Ex Notre Dame coach BOB Davies gave a gloomy prediction for the Vols. On ESPN last weekend he predicted that Tennessee would be the biggest dissappointment in Division 1 NCAA football. His reasons were about the off the field antics of some of the players and the way they were handled. He claims there is disrespect amonst team members and they will bring it to the field....................I never liked Davies anyway..........he was always a wimp and still is apparently.

Look at it this way if Davies was so smart, he wouldnt be sitting in front of a camera, but he would be on the sidelines with headphones!

 

But I watched this and I thought he made one really good point and that is Tennessee's schedule! Back-to-back games on the road against LSU and Florida is going to be hard and in 5 weeks, we are going to play 5 of the better teams in the country(Florida, LSU, Georgia, Alabama) and that will decide our fate! In my eyes if Tennessee loses one game, they are the biggest dissapointment in CFB!

 

I think the only problem in Vol Land is the media! If you will look back, Phil has taken action against all the distractions and put them to rest! I dont see any of the off the field antics affecting gameday!

Davies (Bob, not John) would be one to know about disappointments. He, after all, was the coach who led the Irish to this state of mediocracy they are in.

 

I think UT will be fine because Fulmer has a chip on his shoulder. He always produces when that is the case. Tell him he can't do something and he will find a way to do it. A lot of people think UT is going to be a bust, and that these new coaches are going to come in and dominate the league. I think that plus the disappointments of 02 will keep him focused.

What BOB Davies is trying to say is that if Tennessee doesn't live up to all the high expectations this season because of all the off the field stuff that we'll all be disappointed and the Vols will be a big disappointment.

 

What I think is that there's a reason why Davies is no longer coaching college football, much like Lee Corso is no longer coaching college football and Dick Vitale is no longer coaching basketball...they couldn't cut it.

 

Davies needs to go back and talk about someone that always seems to disappoint in recent years...like Notre Dame.

It's going to be hard to live up to the expectations this year with our schedule. While we have one of the most talented teams we have had in a while, it's going to take team chemistry and some luck to get to where we hope to be.

Oh I agree, it's not going to be easy with our schedule and we sure aint going to have the cakewalk that USC will have!

It will either have to be ASU or Cal! The only other possibilty I could think of is USC overlooking Oregon because of the ASU game and Oregon beating them!

If the Vols can make to the title game, I hope they are not playing USC for the simple reason the game is in their back yard at the Rose Bowl....I think the National Championship could be between the 2 UT's Texas and Tennessee
