress gaurded by fanatics.

Is there any chance the city of Brentwood will allow Ryan to play at night in the future? The trouble with the Super Seven is Ryan could improve 100% and still not hit .500. Tough league with teams improving across the board but playing the toughest schedules in the state.

Actually at one point in time last year 5 of the teams on Oak Ridge's schedule were in the top 10 teams of 5A. Including great teams in Kingsport DB, Riverdale and very good young teams in their region in Ooltewah, Soddy Daisy, Farragut. Last year as a whole, the teams in the east of 5A, were night in and night out the toughest teams. Riverdale was the best, but East TN had a lot of great ones in Region 1 & 2, no Oliver Springs or South Doyle. I watched OR vs. Riverdale, and Lussier coached as good of a game as anyone could. Father Ryan will benefit from his presence.

Dragon05,

What exactly did Lussier do to help Oak Ridge against Riverdale?

Coach Jeff Minor is the reason the offense did well.

GO WILDCATS!!

Good luck IRISH!! you are in for a big suprise. Sorry.

With that kind of reasoning I have to ask one thing.....Is Coach Minor just a first half coach then?

"Whoever" is the reason, it was a great game to watch.

Personally I think it was Coach Lussier that did most of the Coaching that night, and he did it with class and poise. thumb

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
